Security is good and everything is easy to understand - gates to the car park close at 11pm but there is a back route explained on the gate. The doors to the hotel are also closed at 11pm but again, when you are given your room key you are also given a 4 digit code to get into the building if you come back later. Roms are very slean, comfortable and basic, just what you need really, Breakfast had a wide range of food and also decaf coffee was available, which you don't see in many places. Creaky noisy bed, other people staying in the hotel weren't thinking of people trying to sleep in the early hours, we heard a few banging doors. Also, at breakfast I think there should have been at least one person telling visitors that everything was self-service, because many people were sitting down and waiting to be waited on, before realising that absolutely everything was self service. Many people were a little hesitant at sitting down at tables too, possibly they were also expecting someone to take them to a table.

We like its quiet location - can't believe how quiet it is, yet so near to a a busy main road and city centre. We could hear owls outside when we lay in bed at night! It's right on a bus route so no need to take our car into the city. It's in Rusholme, which is cosmopolitan and very interesting as a multi-cultural area, with different places to eat and shop. Luther King House is still a theological college for some of the week and we like its atmoshphere, it's very good theological library, and the chapel, as well as the friendly and helpful staff. It uses Fair Trade foods.

Nothing did not enjoy the stay one bit On arrival the receptionist was more interested in her phone than informing us about our stay or checking us in. The room was really horrible and cheap not at all as described when booking. We were kept up all night by noisy students next door and couldn't complain until the morning where we were just told they would have a word no apology was given!! Very dissapointed and would not recommend this hotel to anyone save your money and book elsewhere!

The staff were polite and friendly, not over bearing. We were able to do as we pleased. Good value for money, we paid basic prices and expected basic accomodation. However the breakfast was lovely, we got what we wanted and were happy with the selection. The location is a great base for exploring Manchester and the buses ran every 5 to 10 mins throughout the day and also has an excellent evening service. The shower room and toilet could do with an up date. It looks and feels dated. Our toilet was wobbly! But for the price we paid I would not make a big deal about it. Also they are quite tight with the coffee/tea/milk left in your room.

I had never been to Manchester before, and it (Luther King House) is located in a way that introduced what I consider a unique view of England to me. I am from a rural area in the states, and do not have walking (or driving) access to authentic eastern restraunts.

Good and clean and offered excellent breakfast. Good location. Noisy guests with lots of banging on doors until early hours of morning. It seems that there was no staff to intervene. Creaky bed and no mixer taps at the wash basin!!! They were too hot or too cold.

Its location in a quiet street, the old buildings and the courtyard garden. It was very handy to the city and the nearby parks were great for walks and runs. There are lots of places to eat, cafees and to grocery shop. Close to the University and museum.

This was the perfect place to stay on a recent trip, not far from town, about 15-20 mins on the bus (there are loads of buses and regular £1.50 single) - lovely and quiet so no city noise and about 5 mins from the 'curry mile' Would use again Tempremental shower

The room was alright but good for one or two nights. The room and the cups were not cleaned and shampoo/ conditioners/ soap were not re-stocked the next day. Only the bed was made after we put the request sign on the door knob. The reception did not even know the breakfast hour in the morning.

Very close to the Academy venues in which I was attending a concert, lovely courtyard and staff were very helpful/ friendly. Excellent value for price paid! Needed to book out before 7:30am but no staff at reception, no posters with instructions of what to do otherwise. Woke up to find toilet leaking during the night.

It was close to the bus route for university (where I was attending a reunion) and town. The food and restaurant service were very good. It was calm and peaceful, despite being so close to a busy road. The bedroom decor and facilities were rather `tired' with the hot tap rotating on its bearing (reported on leaving). The bed was a bit noisy - it rubbed and squeaked against the wall. It would have been nice to have a chair each but I realise that would have been difficult to fit in the room. Although it appears I have written more `not likes' than `likes', overall it was a very pleasant stay and good value for money.

Very clean and comfortable for a short stay. Everything in the room worked perfectly. Nice, peaceful location ideal as a base for exploring the city of Manchester. I prefer to see a sink actually in the bathroom and not in the room itself, but this is an extremely minor snag.

The staff were really helpful, the eating area and bar were very comfortable and the design felt relaxing which is important when you're travelling alone. I loved the faintly scholarly feel of it - less intimidating than business oriented hotels. But best of all were the huge windows that opened so that I could relax after a very tiring day's work, open the window & gaze out onto the cherry blossoms in the garden which is a haven of peace and loveliness in the city. Really lovely & thank you for the stay. Mattresses are a bit old & lumpy, & too soft for me.
