I was travelling with a friend as we had a wedding to go to in the area. I think we must have got one of the last available twin rooms on what was probably a very busy weekend. It was also an exceptionally hot weekend. The room was very cramped. To the extent you couldn't pass each other behind the beds. It felt like a single room which had had two beds put into it. We had to have the window open because of the heat. And as we were at the front of the hotel the window opened onto the road at the front which was surprisingly noisy from quite early in the morning. Unfortunately, it was not a very comfortable experience.
Overall, the hotel is delightful. The reception rooms, restaurants, bars, outdoor terraces and gardens are exceptionally picturesque. Great views from the very pretty gardens which have some lovely secluded areas and terraces. Can't comment on the food because we were staying on a bed and breakfast basis. But in terms of atmosphere, location and charm it scores highly. We also found staff friendly and helpful.
