The hotel is located in the heart of the lakes yet in a quiet, remote area so you are away from the hustle and bustle during tourist season. There is a river across the road which is very peaceful (with a bench next to it) and has a nice short walk alongside the fields next to it. The accommodation is recently modernised with fresh decor and the bathrooms spacious. Compared to other local establishments this represents good value for money with nice home cooked food and a good selection of vegetarian food. The bar area could do with refurbishing or modernising somewhat in line with the rest of the establishment. Some background music would also be nice as the area is quite close together so difficult to avoid other guests' conversations at times.

The location was lovely. The meal was excellent. The proprietors were friendly and tried to be helpful. We had a room in the annexe and the heating went off at 9pm. It was a freezing cold night so we complained and they put in on for an extra hour but then told us to use extra blankets! Getting up in the night to use the bathroom was miserable. The phone in the room did not allow you to make outside calls - only to receive calls answered in the main building by the proprietors. We had a family emergency on the night - our daughter phoned during the evening using the main number and it rang and rang but was never answered. There was no information booklet about the hotel in the room.

Very friendly staff. Room was 1st class. Food was of highest quality and well presented. Hotel has been updated but retains the friendly ambience of a family hotel. Hotel is a good central base for lots of venues to visit. Overall would recommend this hotel as a great place to stay for all age groups. Could not find anything to complain about.

The owners were friendly and helpful and the bedrooms spacious, clean and comfortable. Ideal location for climbing Scafell Pike and to return there after a hard day's walking for some good hearty food and drink in the bar, which also has a pool table and dart board. Good value for money.

We had a lovely 3 night midweek stay at the Lutwidge Arms and enjoyed our stay very much. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. The train journey from the local station of Drigg to Ulverston was fantastic, We had our evening meals in the bar and I must say the portions were very large but exellent value. The bar was very buisy with guests and locals.

Our room was in the main part of the pub with amazing views of the surrounding countryside from our bedroom window. The accommodation was great, with comfortable beds, clean rooms and friendly staff. The food served at the pub was excellent with a wide choice, and all reasonably priced. Secure storage was provided for our bikes. All in all, a great place to stay.

Location - green area, good for walking and visiting Muncaster castle (a must see) Price - quite cheap but you get what you pay for Room was large While the location is good there's not many choices for food - 1 day stay is long enough No entertainment at night Family run so lacking in professionalism and services Pub downstairs doesn't open until 6pm
