The room was cosy, shower was huge! Real filter coffee and teas in the room which is a rarity. Breakfast was perfect, topped off with friendly welcoming staff. what more would you want. Definitely visiting again.

Road noise at front of hotel (room 6) Member of staff using vacuum cleaner at 5.30am near room door
Lovely spacious room, large bed, very clean, helpful staff, good breakfast.
Great spotlessly clean room with very nice furnishings. A large very modern bathroom lots of instant hot water (excellent hot radiators too). Very obliging friendly staff who served a delicious evening meal, and next day the choice of any breakfast (included).
The music in the evening dining room could have been a little more mellow but that's my personal taste (it was nice during breakfast).
Lovely room, excellent facilities, very attentive staff, good food and great breakfast. We will definitely be back!
Excellent meal, though menu perhaps could have offered more choice; rooms large, clean & attractively decorated. Our bathroom doorknob broke, but staff quickly swapped us into new room, and were very good about it. Then there was a fault with one bedside light...!
Both these faults were small glitches, and did not spoil our stay. There's a limit to how you can fix problems that appear only at 10 o'clock on a sunday night, and the staff were all excellent. We expect to use the Battleaxes again.
Really comfortable bed. Staff very quick to address some minor issues. Breakfast freshly cooked on warm plate and plentiful. Food in bar good too.
Room occupied by someone else on arrival but issue addressed quickly and without fuss.

Beds - big and comfy. WiFi
Stairs to bedroom had no handrail. Cooked breakfast was included and came after a long wait, but no fruit juices, no cereal, no toast offered and had to ask several times for milk for tea. Luke warm welcome from limited staff. For the cost we expected more.
The whole experience was great... A great location, great room and decor...super friendly staff....bathroom and ed, luxurious..
Delayed restaurant service....that's all
Very nice bedrooms well decorated with lovely art deco theme. Nice pub with good beers.
Internet issues during the stay so could not connect to the internet. Only a minor issue.
We had been looking forward to seeing Tyntesfield for several years, and the natural place to stay to get our visit off to a perfect start was The Battleaxes. Built in 1882 by the Gibbs family who owned the estate, it originally housed the servants who looked after the family. The architecture follows the gothic revival theme seen throughout the Tyntesfield estate from the same era. The Battleaxes is conveniently located on a main local road and has ample parking adjacent to the building. The stairs and hallways leading to today's guest rooms retains that "beneath the stairs" look, but the large rooms are modern and well equipped. They also make the best use of the building's architecture - our room had a wonderful bay window with comfy chairs. The pub below is well attended by locals, and we enjoyed two good meals there. It serves up an excellent breakfast, and staff were friendly and helpful.
We had a couple of little problems come up that were handled immediately. We did notice a small housekeeping blooper, as we found paper on the floor after the room had been serviced, and we had to ask for bathroom tissue. But for the most part our stay was fine, and we would gladly return.
