Looked tired rooms needed updating
The staff , worked so hard to make our stay an enjoyable one , good breakfast , close to the forest and the shopping and a good nights sleepn
Location, friendly staff
We booked a short stay for after Christmas. Having checked with the hotel previously regarding availability of food was told the bar would be open for food all day. It wasn't. We had a choice of a basic menu restaurant which repeated for two nights otherwise we had to find somewhere in Lyndhurst, which is what we had to do. The hotel was due to close down so obviously was being run down but this should have been mentioned at the time of booking so we could make alternative arrangements for food.
Location was excellent with plenty of free parking.
Old sandwich behind Xmas tree, floors in public areas needed a hoover. Smashed glass in entrance doorway. Generally a beautiful building in need of investment.
Friendly efficient staff
It was a little unkempt - not surprising since it is closing!
The staff Paul and Sue especially were fantastic, our dog was more than well catered for. She came to brakfast with us!
The fact the hotel is being knocked down
Room Decor Cleanliness Bed Pillows
Fantastic staff. Couldnt do enough to help u. Lovely quaint hotel just needs updating a bit. Brilliant location. didnt like bed in first room so given some alternatives to choose from.
That its closing
Brilliant value for money in a decent hotel. Had everything I could have asked for. Brilliant breakfast included. What a shame it's closing, as I had only just found it!
What's not to like?
The staff of this hotel could not do enough to make our stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. The room provided all that I needed for a short break and overlooked the beautiful gardens.Although the decor was tired , it had a homely and cosy feel to it .and we are so sad to hear this beautiful buiding will be closing down. This was my second stay within a month and I would of definatley visited again, I always put how you are made to feel in a hotel way above mod cons and decor. My dog was made wellcome and given a sausage for breakfast every morning, we could then go straight out the hotel grounds and we were in the forrest for her walks. I would like to thank the folowing staff for making my stay delightful: Sylvia - reception. Sue - Waitress. Dan - reception.Paul - Night manager, Nick and Jake - Bar staff, and every one else who's name I did not know. You all worked together to make our last stay wonderful Thank you.
The lift was a little scary.
Location, parking, price
I booked a twin bed room for two staff members while on a business trip, they both complained that the beds were far too small for an adult male, to such an extent that one of them spent the night sleeping on the floor, will stick to Premier Inn in the future!
Unfortunately, due to a medical issue we were unable to benefit from the reservation. However, the hotel staff were absolutely fantastic for their understanding and allowed us to cancel the booking, even though we had checked in and unpacked our suitcase! We will definitely be staying there again.
Restaurant staff are unbelievably slow. 35 minutes to get a breakfast with only about 8 people in the restaurant.
Everything we needed for a weekend break and an excellent breakfast.
The lift was a bit strange but didn't bother us.
We have been visiting this hotel for 30years so sad to it go. I like it's old fashioned decor and warm feel. It is a bit run down now and does need renivotating but wish it was not closing. Very sad
The fact it is closing down
A good hearty breakfast easy parking Lyndhurst christmas lights
Only one real ale, and this was off Breakfast buffet was warm/cool rather than hot.
Atmosphere was easy going, informal and laidback.
Probably needs some refurbishment in places, but we were disappointed to hear that it is closing down on Jan 4th as we would otherwise have revisited.
Location and price
Well past its best. Poor bathroom Poor bed Noisey
It was central to the forest and very quiet
The location was spot on for commuting to Southampton
The hot breakfast buffet was anything but.
Although there was a problem, it was dealt with outstandingly, surprised and reassured that some establishments put the customer first without question
Some areas of hotel were not heated and smelt of damp in corridors.. Not good for my asthma. I didn't stay for second night braise of this but manager was magnificent about it. Things cab go wrong, it's how is put right that matters
Friendly staff, good breakfast; imposing building.
