The service at reception was courteous, efficient and welcoming. This was the case on check-in, check-out and when making enquiries about local services. Clearly the hotel needs refurbishment, especially on the outside approaches which are grim to behold. In both the rooms and the common areas too although they were still comfortable, however that did not cause any particular dislike. I didn't like the way we were given a table in the darkest part of the breakfast room when there were tables available in the lighter areas of the conservatory and front salon which were empty but had just not been cleaned up. The words used were "I haven't got any clean ones in there", well get someone to set about cleaning them then!!

The hotel was very poor and we was waiting for Mr Bean to make an appearance at any minute. Very dated decoration in the rooms. In serious need of modernisation.

The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. They accommodated our needs extremely well and went out of their way to help us especially with our 3 year old daughter. The hotel is a bit tatty especially in the corridors but our room, bar and dining areas were well maintained and clean. Our room had a couple of things that could do with a lick of paint but overall it was spacious, very clean and comfortable so a little bit of paint peeling of the radiator did not seem important to us.

Staff were very good, helpful and informative, breakfast was excellent. Location very good. Hotel was a little tired looking. Room and bathroom needed attention. Pillows awful although replaced on complaint. Diningroom menu was O.K. but we chose not to eat there as diningroom looked gloomy. Although I've ticked the NO box below, would if it was redecorated.

Room was a good size and comfortable. Interior of hotel was clean and well maintained. Restaurant served a decent breakfast. Bar staff were friendly. Excellent location for exploring New Forest and walking distance to Lyndhurst and its range of shops, pubs and restaurants. Seemed popular with young families. Exterior of hotel lets it down as it is very shabby and tired. Even a few planters would help to add a bit of life and colour to the place.

The external view and reception is reasonable. The quality of the corridors and room was only fair. I thought that it was a bit overpriced at £92 per night including breakfast. It is a good location for getting around the New Forest.

The fact that it was right in the middle of Lyndhurst. Comfortable beds. Long distance from reception to our room. Constant high pitched whine/buzzing could be heard in the room day and night. Breakfasts not particularly good quality. Staff average.

Staff were excellent, the food was good. Breakfast was plentiful. The room was clean and spacious with 2 arm chairs and a small table by the window. Lots of wardrobe space, a trouser press and kettle/tea/coffee etc. Our ensuite had a bath, the twin room mymum and sister stayed in only had a shower. Although the hotel needs updating the friendly helpful staff more than compensated for that. If we needed to stay in the area again I would definitely consider staying there again. The hotel needs updating both inside and out. The initial view of the hotel if you come from the town side is off-putting, which is a shame.

Staff were very friendly especially the lady on reception. Externally the hotel is not very appealing on first impressions, and would give the wrong impression. Internally decor could be improved but this is only visual. Toilet had some visible limescale and due to the odd shaped toilet brushes which wouldn't reach it (I tried!). We really enjoyed our stay over the holiday week, food was excellent, rooms tidy and clean with delightful staff. Would recommend the hotel to friends and family.

We like the hotel because we like the location in the village of lynhurst.we have stayed many times. We thought the hotel looked very tired,it could do with a refurbishment especially in the room we stayed in which was one of the furthest rooms from the reception.

Super position - just a hundred or so yards from Lyndhurst town centre on one side, the other direction you can walk straight into the New Forest. Good central location for New Forest and close to Brockenhurst, Lymington, Beaulieu. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable with good views. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We only had a Continental breakfast but it was very good - fruit, cereal or porridge, croissants, bread, cheese, ham, fruit juice, coffee or tea, toast and jam etc, Nothing - would be pleased to stay again.

The close proximity to Lyndhurst shops/town centre. The Country Park right on the doorstep. The grounds to the rear of the hotel were spacious. An ideal location that allows town to meet countryside, with Lyndhurst situated on the major road through that area of the New Forest the hotel was set back far enough to enable enjoyment and relaxation. I will stay there again! There was no seating other than the patio at the rear of the hotel.. There were no loungers/beds in areas. Although there was a tennis court no racquet and balls were available. Understandably the open air pool was still covered and not available. The fact that these are advertised should have an addendum to note limited usage.
