The service at reception was courteous, efficient and welcoming. This was the case on check-in, check-out and when making enquiries about local services. Clearly the hotel needs refurbishment, especially on the outside approaches which are grim to behold. In both the rooms and the common areas too although they were still comfortable, however that did not cause any particular dislike. I didn't like the way we were given a table in the darkest part of the breakfast room when there were tables available in the lighter areas of the conservatory and front salon which were empty but had just not been cleaned up. The words used were "I haven't got any clean ones in there", well get someone to set about cleaning them then!!

It is located in a lovely village with plenty of local pubs and restaurants. Very close to the New Forest. The hotel is very tired looking inside. It could do with refurbishing. Lacking in the finer points e.g. the breakfast wasn't quite ready at 7 and the napkins had christmas holly on them.

Location was great and staff were very polite. The sound proofing is appalling. We could hear our neighbours using the bathroom and the cistern running. Guests coming in from in the early hours in the room above dropping things and moving about sounded much louder than it should have done and as a result I got to sleep around 3am. Not well rested at all. Although it is not the fault of the staff that the sound proofing needs improving, I do think they should have put out more signs/notices for guests to respect other guests late at night.

I had found the details of Lyndhurst Park Hotel online and read through many of the reviews which were varying degrees of happy. A few commented on the tiredness of the hotel decor whereas others had added that a hotel of that age acquired it's charm that way. Through the reviews we booked. I had emailed the hotel as I believed that the garden reviews were the best. I emailed the hotel requesting a garden view room with a bathroom of good standards - and that is exactly what we got - a great room with a four poster bed (Rm 8) overlooking the gardens. Our meal on the first night in the restaurant was nice however I was disappointed to see that nobody else had 'dressed for dinner'. There were people eating in tracksuits and one ladt in a puffa gillet. It certainly ruined the evening meal for me as I feel there should be some standards requested of guests at a sit down evening meal - I felt it brought the standards down. However, the location is perfect, right in the centre of Lyndhurst and we walked into town for dinner the second night, walked around the shops and it is close enough for walks. We visited Exbury Gardens and Furzeley which are both definitely work a visit - especially when the Rhododendrons are in full colour. Absolutely stunning. The girls on Reception were very helpful (thank you to them for arranging a top room) and a very pleasant, relaxing stay. We will no doubt be back. A few licks of paint required here and there - particularly stairacse up to Room 8. No one 'dressed for dinner'.

We had room 1 which was lovely and spacious and clean with a lovely view of the back gardens - the presentation of breakfast was also very good. All staff we meet were also very polite and friendly. We would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend to friends

Location friendly staff Room was very tired paint was falling from ceiling into bath, big hole in cupboard. Corridors were often smelly. Smelt of cigarettes and a rotten pong. Ordered a tuna sandwich on white bread with mayo and no salad for my 9 year old son but came on brown bread no mayo and salad...and kids are not happy when its not right! sad that the hotel has been allowed to fall into the state it has, a lot of potential in the right hands!

The hotel was very poor and we was waiting for Mr Bean to make an appearance at any minute. Very dated decoration in the rooms. In serious need of modernisation.

The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. They accommodated our needs extremely well and went out of their way to help us especially with our 3 year old daughter. The hotel is a bit tatty especially in the corridors but our room, bar and dining areas were well maintained and clean. Our room had a couple of things that could do with a lick of paint but overall it was spacious, very clean and comfortable so a little bit of paint peeling of the radiator did not seem important to us.

Staff were very good, helpful and informative, breakfast was excellent. Location very good. Hotel was a little tired looking. Room and bathroom needed attention. Pillows awful although replaced on complaint. Diningroom menu was O.K. but we chose not to eat there as diningroom looked gloomy. Although I've ticked the NO box below, would if it was redecorated.

Room was a good size and comfortable. Interior of hotel was clean and well maintained. Restaurant served a decent breakfast. Bar staff were friendly. Excellent location for exploring New Forest and walking distance to Lyndhurst and its range of shops, pubs and restaurants. Seemed popular with young families. Exterior of hotel lets it down as it is very shabby and tired. Even a few planters would help to add a bit of life and colour to the place.

The external view and reception is reasonable. The quality of the corridors and room was only fair. I thought that it was a bit overpriced at £92 per night including breakfast. It is a good location for getting around the New Forest.

The fact that it was right in the middle of Lyndhurst. Comfortable beds. Long distance from reception to our room. Constant high pitched whine/buzzing could be heard in the room day and night. Breakfasts not particularly good quality. Staff average.
