Me and my partner went here for a few days break and it was great, we were both really chilled out and had a lovely time.
location excellent,staff very helpful.
no comfortable public sitting area
The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly and efficient
it was only a 2 night stay
Staff were very friendly & helpful.
Room was very nice. Friendly staff. Nice setting. Character of old building.
Bed was much too soft for me.
Spa facilities and treatments
Restaurant and bar very expensive
Superb setting, well maintained grounds
Paper thin walls, hence you can hear your neighbours Uncomfortable bed and pillows of poor quality Stains on the chairs Hairs left in the bath Having to wait 40mns for cooked breakfast Having to ask staff to replenish buffet offering
We were made to feel very welcome and liked the way the hotel was spread over different buildings rather than just in a block.
Staff well trained Good facilities Haselmere is a pleasant town with interesting shops and restaurants Good breakfast
Lovely romantic weekend, very comfortable, relaxing location. Brilliant spa with lovely treatments.
Was a bit frustrating to be in the spa while children were allowed into the pool, bit this was only for a short period of the day.
Really nice spacious room, which was very clean. Wi fi was good and both dinner and breakfast was excellent. The gym was also well equipped.
The setting was beautiful and grounds well maintained. The spa facilities were excellent, although beware if you are looking for a peaceful break, kids take over the pool from 3-4.30pm, shattering all hope of peace and relaxation! breakfast was fantastic. Spacious room, bed was comfortable although very low! We had a great stay and will definitely return.
Prices in the restaurant are ridiculous! We don't mind paying extra for good food but the prices in the restaurant did not match the food! Layout of Bath and shower poorly thought out.
Spa area was excellent. Nice changing area. Rooms were quite spacious with sleeping area separate form TV area/lounge. Restaurant staff very friendly.
When I went to restaurant to get some ice I was told there wasn't any for customers just enough for restaurant
I loved the location and set out of the hotel. Was a lovely setting. And beautiful buildings.
The spa was not worth the walk down and the getting changed. It was awful. The reason for the visit was for the spa. I wish I hadn't bothered in this case.
It is only an hour from SW London so perfect for an evening away in the 'countryside'. The staff were very helpful - one advised of a great walk which was two hours of breathtaking views. The perfect quick break away! The gentleman who was looking after the restaurant was also a gem and very accommodating so thank you to the friendly staff at the Lythe.
Beautiful surroundings, really peaceful hotel.
We arrived quite late but expected to get a drink at least. The restaurant, however, closed their door in front of our nose at 10.40pm. Fortunately the lady in the reception was really nice and we were able to order drinks and enjoy them at the lobby.
The location is good and the surroundings are attractive - lovely woodland and grounds. When we complained about our room the receptionist did not hesitate to offer an alternative.
The first room (Jane Seymour) we were offered was not at all acceptable. Stained carpet, view over flat roof and fire escape, very shabby furniture and bed which was too soft. The bathroom was completely unacceptable with a cracked lavatory pedestal and a wooden seat which was askew. The old roll top bath had not been cleaned properly (hairs) and there was no shower at all. The second room was better but even that was a bit tired looking and could be updated. The restaurant was poor value for money and the head waiter was supercilious and inattentive.
Absolutely loved the Restaurant, the food and atmosphere were excellent, couldn't fault it.
Room itself was very small and tight, not much space for moving around and WiFi not great.
quietness sandwiches grounds
staff totally not bothered that my stay with my young son was ruined by the lack of availability of the swimming pool to him. Two single hours were allocated over a 24 hour period for childrrn to use the pool. when I pointed out this was the reason I had booked this hotel in particular the frosty reply of we don't have that many children in the hotel. my thoughts : either cater for families or don't. either is fine but don't be so unhelpful about it. a weekend treat ruined by such unconcern. in general my room was comfortable but a bit grubby - stains on the seats and hair in the bath. the food was good though.
Setting - well maintained gardens Staff polite and helpful 24 hour front desk helpful Quiet location
Very uncomfortable beds in both rooms: 1st room experienced very thin wall to neighboring room and subsequent loud snoring from occupant of that room so we requested a move at midnight to a better room (which we paid towards). Executive room much better but bed still quite uncomfortable. Cupboard drawers didn't shut, fan made a racket. Dust in many places. Shame since it has great potential. Definitely need to revisit the mattress in the 2 rooms we stayed in!!
The old Tudor Building is beautiful and creates a very intimate experience for the fine dining. The food was exquisite and the service impeccable. The grounds are stunning and abundant with wildlife, particularly at dusk when the lawns are littered with bunny rabbits. The spa was very relaxing and clean and looked out onto the lawns and surrounding woodland.
The furnishings, upholstery in the room and communal areas are dated and in some arrears look like they are not actually cleaned. The bed linen needed updating also.
The restaurant was Great
The carpets in the rooms (and I was shown 3) were stained and still covered in hair. Generally the rooms need a thorough clean. In general the hotel rooms don't do their web site justice!
everything is still as good as our first visit, somethings are looking their age now.
the shelley room is looking a bit tired and worn.
