We liked all of the hotel and its facilities, especially the pool area. Great bedroom and fabulous power shower. Food was of a very high quality.
My wife and I had an excellent stay at Lyzzick Hall, our room was well appointed, comfortable, and clean and we had a beautiful view. Staff was friendly and helpful. The best place we stayed our trip across England -- only wish we could have stayed longer.
We chose this hotel because of the pool facilities. Once we arrived we found that the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The slightly out of town location meant that we had an excellent night's sleep and that there was completely unspoilt views out over the Lake District.
The location and view Swimming pool/ sauna/ jacuzzi Comfortable room Lovely breakfast
The grounds and hotel are lovely. We were upgraded to a beautiful room.
We had a terrible time finding the hotel because we couldn't enter the road on our GPS nor the postal code. We had to stop at the information center in town to ask. It's not close to anything and the restaurant was VERY expensive and limited for dinner. We did without any dinner. The hotel has a lot of stairs, even two to the bathroom!
Very scenic and beautifully picturesque
Breakfast could be a bit better, although was good
Lovely setting - swimming pool, sauna and jacuzzi, quality of the food
Unfortunately waiting to be served got longer and longer over four days until the last evening meal was spoilt by taking 2 and quarter hours being overtaken by people coming in later. The manager seemed puzzled when we drew this to his attention.
lovely pool and view of the fells. Excellent food, and attention to detail by all staff. welcoming atmosphere. a late supper was available for me as I had been to the theatre.
Being reprimanded for asking for a glass of prosecco, told it was "a Spanish restaurant". I assumed I was in the Lake district! I meant no offence - perhaps it was said as a joke but I didn't take it as such. I got some cava instead.
We had afternoon tea in the garden to enjoy the view. The room, although it did not have a grand view, looked out on the herb garden which was lovely. The windows opened in the room which was fabulous. Fresh air and good sleep go together! The breakfasts were great, with many options available.
Our dinner selection options were not clear enough. The dinner is 4 courses with a two course option, which we did not find out about until after our meal.
On entering the hotel after a tiring day walking we were greeted by a very pleasant receptionist who seemed genuinely nice, nothing was a bother. We were directed to a very nice room. Nothing outstanding but very nice. However when we went down to the bar for a drink we began to see what an understated gem this hotel was. We sat out on the terrace with our drinks and enjoyed the most fantastic views. There was something about this hotel that was worlds away from the run of the mill chain hotels. In the evening we ate in the hotel. There was a set price for a 4 course meal, of which I have to say we both really enjoyed and have told our friends about on our return home. It was a little formal and did alarm us a little as my husband only had taken jeans to wear on our trip away. However the staff paid no attention to this. After dinner we were encouraged to go into the lounge for coffee. It was just perfect. In the morning we went for a swim before breakfast. We were pleased to find a very clean pool and hot tub. The views from here were also unbelievable. I started speaking to a couple who had been coming for the last 20 years. This did not shock me as myself and my Husband can`t wait to book up again!!!
The food was brilliant (I am a trained chef), try the 7 course taster menu. WOW. The staff are exceptional a great mix of friendly and professional. Everything spotlessly clean. You felt welcome and not crowded. They wanted you to enjoy yourself and boy do you enjoy it. I will return!
Everything was superb, from the moment we arrived. Lovely room with beautiful view, staff were so switched on and made you feel very welcome and comfortable. The meal we had was will never be forgotten, amazing! Pool was an added bonus. Have recommended to many friends and family and hope one day to come back.
room is not sound proofing, people from the next room came back around 2am and we can hear everything.
Myself and my husband would like to thank the staff for making our first stay at lyzzick hall even more special, by offering us a free room upgrade upon arrival, which was beautiful and the views were breathtakingly from the bay window. Also at dinner we were presented with dessert that chef had wrote on the player's "happy anniversary" which was a lovely touch.Staff were very helpful and very friendly. Many thanks again. We will return.
Well I can honestly say that we can not find any fault other than we did not want to leave, and that 2 days just simply was not long enough to appreciate the grounds and the hotel itself, the pool and Jacuzzi looked amazing but we did not have time to enjoy it, maybe next time.
Attentive and friendly staff. Beautiful gardens. Beautiful room with stunning view. Quiet location very close to Keswick. The pool was much appreciated by my wife. The food was generally excellent.
If WiFi available in rooms then other guests might not use lounges for watching iPads. Chorizo style black-pudding was a little much at breakfast time even for me as an avid black pudding maker and consumer.
Great location, quiet, super attentive staff, good food
It was a great location. The hotel was tastefully furnished and very comfortable. The staff were efficient and friendly
There was nothing I didn't like
Staff are excellent. Food was excellent and of a high standard.
Dinner was not served until 7pm everynight which is to late for me and my husband. There was also no other food or snacks for us to purchase at all so the wait between meals seemed alot longer. The only menu was a set price menu an option for one meal would of been nice.
Excellent dinner! Pool area with amazing views. Friendly attentive staff. The property itself and its location. Lovely gardens.
Room could have been a tad better for the price.
We arrived at Lyzzick Hall after an exhausting 26 hour flight from Australia and found it to be a little piece of heaven. The views were glorious, the room incredibly peaceful, the décor extraordinarily stylish, the food delicious and the staff gracious.
Swimming Pool - it's why we booked Being Upgraded to a junior suite Lovely Location with beautiful views
We had to leave our key with reception when we went out. Came back late to find it on unstaffed reception desk - number on keyfob clearly visible. No apology when we mentioned it. Come back "late" (e.g. after midnight) and you'll be locked out. Breakfast is mean - the minimum. Awful coffee. Weak tea. Terribly weak wi-fi and that only available downstairs. Never anyone on reception to answer the phone. If you want anything you'll have to go searching up and downstairs. Why can't staff carry a hands-free? No newspapers - not even in the communal lounge. Felt cold and a bit unwelcoming.
Beautiful country hotel in a fabulous location with stunning views. The staff were all very friendly and efficient and the hotel had a lovely welcoming feeling from the start of our stay. All lounges and restaurant are beautifully maintained and decorated as was our bedroom and en suite bathroom. We had two breakfasts and one evening meal which were all very good quality and well cooked. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
There was nothing to dislike about this hotel.
The evening menu was brilliant.
Unable to book 1 night over the weekend.
The staff were really excellent. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. It is in a fantastic location with amazing views over the Derwent Water hills. The included breakfast was very good indeed. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were warm and well maintained and had a view to die for through the large glass windows.
The internet access was very poor. There was no lift. The bed was a little too firm for my liking but I am about to have a hip replacement! The dinner menu was too pricey for us to eat in.
A very nice hotel in a picturesque setting. The hotel was easy to find and the room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was excellent and reasonably priced.
The internet connection had a tendency to drop out at peak times in the evening.
