From the moment we arrived to the time we left the hotel staff were most courteous, and the feature room was to die for.
Location and food and a sherry on arrival.
Friendliness of welcome. Very nice staff, super food. Very well appointed room. Very nice breakfast.
Clean and immaculate decor
Shower feeble. Bar meals over-priced
Lovely Hotel with nice views comfortable room and nice food
Lovely big comfy bed Delicious food
Breakfast food supplement for smoked haddock. Dinner supplement for cheese. Dinner at £40 was over priced, wine at £25 was very over priced
The whole ambience of the hotel, peaceful surroundings, courteous and efficient staff.Comfort of our room was excellent.Definitely return and recommend to friends.
WFI was not free as we were led to believe from Booking.com but it was not a big issue with us.
The views surrounding the hotel
To wake up to the sound of a dog barking for half an hour Sunday morning. Being told I couldn't sit by the window because the waitress didn't have time to clear the tables!!
Loved the surroundings and the Views of the lake,
Our bedroom looked over the car Park so had to keep curtains closed for privacy
All staff very obliging in particular head waiter Food was very good.
Bathroom was very small and wi-fi was erratic
Quiet location pleasantly situated next to Ullswater lake.
One of the main reasons for chosing this hotel over a slightly cheaper hotel without WiFi was the free WiFi offered. Very unhappy - only BT openzone customers get free internet. Cost to conect for everyone else is £25/5 days or £10/day. False advertising and complaining to Macdonald group. Also no 3 phone coverage in this area exacerbated this problem.
We loved the setting. The staff were very helpful, friendly and efficient. Room was comfortable and clean. Food was worth the wait.
We were very inconvenienced by the lack of WiFi We chose this hotel as it advertised free WiFi in all areas and in fact the WiFi was only available for existing BT customers. My husband had some business to attend to during our stay which was impossible. Our booking conditions stated clearly that free WiFi was available in all areas of the hotel!!
The hotel is lovely with splendid views. The rooms are very lovely. Staff helpful when there was a problem
-Guests should not have to pay for Wi-Fi; -The food was not good. I sent back my dinner in the evening and then again the night before = not hot. Warm is not acceptable. -Dining room was lacking in ambience. I practically sat on the next table because of the lack of space between; - hotels down the road offered free Wi-Fi, hot food and spa facilities;
The restaurant was excellent. Delicious dinner.
There was no hotel Wi Fi. Only BT Openzone for those with BT accounts.
landscape is very beautiful where you can just walk to the lake beach
post code may leads to a wrong place about 200 yards away
Super location - excellent staff - good food - understated.
Location on lake Ullswater, views and room location all good.
Shower only luke warm,Having to authorise £50 on credit card to cover room service in case we used it.Limitations of access for pets, not really dog friendly.no draft beer in the hotel bar, bottles only at greatly inflated prices.Toilet not flushing properly.
Everything was perfect even though the decorators were in. Food, room, with excellent bathroom/shower .A perfect place in the Lake District.
Just back from a month in the USA ,"free internet" where ever we stayed and also at 2 other hotels we stayed at whilst touring in the Lakes. The management need to look at this option.
very cold in room when windy as wind blew in balcony door as if door was open!!!!
The location sat on Ulswater was amazing. Views must be some of the best anywhere. The rooms were spacious and done to a high standard. Half the staff were great. Food was very good.
Common areas needed a refurbishment. Bar was poor. Half staff did not want to be there. Little expensive. Poor car park. Expensive set dinner price. Beds could have been better
Location, views, friendly.
Food and drinks were over priced for bar menu considering size and quality.
Location Food Staff responded to curtain problem well.
Wi fi was not free as described in booking form
the room, the meals the ambiance
the wi-fi was very poor, and there was some sort of mix up. i booked through booking .com and it said free wi-fi but the hotel said that it was a mistake however they did give me free wi-fi and im pleased i hadn't had to pay separate for it as it was very poor. everything else was ace.
location fantastic breakfast very good staff first rate
no balcony with room
