The east cost receptonist was amazing. He could not do enough for us. Great and professional. The rooms were modern and very nice. The one massive problem was the windows. Very noisy hard to sleep. And I can sleep. It's a big problem that let's the hotel down badly. I won't stay again due to that. It was that bad. 5Th floor I could hear people talking on the side walk. Windows. Noise. Bad thing.

Staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Great location. Beds were a bit 'mushy' but perhaps that's UK norm? No fitness center of any sort. Hotel does not really have a lobby as such, but this is more about asthetics than functionality.

The chief steward/F&B manager (Matthew) was extremely helpful, insightful, and personable. Location is excellent. Beds/mattresses were a bit soft by American standards

I stayed for 3 nights and chose the Hotel for its location. Its ideally situated between Piccadilly Gardens for shopping, and Deansgate for socialising. The staff were friendly and helpful and very courteous. I loved the room which had tea and coffee facilities, an iron with iron board and also a decent hair dryer. The bed was lovely and comfortable and the bathroom was very elegant with the black tiles, mirrors and monsoon shower. I would definatley go back on my next visit. Minor detail which has been mentioned umpteen times...the fact that breakfast is £17.50...what is that all about? It puts a dampener on the stay as there is nothing better than just waltzing downstairs for brekkie in your own hotel or having breakfast in bed rather than moving out to the Coffee House 100 yards up the road for full breakfast for £3.99- call me a cheapskate but what would you rather pay?

Hardly used any facilities, but was clean and very comfortable. Double windows fitted, so noise from street not a problem as other reviews suggest (and we stayed on a saturday night) Overpriced for what you get. Paid for a superior room; it was only just big enough to fit the bed in. To be fair the bed was huge, but still, a standard room couldnt have been any smaller, so dont know what the extra tenner was for.

The staff were exceptionally helpful and polite. We stayed in rom 409 which was a corner room overlooking the street, it was clean spacious and comfortable. Location was very central and within easy walks to shops and museums. Great stay. The only disappointing aspect of the trip was the breakfast which was slightly overlooked and the buffet aspect was not re-filled.

The Receptionist staff are extremely helpful and really couldn't do enough to make my stay a great one. The hotel room is well decorated, excellently furnished and clean. The hotel is also in a great location and conveniently placed for the city centre. This was my third stay at the Macdonald Townhouse and I definitely will be back!

A very central location, we were at a 10CC concert at Bridgewater Hall and this hotel was just about perfect. Indeed, the whole of Central Manchester is minutes walk away and the route through Chinatown is fascinating. Staff were extremely helpful, friendly and good humoured. We closed our debit card on arrival, thinking we wouldn't need it again. Mistake! After the concert, gin and tonics were required and we had to pay by card when charging it to the room would have been simpler. Breakfast I'm certain is wonderful, but the price is geared to those on an expense account, as are most things in the hotel. There are some great breakfast places, especially in the Northern Quarter, where very good breakfasts come at half the price. Reservations cannot be cancelled, you book, you pay! Other hotels do not penalise you in this way.

Friendly staff and a great location. We had a meal at the hotel and found the price to be a little expensive for the food we had. Good food but overpriced compared to other nearby places.

Available and gentle staff, clean room, wireless connection appreciated, comfortable bed (but short) A very simple breakfast with Cappuccino and croissant for 17 £ is extremely expensive. If you decide not to do the English Breakfast go in the city and you will straightway find something cheaper!

A warm welcome by the staff who were all helpful and polite. The room was comfortable and spotless. Room service was quick. we loved our stay and would stay again, I think the price fore breakfast is far too expensive at £17.50 pp a less expensive price would have seen us take breakfast at the hotel

Good location for meeting and social life. Pleasant staff with comfortable room. Efficient. Well done Rebecca on the front desk. The ecolights warm up too slowly in the bathroom making shaving a slow process.
