The bedroom was excellent. Clean and well furnished and obviously recently modernised. Well done, it looked and felt very good. Reception staff and manager were very helpful and welcoming. Good breakfast.

Evening meal was poor and not worth the wait or the cost. All a bit average, under the pretence of a new modern bistro. Disappointing.

Very nice receptionist - made sure that we knew where to go and was generally welcomming.

We are former Caithness residents and had previosuly had a good meal at the Bistro. Sadly the hotel now seems to be trading on former glories. The downstairs decor is good but the lift is antiquated and our room was on the third floor - with an elecric heater that you had to crawl under the desk to operate. The bed was good. There was no heating to the bathroom which was therefore freezing. The dinner was expensive and the quality did not match the price. We were offered a single slice of dry bread. The service was not a great experience also. Breakfast was not much better. The protions were small and the food rather tasteless. Again a single slice of toast was the ration. We booked there for a birthday treat. It was a disappointing and costly experience and we would not stay there again.

Very friendly staff. The restaurant served a very good steak and the service was excellent. The breakfast was first rate too. The bed was very comfortable. We were happy we chose The Mackay's Hotel

The hotel is beautiful, and wonderfully situated in Wick. From the moment we checked in until we left, we felt right at home. Every member of the staff made us feel welcome, and anticipated our every need. The rooms were comfortable and the entire historic building was tastefully appointed. Highly recommended.

I enjoyed the comfort and warmth of the hotel. The very friendy very helpful staff. Dining in the restaraunt was a treat. The black pudding with the breakfast. Will stay there again.

The helpfulness of the staff. I arrived late at night after a very long journey and I received the most wonderful welcome. They went out of their way to find me something to eat and drink and all during my stay showed great kindness and helpfulness, eg when I asked the way to the bus station, the boss took me there in his car to show me. Such wonderful service makes the difference between a good hotel and a great hotel and is what keeps guests returning. Dinner at the No 1 Bistro was also excellent - the best fish and chips I've had in years.

I am reluctant to say anything, because I had such a pleasant stay, but I thought the room was overpriced. The bathroom was big, but the room itself was tiny. For 99 pounds, it was not good value for money. Even a Swiss hotel (normally much more expensive than the uk) would give you a better room for less money.

Very comfortable and friendly experience. The owner/manager was attentive to all his guests during the evening dinner as well as the next day while checking-out. The No. 1 Bistro (on the shortest road in the world) is part of the hotel, and the food was excellent. A table needs booked in advance, but the quality of the food and service provided is of a very high standard, and worth the higher prices than what is offered elsewhere. The bedroom was very comfortable. The room we had had a huge bed, large TV and a jacuzzi bath that worked very well.

Its a very nice hotel, and its my third time staying there. Its convenient for visting my family grave.

The decor is dated and tired. The evening meal in the hotel Bistro was quite good but very slow in arriving. The staff shouls note? The plates from the first course need to be removed before serving the second course.

The hotel was central, comfortable and clean. The food was exellent by Scottish hotel standards and the service from the staff was, in my opinion, exceptional.

The corridors were poorly lit.

The building itself is unique,and its location is excellent. Staff, food, service & cleanliness all fantastic, good value for money. Our room was on the small side, simply due to the shape of the building, however we were only in the room to sleep & to shower, etc.. so wasn't an issue. If staying for more than 1 or 2 nights would book a larger room

The restaurant was closed by the time I arrived (due to a delayed flight) and there was no room service available.

I cannot fault anything about this hotel. The staff were very helpful and kind. They tried there best to make me and my fiance feel special on our engagement night. The food in the restaraunt was also lovely and they have a lovely cocktail bar for relaxing. Would recommend to anyone

The hotel was quite opulent, the beds were comfy, the staff amazing and the breakfast was very very good.

The elevator was a tad scary, but it is an old hotel. The walls were very very thin. We had a very loud American talking on his mobile phone in the room next to us at 11pm at night and could hear every word.

Had a lovely time staff really friendly and helpful. Rooms very clean and an oversall feel good factor. Would stay again although not cheap but you get what you pay for.

For me it felt like a home from home the staff were very pleasant , could not do enough to make you feel welcome
