a better quality mattress would have been appreciated on the double bed
Size of Room Car parking Country Location Cooked Breakfast
Does what it says on the tin!
Great breakfast, great room.
Hotel in need of a facelift re decor and could do with some tlc BUT it was clean comfortable and very welcoming. Excellent value for money which included a good English breakfast. I would recommend it and will pay another visit.
Friendly staff. Good English breakfast .
Hotel decor a bit tired. In need of updating.
The carvery on an evening is good value for money during the week.
The room I stayed in was poor, the bath has a big hole that has been repaired and the shower screen was a waste of time, water everywhere. I had to wipe a load of dust off the top of the tiny kettle only to find there was no cup ! Also the lighting in the room was dismal.
I booked this Hotel after sending a list of Hotels in the Mickleover area of Derby. the couple chose Mackworth hotel as it looked like a good English building. They were not disappointed . Every day they had a 'good English breakfast' they had plenty to eat and had nothing but praise for the staff. During the 4 days their son was homesick (he was staying with an English family) and son moved into the hotel .he slept in his parents room and the manager was very accomodating and the family were greatly appreciative.
Great staff and location. Good bedroom size
Whole place needs an overhaul. Very tired and shabby. Curtains were literally hanging off the window! Not cleaned well. Bathroom tiny. Not great breakfast choice. Very slow wifi.
Really nice over night stay, very clean, the room was nice and staff very friendly.
I was pleasantly surprised by the size of our bedroom, the bed was comfortable & a bonus was to find we had a separate lounge with TV in it, where we had the tea, coffee & biscuits supplied in adequate quantity. All this as well as a good sized bathroom with a plenteous supply of hot water from a shower which worked well. Breakfast was very well cooked & plenty of it, our compliments to the chef! The grounds are vast & would be great if you had kids with you that want to run about, also there are plenty of out door picnic benches to sit at on a fine evening if you fancy an after evening meal drink. All in all excellent value for money & I would recommend this hotel to everybody as the location to Derby & the Peak District is perfect! FIVE STAR RECOMMENDATION FROM ME!
The hotel was a bit tired & needed a bit of money invested in it to freshen up the décor & especially the lighting which was quite dim especially in the dinning area.
On site parking, good size room with en suite, food very good, carvery excellent value, good breakfast. Staff were excellent.
Being woken up at 6.35 by a delivery truck moving cages in the car park under my bedroom window.
breakfast good, staff friendly, good location, was very good value for money
rather tired decor, a bit cobwebby- needs money spending on it! Sadly our mattress was uncomfortable so didnt sleep much and woke with backache
We attended a wedding and I must say the food was excellent, the staff very good but we thought the rooms are a little tired and could do with a lick of paint and a change of carpet and would have been disapointed if we had paid any more.
Very good value - bedroom and breakfast were fine.
Nothing I didn't like, but there were parts that needed a coat of paint!
The price and availability were very good. It was easy to find and plenty of onsite parking. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast is served 7-9am. The first morning was too late as we had to be out early (and no alternative was offered), and the second day, when we would have preferred a lie-in, we found the 9am finish was too early (10.30am would have suited better). Breakfast was 'okay' - we've had better elsewhere.
great location, good parking, meals were excellent especially the carvery and were great value for money, good variety of breakfasts as well, would definitely stay again
room needed a good vacuuming, window was loose and curtains needed repairing
everything I made a mistake in my booking and they were very accommodating in changing it around, they were friendly and just made the whole stay lovely
Food was good pub fare. Beer was very good.
Room was absolutely freezing on arrival with radiator clearly not working. Reaction on complaining about this was that we had not given it long enough to heat up. Possibly so, if we were prepared to wait until next June!
The resturant and bar (real ale)
On a busy road so traffic noise may be a problem for some people despite the double glazing
Excellent value carvery.
Traffic noise as my room was nearest to the A52.
the hotel was very nice and cosy everything was there we needed and staff friendly and nothing was to much trouble.
