Room was fantastic - lovely decor and very comfortable, the cake in the room on day of arrival was a nice touch too. Good central location, staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was fantastic. We were a little worried that we would be disturbed by noise from the bar below, but this wasn't an issue at all.
We stayed in the suite and the size of the room was amazing. We had a large bathroom, bedroom and living area. Food in the restaurant was brilliant and the staff were very friendly.
Wi-fi wasn't the best but we weren't there to surf the internet.
The casual approach and the easy going staff.
Staircase was rather steep for OAPs.
Bed and room. Nice restaurant. Good location.
Bid disorganised when we arrived but the very friendly staff sorted it out. No real complaints at all.
everything was good
wifi in room 2 not working but worked downstairs
10 mins walk from the rail station and right in the town centre. Didn't have dinner but breakfast was fine.
On a very minor point - high standard of fitting out except the bath room plug/plunger didn't fit/operate properly !
Atmosphere, location and staff
Ideal location, although no parking near by.
Needs new towels in room, looked old and yellow and not very big. Extremely noisey if staying in Suite above bar, loud music till 00.30. Found nuts and crisps on floor in sitting area, not cleaned to the best standard. Ideal if your a young couple and like night life.
Good location in town.
Parking was a nightmare, I was kept awake both evenings by music and noisy chatter and various noises from the bar and various folk walking up and down the stairs.
Location in town centre, comfortable rooms with individual flair, good bed and bathroom. Bar/restaurant downstairs was lively and did excellent food. Staff, mostly young, were particularly helpful and friendly. We thought this an ideal environment for a leisure break, more relaxed and more fun than a chain hotel.
There was some traffic noise in our room, which overlooked a one way street but this is an old building in the middle of the town centre, so we felt that was only to be expected.
Excellent location in town centre - very convenient. Staff very friendly & efficient. Building/ rooms quite quirky & interesting - in a good way! A refreshing change from standard 'chain' hotels. Breakfast really good - quite a feast! Good value @£90/night (double room).
Building old & historic so stairs, etc not suitable for some infirm/ disabled guests? Would have appreciated more fruit & yogurts at breakfast - though cooked food excellent!
A great boutique hotel
TV remote controls were rubbish!
Absolutely loved PH .. The food really stands out including little brownie and flapjack treats in the room. Staff so helpful and a relaxed, fun, bustle in the bar and eating area. It's clearly popular and well deserved.
Perhaps just a slightly bigger Tv in the room, otherwise cosy and wonderful.
Everything. Bar brilliant. Staff excellent. Comfortable, trendy, relaxed accommodation. Excellent breakfast
Steep stairs a bit of a problem.
Nice atmosphere, quirky accomodation.
Bit noisy at night.
Loved the location, bed, style, cleanliness, little touches like fridge and free flapjacks in the room.
The breakfast in the morning was shockingly bad. A real shame for such a nice place. Bacon, black pudding and mushrooms were burnt beyond recognition. Black ash on the rest of the food. Saving grace was the great sausage. Eggs benedict was also on a badly burnt and charred muffin and instead of ham as stated in the menu was served with charred back bacon. Serving lady said that's how guests like their breakfasts. (!) we raised this on departure and showed photos of our breakfast but we were still charged full price. My advice is I recommend staying but stick to the cereal at breakfast!
I loved it all- wonderful! Breakfast was excellent too. Thank you. I'll be back :-)
Noisy Dark room - bulbs out
Great room , nothing bad.
the little touches e.g. cake in the room instead of biscuits. Restaurant was superb, the food was excellent. Rooms were of a good size. Cleanliness very good
The food was excellant. We stayed in the suite and it was spacious and comfortable.
Booming noise from bar downstairs, thudding like you wouldnt believe! When we mentiontion to staff next morning were told thats a typical night in Shrewsburry, which is not true as we have stayed in other places there before.
Room Room facilities Food delicious Most of staff. Location Dining room superb value for money.
All but one of staff were very friendly and accommodating. One young woman was a bit po faced and a smile would have been nice but she was efficient and not unpleasant so maybe i am being a bit picky
There was nothing to dislike about this hotel from the friendliness of the staff to the quality of the food. We had booked the suite and I had secretly requested some flowers and a bottle of Prosecco! My wife was completely overjoyed on seeing these as we entered the room!
