We loved the location, great views. Joy the owner was fantastic - very polite and cheery and cooked a wonderful breakfast each morning. We felt very comfortable here and would Definately recommend maeswalter as a place to stay. It is also close to many of the attractions and walks and Brecon is a short drive away for meals in the evening. We enjoyed our stay and will come back again. The rooms were very clean and a nice chocolate treat was supplied each day which was a nice touch and helped the coffee (also supplied) go down nicely. Thankyou Joy for a lovely stay.
It's only a minor thing but I am slightly inclined agree with some previous reviews that it wasn't easy to ensure the shower curtain and shower head were aligned just right so that the water didn't spread all over the floor. Perhaps just needs a longer shower rail and a wider (or double) shower curtain to sort this right out?
A lot of thought has gone into providing first class self catering facilities, things like complimentary tea, coffee, sugar, cereals, milk, salt, pepper, sauces really do make all the difference. The underfloor heating ensured the cottage was warm and cosy throughout, the bathroom towels were super soft and there was a great range of full size toiletries. The location is idyllic and I would definitely recommend staying here.
The lounge is very small and so is the television with not much channels to choose from. Therefore not much you can do after the day light is over. Also there is only two arm chairs in the lounge which could be easily replaced them with a two or three seater sofa. There is no wardrobe or drawers in the cottage but It's ok for a weekend stay but more than that it would be a bit too much.
I love the location
Good location far in to the countryside and lovely views
The television is small with tinny sound, we took dvds to play but it was difficult to get them to work, I think the dvd player is on its way out.
We stayed in the self-contained cottage. The location is excellent, very quiet and peaceful, with no lights around so perfect for stargazing. The kitchen/lounge is small but has everything you need with excellent cooking facilities.
Wish it was a bit cheeper to could go more!
It was so cosy and comfortable with a beautiful view !
Initial shock at how far out it was although when we got used to it, it wasn't that far at all
Great little cottage with everything supplied. Laundry facilities welcome after days on the road. Great scenery looking out the window!
Nothing to report
The power shower was quite exhilarating
Peace & quietness.
It was hard to keep the shower curtain from covering the drain which meant it flooded - just needs to be a little shorter
Very cosy Clean & quiet Lovely location, easy to get to Hay-on-Wye and other towns with a car Washer and dry room - perfect for drying out wet clothes including shoes Friendly chickens!
The quietness of the location and the friendliness of hostess
The lovely cottage is separate from the main house, giving a good degree of privacy. There is plenty of parking and a sun trap of a garden. The location is fantastic - hills and fields all around and huge skies above. The kitchen/living area is small but modern and very well provisioned. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom has an excellent shower with constant hot water. An excellent place to stay and very good value for money.
Great breakfast, fabulous scenery, comfortable room and helpful hostess.
The only thing negative was the mixup in the amount to pay. My booking said £54 when I arrived Iwas told that that was incorrect and it was £80 a night.other than that ...
Great place to stop for anyone looking for a quiet contryside stay. Lots of garden birds, sheep, pheasants, chooks. Lovely breakfast. Joy was a wonderful hostess.
Perfect place to unwind and relax from the rat race, whilst enjoying mother nature's bounty of rabbits, squirrels, sheep, and all kinds of birds including the majestic Red Kite.
Very clean, peaceful, relaxing place in beautiful surroundings and an excellent and very helpful host
It's quite away from the town.
Very good hospitality.
The fact that we could only stay two nights!
The lovely welcome from the hostess. She went out of her way to accommodate us and provided magnificent breakfasts.
