The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The room was well decorated, clean and spacious. Once the negatives are sorted it will be a very good hotel on a budget. The bed had planks of wood screwed to the bed to act as a base. The bath was 2 inches deep after 1 hour of the taps running!

Food was excellent - lovely breakfast. The decor is a bit shabby, and the water pressure not great for showering at peak times.

The area it was in very difficult to say what we liked the breakfast was good and the dining room chairs were very elegant. We would not recommend it or return. Shower didn't work also extractor fan in bathroom had seen better days. Paint peeling from ceiling as entering room, carpet worn in bedroom. Iron had faulty lead basically an electric time bomb ! Not impressed

Shabby, Electrical appliance supplied in dangerous condition, Shower unusable. Connected to electricity but not functioning. Bathroom extractor fan not working and showing evidence of diy repair. No on/off switch on shower or extractor fan. Ceiling coating peeling off. Carpet threadbare. Electric iron given to owners with advice that not in safe conditon. I felt that accommodation was an accident waiting to happen and was concerned about the safety of my teenage children who were in another room! Owners gave excuse of recent ownership and expenditure, but were oblivious to their resposibility to provide safe accommodation! Don't go there! This hotel deserves a visit from the trading standard office and fire safety authorities.

The staff at the reception and bar/ restaurant were very friendly. The bathroom was the worst I've had in a hotel/ b&B before. Brown water came out of the bathroom sink and there was just a dribble of water out of the shower so we couldnt properly shower in the morning. The room also smelled badly of sulpher (this potentially came from the bathroom) and the bed was very hard.

Nice old hotel with a friendly feel, open fires (snow outside!), beams and appropriate furnishings. Bed was extremely comfortable and the shower hot and wet. Narrow winding stairs up to the bedroom. Difficult to negotiate if you had more than a light weekend case. Try for a downstairs room if you have cumbersome luggage.

Staff were friendly and hotel was suitably olde worldy with fire in bar area and beams. We enjoyed our stay and at the price would defintely recommend it to others. The bathroom not only had a stained towel but the shower was an attachment and not a separate unit and therefore the supply was almost non-existent.

Staff, quaintness of pub, quiet. Good food, sofa in bar, Premier room 6 on top floor only had a small shower cubicle with electric shower with no pressure and pretty much unusable, so just a wash at sink. still enjoyed stay but needs new shower and a pump.

Location, old charm, Bedroom and bathroom needs refurbishment: carpet threadbare in places, shower riser rail is very loose on the wall and bathroom very basic generally. Taxis that service the hotel are expensive as they have to travel from Milton Keynes. The hotel should make their guests aware of this. e.g a 2.5 mile trip cost £15!!

Really nice bar with very helpful and friendly staff. Good rooms with all facilities but adapted to fit the struceure fo the 400 year old building. Food was excellent. Over all exceptional value and will stay again. There was no real problems for me.
