I have stayed here several times before and was not disappointed with this visit. Nice staff, good food and easy parking in this clean and comfortable hotel. I will be back
I didn't realise that food is not served on a Monday evening during the quieter winter period - so off to the local pub Not the end of the world and it made a change
Brilliant staff really friendly made me feel very welcome hotel it's self in very good location and in a nice setting
The bedroom could do with a bit of a freshen up, the bathroom was in need of a paint as the steam was peeling the roof paint and black in spots
The road out
Having to leave the Norton house hotel to come to this place that was £2 more than expensive than the Norton at £170 and a step back in time to the 80's. Didn't meet Bazil Faulty but it was his territory. Tired and outdated worth only b and b rates. Stay at the travel lodge if you have the choice. Needless to say we ate one of the complementary strawberries from the fruit bowl and left before this place sucked anymore joy out of us. Expensive strawberry granted but I'd rather stay at home. Wake up people, the bar has risen ! Spend a night at the travelodge or the like and see what people expect as a minimum.
Restaurant food was good. Was welcomed at start then didn't see many members of staff after.
I don't usually review hotels unless they are very good or poor. This is the later! The location and setting of the hotel is good especially for a walk into town. The building and grounds boast something that could be special. The room is reasonably nice regarding bed and decor but ... The bathroom is pretty terrible, very small with wallpapered ceiling which due to condensation is covered in black mould. The floor is uneven and cracked. And the free toiletries were minimal and some from the previous occupant were left. I understand the age of the building prevents and causes some issues but with the size of the bathroom could be made into something special for little money. The next issue was staff or should I say lack of staff. Although the hotel was "full" I didn't see anyone when I checked out in the morning 8am. Then at dinner I went into an empty restaurant 30 mins after it was open and sat for 10 mins without anyone around. Eventually when they decided to come out of hidding in the kitchen I found them very friendly. And the food was very nice ( that was the saving grace for the hotel ) hats off to the chef. The hotel was full of golfers at the time and they would have been paying top money. Maybe there rooms were better? This rant is purely for management to take on board suggestion of modernising the bathroom and having more staff.
Very nice reception staff. Extremely helpful.
Rooms are a bit small and need a refurb.
Location, welcome, lovely food in restaurant
Dustbins fully visible from dining room
Good location Staff friendly and helpful Plenty of parking A bit dated but in good character with area.
Small room Restuarant a bit pricey
Some of the food at breakfast was not that hot. Brasserie expensive.
The bed was god
Tobacosmell in the first room. A big snail in the bath. the room was not propper clean.
Restaurant food was excellent. Staff in hotel very helpful. Great location, quiet at night.
Room & bathroom were very small, not good for working, quilt too heavy weight for summer.
The hotel was cozy and quite. Goid staff and the bar was good.
Housekeeping was not goid left our dirty spoons and old wrappers on the table.
staff helpful and friendly
bedrooms dull, lighting poor
The staff could not have been more helpful. I have stayed in many hotels round the world but here the service and willingness to do anything to assist your comfort was second to none! I would certainly recommend staying here!
The decor is maybe a little twee - I.E. not über chic. But so what! Who cares? It is comfortable and welcoming! It is a family run hotel in a small town in Scotland after all, not a boutique hotel in a European capital!!
the welcome was good, the staff were great, the room was small but clean & comfortable, only view was the conservatory roof but we were only in the room for short periods, the bathroom again small but clean. Dinner was excellent.
limited cooked breakfast buffet. I had to ask for a fried egg, only scrambled was on offer. The continental breakfast croissants left a lot to be desired
Good car park. Close to A1. Very polite staff.
Room far too small. Very tiny washbasin
Very friendly reception lady. Extremely attentive and lovely natured man who waited on us at breakfast. Tables outside were a lovely touch.
A wee traditional Scottish tattie scone might be a nice addition to your tasty breakfast :)
Location and style of the hotel
Classic double room was a bit pokey and wee. Spring loaded toilet door was a bit too lively.
Wi Fi connection - excellent Well lit rooms Good quality food Comfortable beds
Rooms a bit small Shower pressure poor Evening meal was quite expensive
Good location, short stroll to the town, great shower. Very good breakfasts.
The bed was very uncomfortable, so didn't get a very good sleep. Felt the room could do with a wee bit of modernisation, although that doesn't bother us too much as long as it is clean, and we had no complaints as far as that was concerned.
Staff were very friendly and helpful
Although clean rooms and bathrooms were a bit tired and small.
The overall feel of the hotel. Convenient location for our purpose.
Was a bit busy with wedding reception and evening event.
Location was good as we were attending a family wedding at Lennox-Love House, which is why we chose it.
Very dated decor in public areas. Bedroom and bathroom both very small and dark. Not what we would expect for £130 per night for bed and breakfast.
Very comfy beds, excellent food and wonderful staff who were very accomodating with our requests which made our time all the more pleasing. Wolud reccomend the Hotel to anyone wishing to stay in the area.
The staff that we spoke with were extremely helpful especially Fiona
The food was terrible and not really fit for consumption! The breakfast was all precooked and just sitting on a hotplate trolley. The bacon wasn't cooked enough and the scrambled eggs were just sitting in yellow colour liquid! The hotel is pretty basic and not worth the money. Thick dust on the curtain pelmet in our room, the shower pole was hanging off the wall and so was the coat hook on back of door. The electrical appliances had last been tested in 2011 but the tv hadn't even been tested. You were asked if you required clean towels to leave dirty ones in the bath that we did. However the cleaner decided to hang the dirty towels, one over the shower curtain and the it her on the radiator and then turned it on full blast. The room was already too hot without the heating. The whole place needs a total refurbishment in my opinion. Very poor would have expected this from a pub room but not a hotel.
