Lovely and spacious grounds to exercise our two Springer Spaniels. Extremely friendly staff and we would most certainly stay here again. A room off the main hotel opening out onto a courtyard was perfect with two dogs negating the need to walk dogs through the hotel!
Sadly this hotel has not been renovated to the smartest standard. It is clean and tidy but thought has not gone into smaller details: e.g. all 5 room lights (including bedside) turn on and off together and have no independent operation. A pain if you just want to relax in subtle surroundings. One of the window blinds was broken (no curtains so it was needed for privacy) and the toilet plumbing oscillated madly upon flushing. These issues aside, it is a perfect place to stay with dogs and we would definitely stay here again.
Excellent in every way. Staff attentive and kind We would certainly stay again in the future
Location and setting. Friendly and helpful receptionist. Excellent breakfast
Booked standard double all described as having bath. Our room had shower only but a move was facilitated. However this room, particularly the bathroom, needed a refurb and there was a damp patch on the carpet just outside the en-suite. The evening meal was very disappointing. The Waldorf salad was mainly lettuce with no interesting content and the steak was difficult to cut and chewy! Very poor value for money!
Comfortable, good sized room, good location.
The hotel is in a love location with a great dinning room. Breakfast was good. We had a discounted rate so great value for money. Staff were Freindly.
Hotel was a little tired and could do with a spot of decoration here and there.
Great rural location, warm and comfortable rooms, will definitely return.
Beautiful spacious room and lovely public spaces and grounds. We had a very good dinner at the hotel which is so nice after a long day's drive.
Atmosphere of Hotel, lovely 3 course dinner.
Plenty of car parking. Warm room. Good bed. Shower with enough power
Good value and great location with great local transport links
Needs some TLC but they are working on it slowly!
Nice big room with comfy bed. Quiet. Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.
The heated towel rail didn't work which was not fixed while we there. An oil-fired radiator was supplied, but I wasn't too happy with the potential safety risk of this solution
staff very helpful , Room Lovely , Breakfast Plentiful , Great Location
Friendly bar staff
Hot breakfast not great and over priced. Not cooked to order so rubbery eggs and other rubbery items as they where kept warm canteen style.
Character of hotel and beautiful grounds
The hotel was really nicely presented, the rooms were lovely, warm and comfortable. Our room was big enough for two extra kids beds to be added and the hotel was happy to do this, we had planned originally to stay at the Travellodge but this was cheaper AND so much nicer
On the downside the food menu didn't cater for children so we ate at the four square round the corner and went to McDonalds for breakfast. It was also further from Alton Towers than we thought- about 50-60 mins
Room 21 was excellent!
Room 14 was noisy!
The location as was good.
Afternoon tea, cream was stale, the cakes were hard and dated. Not what we expected.
Room, clean ,warm and very comfortable
We had a large room on the 2nd floor with a separate seating area which was ideal for relaxing after a day out walking.
The bed was one of the most comfortable i can remember
Some decor is a little bit tatty in places
Easy check in,large room, good sized bathroom, discounted room became very good value, local pub within walking distance.
Nothing bad to say
the courtyard room we stayed in was perfectly clean and dressed well, the beds were really comfy. The breakfast was very good. The staff were nice.
Our courtyard room number 37 was next to the door for the upstairs rooms so the noise was awful when shutting, our shower was cold as was the bathroom.and my evening meal was substandard for the amazingly over price it was .The grounds are in need of rescue!!
The bed was very comfy. Breakfast was good. Beautiful building with lots of original character and in a beautiful area. Food was delicious - especially the tomato soup!
Spider webs hanging from the ceiling and lampshades. Not enough staff on reception at checkout. No wifi code given at checkin and nobody answering the phone at reception to get one! Bathroom could have been cleaner.
Very friendly + polite reception, showed concern that our stay was to attend a nearby funeral.
Nothing to dislike at all
