poor service at breakfast
Staff were wonderful. Great cocktails, bar staff made a great kid cocktail for my daughter. Great breakfast, nearby restaurants, quick trip to castle etc
No 5 mile hike to car park. Quality feel to the place. Great foodie places closeby. All good.
The comfortable, very clean room, the very substantial continental breakfast box brought to our room on second morning.
The somewhat gloomy entrance
The hotel, staff, accommodation we're what all hotels should offer. A friendly, proffessional service from start to finish. I stay very local but staying at the hotel makes you feel like your a world away from everyday life. A perfect location, with a vast amount of restaurants, pub within walking distance. A very happy customer!!
The location is the bonus as there is a fantastic choice of bars and restaurants all within walking distance as well as the hotels own bar and restaurant which we would recommend. The staff are friendly and very helpfull.Having stayed at the hotel since 2011 we are in a position to recommend this excellent hotel.
My only gripe is one which applies to most hotels in that the bar prices can be a bit steep although I do appreciate quality comes at a price. Maybe some sort of reward system could be intoduced if you are drinking and eating in the hotel.
Close to Edinburgh centre
Bed as hard as nails Room too hot Very noisy
The hotel is a beautiful hotel inside and out, can just do with a little tlc! I loved the bathroom in our leith suite!
We enjoyed our stay everything looked lovely on arrival but when we settled in to our suite (the leith suite) on closer inspection the room was quite run down, curtains are full of rips, we noticed the drapes were missing from the bed which had drawn us to the room in the 1st place, we had problems with the windows and found the last guests lube under our bed!
Spacious, comfortable, stylish room with a fabulous shower!Really good bar with a great selection of cocktails.
Queue to check out
All of it
Not a BIG negative but rooms could do with a makeover
Bed,mini bar and bar area
Exremly Poor customer services booked by accident on booking.com and they charged me 400 for the mistake. Told me there terms and conditions allowed no cancellations. They still had rooms available for the night I wanted to cancel and had no excuse for charging me. Basically they STOLE 456 pounds from me.
Standard room drab, not good value for money, disappointed with overall experience as I expected more from a Malmaison
Location is good and a number of good local restaurants.
The reservation is misleading and should be clear. We were booked in for bed and breakfast at a cost of £346 for 2 nights. My eventual bill was £371 and after two phone calls to clarify this, breakfast is NOT included. Not impressed and will question a further stay in the future.
Loved the bed, staff were lovely
The pictures advertised we nothing like what the hotel was like, no pool and that was the reason why i booked, very disappointed
Location very good, nice area, easy accessible via car - good car parking.
Breakfast service under any critic, slow and not top quality, not welcoming stuff, issue for 5 people to have family table. Will not stay again.
Ideal location for night away with my husband for his birthday. Mal staff left a card & vouchers for a treat which was at really nice touch (thank you!). Our room was spacious, had a great view with 3 large windows that looked out onto the Water of Leith and the bed was probably the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept on.
Maybe my expectations were too high but I'd never stayed in a Malmaison before and I thought it would be quite different to other hotels & the décor much more opulent than it was. Bathroom was nothing special & the whole place is showing a few signs of wear & tear.
Friendly helpful staff. Room was stylish and well designed. Excellent breakfast.
We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. No complaints!
The bed was really comfy, and the staff very friendly
They sell themselves a little like a a naughty house....
Location and frequency of buses to city centre.
Loved the location.
The bed sand pillows are to hard
Great location, lots going on round about. The hotel bar and restaurant are very good, some good specials to be had from the kitchen. Lots of nice restaurants and bars within walking distance from the hotel. No problems parking which is a god send.... Andy L
Nothing to mention
The bed was comfortable and the room very quiet
The place is dirty and in need of maintenance. The room and bar and restaurant were cold. The staff were very unfriendly and not far off being rude. The bedroom window wouldn't shut properly. The breakfast was extremely mean with toast and especially coffee rationed. Overall the price was extortionate for what was on offer. A stay at the Roxburghe on Charlotte Sq six weeks ago was £50 cheaper and in a different league. Overall impression is of a chain trying too hard to be cool and fashionable but getting it mixed up with mean and unfriendly. We won't be back here and it's put us off Malmaison altogether.
Hotel was nice and clean and room and the room was a good size
Thought I was a little over priced for location and the bed was very uncomfortable I didn't sleep at all. Based on that I will not return.
Location good with on-site free parking. Breakfast good.
Told no champagne flutes and only baby-cham type glasses available for drinking champagne. This might be the latest fashion but definitely no for the bubbles! Need choice for firm an thicker pillow.
