It is near to our son"s flat in Clerkenwell! 1 The foyer is extremely dark / not terribly welcoming and the fake Jack Vettriano painting is a bit much ! 2 Also they got the bill wrong -wanted to charge the full 3 night rate -fortunately I had a copy of the booking

location is excellent. Good quality room and bathroom very expensive price for the room, and an extra £18 each for breakfast is outrageous..

The room was well appointed, staff were polite and breakfast was excellent. Lifts v quick and reliable. The room was at the front of the hotel and there was a great deal of late night noise from a neighbouring bar. The fire alarm went off at 5.30am. There was an apology and free newspaper from the hotel in the morning as it was an error. The shower was, at best, luke warm.

The location of the hotel for London is great. Parking outside is handy. The room was very comfortable. The room service charges were extremely expensive. £9 for a club sandwich + service charge??!!

The hotel is in a quiet leafy square with parking right outside the door, and yet is seconds away from a good selection of bars/ restaurants. There is plenty of places to go within a 10 minute walk,ie st pauls, the millenium bridge barbican centre the city Lack of information about the congestion charges, from the staff or literature ..a problem in most london hotels ,something to rectify before 2012

Good quiet location but easy walking distance down to Thames etc, and Barbican tube and Kings Cross. Staff were pleasant and helpful and breakfasts were excellent. Rooms very comfortable with everything we needed but not cluttered! We would definitely return on our next trip to London.

The immediate position was very pleasant, and the ambience very easy going. It didn't feel like being in the middle of a big city, which we liked. The pub nearby had loud music on a Saturday night, but not for too long. Some noise from passers by in the early hours.

We were looking for somewhere in London for three day city break that has a design, boutique feel, was well located but not in the main Tourist thoroughfares. The Malmaison delivered perfectly here. It is situated at the corner of the green, tree lined Charterhouse Square which has two tube stations (Barbican and Farringdon) which allows easy access to all the main tourist locations within 10 mins tube ride. You can also walk to St Paul Catherdral and the Thames riverside within 10 mins too. The Staff were excellent, very helpful and accomodating and the rooms although small are well designed and look good. The hotel is perfect for a couple who will be experiencing the city most of the time and want somewhere stylist to land back at after day is finished. We really liked the hotel only comment is room did get a very warm quickly so we needed to have the airconditioning on all the time.

We had a wonderful room excellent food efficient staff (except for billing) and were just sad our stay was so short Our friends breakfast bill was added without permission to our room bill (they had a completely separate booking and their rate included breakfast so a separate breakfast charge to someone's else's bill was neither acceptable nor necessary as they had already paid)
