Nice ambiance and interesting building Vastly overpriced for standard of accommodation. Room small, in need of maintenance. (Chipped shower tray, a loose shower head, loose window stays ineffective air conditioning etc)

Design of rooms and lighting were great! Bar downstairs excellent Could find reception straight away. No staff at reception when I arrived but they appeared shortly afterwards. Didn't like the fact I had to pay a £50 deposit just because I was paying with a debit card rather than a credit card. Never had to pay a deposit for a hotel room before.

The interior design was fun, imaginative and cool. Breakfast - not much option for a gluten free diet - the granola said it was hand-made but when we asked if it was gluten free they didn't know as it was not made in-house. Fruit salad was boring and the smoked salmon and eggs were inedible.

the restoration of the building is excellent and a very different hotel to stay in. the cost of £200 per room was rather expensive especially when breakfast is not included.

The friendliness of the staff . The manegement of the hotel is fantastic. They take care of the customers needs. The roomservice is great. There was no flexible cord for the shower head in bathtub or shower. No slippers The toiletries should be better for that amount of money they ask for per night stay

Good location, room styling, staff Disappointed in food. Please don't offer fondant potatoes if you can't cook them. Breakfast box quite cool but bit disappointed with cheap cold fruit and little box of cornflakes, in sure you could be a bit more creative for not more cost. I wasn't asked if we had stayed before and didn't get the sense the staff were trying to make it special, not a complaint but an opportunity. Would also encourage staff to try and get guests excited about venue as it is a really unusual location

For my partner and myself it was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in , we liked the fact that almost all off the prison has been left intacked and a cell has been left as it was just great , next time we go we want to stay in one of there cell rooms , just a fantastic hotel not forgetting the food was great so was the hotel staff , cant wait to go back

Most of the staff were helpful,( others obviously needed guidance and training) as was the breakfast served in the room on Christmas day, but the rest...see "what didn`t you like". I still have No response from the Hotel, despite sending them the attached in January, hence my comments here. I stayed in room 306 in the Houses of Correction from December 23-26th last year. On the 24th I filled-out a comments card and handed it to reception. It is now nearly 2 weeks since then, and I emphasised that I had made these comments at the checking out on the 26 th.. I can only assume that the letter was lost, or that you have no intention to respond to my comments. I intend to write a full description to Bookings.com and the other booking engines that I use for my frequent travels. Your hotel was the 5th hotel in which I stayed in December. I booked your hotel having visited Oxford in July and was intrigued by the venue. I read all the publicity and looked forward to a Christmas break in an unusual setting. I expected your hotel to be different, yet to the standards that you emphasise in your publicity. The room given to me was too small for 2 people and their belongings. My other comments were:- • Wardrobe not big enough for my clothes and certainly not my wife’s. • No drawer space whatsoever; the “shelves” were taken up by tray, kettle, etc. • There was a minibar, but no glasses. • There were no instructions about operating things, including the heating/aircon which was a nightmare. • The wifi, either fixed or wireless, was difficult to connect and extremely slow when found. • There was ONE comfortable chair, but hardly any room to sit in it properly, or even walk past it. • There was no information about laundry or other services in the hotel or locally. • It was difficult to shave in the bathroom (more precisely the sink in the toilet) since there was only a dim light, above and behind. • There were no bath robes. • There was no noise from the extractor fans. My judgement was that they were not working. • There were minimal fittings, hooks and power points. • The windows would not open, nor do the curtains close. Outside lights were burning incessantly. • I expect to have a view of the dustbins in some percentage of hotels.

Reuse of old building, individual design. Décor. Bed was a bit too hard. Lighting in the room was poor. Ok for 'mood' lighting but brighter useful lighting is also necessary.

Unique design features Our room was freezing when we arrived as the heating wouldn't work and, initially, they offered to bring in a radiator. After about an hour of toing and froing we were moved to an upgraded room which did have heating but not a good first impression. Restaurant menu was good but service was slow although the waiter we had was helpful and cheerful - I think he just had too many people to look after

Well appointed rooms, clean and comfortable Quirky humour embodied in the amenities and communications Good food in the restaurant Fantastic location Historical context well preserved Nothing much to complain about. It all worked, it 'did what it said on the tin' etc. Perhaps slightly expensive - but not when compared to London or other international cities
