The location of the hotel was very good as it was in walking distance to the train station and the city centre. We loved the historical aspect of the hotel and we impressed with the renovation of the prison into a hotel. We dined one evening in the hotel restaurant. The lighting was very poor, in fact, we had to use our torch to read the menu. The service was good but the main courses were overpriced for the quantity of food provided. |

Fabulous refurb. In the main very well looked after, but see below for further info On arrival, having booked online inc parking was greeted by a somewhat unhappy concierge who reluctantly honoured the parking agreement. On departure had to wait 30 mins for car, despite arriving at designated car as the valet had lost my car key in another car. Unfortunate ending to an otherwise good stay. This definitely needs addressing |

Very friendly staff, who upgraded us from the cheapest room to a suite on a friday night! Great breakfast, good parking -prebooked but watch out for the bollards at night .Very difficult to find with sat nav- the council wont allow signs and it looks like a pedestrian walkway that you drive up to the castle entrance. It had lots of shoppers and a christmas market there the day we arrived and but the crowds parted as we drove up! |

Very closed to both rail station and bus terminal. So it is easy to travle to/from London. It is also close to the town center, so very convenient for sithseeing and shopping. The staff are also very kind and well trained. I wish there were instruction how to control the room temperature. |

Central position. Quiet. Very comfortable. Interesting architecture. Delay in checking in. Breakfast charged separately. Seemed to be lots of offers but it was not clear how to access them. Dining room etc not well signposted. |

The idea behind the hotel is well executed in that the original cells look great as rooms. The history behind the building comes through but poor lighting inside the building does not do it any justice. The Hotel fails on the following points 1. Our room had no bath and therefore the room is overpriced 2. The bed had the hardest matress we ever encountred 3 .The room and the hotel was too dimly lit 4. The staff were grumpy - on checking out I mentioned the hard mattress to the receptionist - his response was that it was our fault for having too soft a mattress at home and that no one else had ever complained. 5. The car parking charge was outrageous |

Nicely furnished/decorated room. Russian checkin staff were very brusque. There was a fully stocked minibar, but no glasses in the room - bit strange. |

Nothing. We had a terrible experience. We made a reservation for car parking via the Booking.com website only to be told on arrival that we would have had to call the hotel directly to reserve parking. So we had wasted a huge amount of time driving into central Oxford and could not park. The hotel staff were not apologetic and did not see this as their problem. We were in a double room, which I had anticipated would be a cell room, but was not. My recommendation is not to book the hotel on the basis that you think you will stay in a converted prison, but it is likely you will be in just a plain, overpriced room in a modern side wing. The bathroom was awful. The shower tray was cracked and chipped and the water did not run away. A complete waste of money. Avoid! |

The shower was huge and the room was posh. The room I stayed in had a blocked sink the whole time, I told the hotel staff but they wouldn't do anything about it because it was the weekend, they said they had to wait until Monday. |

Atmosphere and decor was excellent. Also the hotel's former use was still very apparent and this greatly added to the impact of the place. It was just stunning! The 'castle' complex was perfect for choice of places to eat, only a stones throw from the hotel. It was easy to walk into the town centre as well. Not much information was given at check-in with regards the history of the place and the main features of interest; tho I appreciate that not everybody would have been interested in learning about this. There was a mention of pre-booking parking for £20,and I mentioned this on the booking form; however the hotel rang me to say there was no parking at all, which was inconvenient. We ended up parking in the local shopping centre, & this was only a few mind walk away. I still felt that although the place was so unique, it was still very pricey. However I am enormously happy to have made the choicevto stay there! |

Centrally located Overrated and overhyped. Parking was a major problem, we thought we had booked a parking space through you, but upon arrival the staff informed us that this did not count and we would have to find our own parking, which in downtown Oxford is a major problem. In addition, we had a lot of luggage, making it more difficult. |

The central location and the surroundings were great. Lots of places to eat close by. Short walk to river and colleges. The design of the hotel is very clever and the breakfast was superb! Very dark in places. The third floor bar is spooky! |

The hotel is very stylish and has a unique atmosphere. It's very close to the city center and the train station which is very convenient. The restaurant has superb food and is reasonably priced. The shower was quite challenging. No matter how hard I tried, the water I got was lukewarm at best. |

Well situated.Intriguing building with a good ambiance.Has the potential to be excellent. Seemed under staffed at reception and so no warm feeling of care ,especially noticeable as this was the only customer engagement point. |

Being in a converted prison it lived up to my expectations perfectly. It is a quality hotel with oudles of character where rooms are very sound proofed! The full English Breakfast was one of the best I have ever eaten and worth every penny. |
