The fact that is use to be a prison and now top class hotel!
Enjoyed the tour of Oxford Castle
The high cost of parking
ambiance and the courtesy and helpfulness of the staff.
We loved the whole stay couldn't fault a thing cell room was fab , loved dinner and the room service breakfast
Central Oxford location Secure valet parking
Poor Wi-Fi quality (too slow) Expensive parking (even if it was good) Check in environment - too noisy
staff , rooms and location all good.
continental breakfast really good. Big Mal breakfast could be better. Eggs nicely cooked but cold. Black pudding barely cooked.Tomatoe would be better cooked not raw.Homemade Granola excellent.
The hotel is absolutely stunning ! and we had a very professional check in and welcome . end of story :-(
Booked dinner and arrived to find the bar area very disorganised and suffering from extremely poorly trained staff .... situation resembled a Bun Fight .

Great location with easy access to the city center. A very interesting building making a great unique hotel which was a pleasure to stay in. I would defiantly recommend
Parking although valet is a bit expensive
Ambience and history
Confusion over final account
We've been upgraded (thanks for that), our cell/room was cozy and clean and gorgeous. Nice welcoming
The fare of the parking is too far expensive (worth a 1/5 of the total rate)
A lovely, comfortable room with excellent bathroom. Bed really comfortable but you need air!
The gact that there was no fresh air in the bedroom or bathroom.
Great location, lovely place to stay, novelty value with it being an ex- prison. Beautifully decorated.
Liked it all
Good facilities, great location, Lots of character, beautifully converted !!
Bed to hard
superb location fantastic atmosphere wonderfull decoration
beds were really hard, as if you slept on wood, lighting in the room is poor
Unusual jail cell room Staff helpfulness
Staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel is very well placed for exploring the city. Room was comfortable. The food in the restaurant was good.
It was expensive but then it was a birthday treat for my partner. We ate in the restaurant the first night but, although the staff were very pleasant, service was a little on the slow side. Also not much on the menu for vegetarians.
Nice, cool facilities
Poor staff and service, with this price level you could expect much more
Quirky and very interesting building i.e. ex-prison. Large and spacious, comfortable room and well appointed. Staff service and help superb. Centrally located and situated within the centre of Oxford with shops, restaurants and colleges on your doorstep. Breakfast excellent choice and quality.
Route into to Oxford centre an absolute nightmare with one-way and prohibitive vehicle routes - not hotel's fault! Room warm and stuffy and no opening windows and H&V system either not working correctly or poor? Staff did provide fan. Understand hotel has restraints with listed building etc.
Location was good, excellent ambience and friendly staff, we had a cell room which was just amazing being on the landing with a cell door and rooms were well equipped, really liked the generous size of toiletries, a welcome change!! Restaurant was very good, and cocktails were great, nice to go somewhere where staff knew exactly what went into each cocktail professionally!
Being a lady I needed a light above a mirror, as the room was darkly lit, room was quite hot, duvets too thick for us (just a personal thing)! Parking was way too expensive!!
The originality of the hotel and it's history. Our upgraded room was amazing with welcome card and cake!
Nothing, however my wife was a little uneasy about sleeping due to the history of the place!
Extremely comfortable beds. Extremely quiet rooms. Excellent 1855 restaurant few metres away from main entrance.
The room had a low ceiling. And the AC was not working.
I was upgraded to a suite , which was a nice surprise.
the light levels in the room were really low and with all the dark wood it felt a tiny bit gloomy.
This a converted former prison set within a medieval castle in the heart of Oxford true character set in its every stone. The converted cells now form spacious and luxurious rooms ensuring a comfortable stay and untroubled night's sleep. PS the restaurant is quite good as well.
I am not into mixology but it might appeal to some. You will enjoy this hotel more if you can share the experience with another person or other persons.
