Staff, location, breakfast, decor
We were checked into a room that was a lower specification than the one we had booked. Not sure if this was because it was overbooked. We were then moved twice. This was the only real negative of our stay.
Decor, breakfast and bar area was super. Bedroom great
Being with a lively group, the hotel was a little sedate
Everything, have been before food is excellent
couldn't fault anything
We loved our King room, we think it was one of the nicest rooms we have stayed in. As it in old mill, the hotel has a lovely feel to it, relaxing, homely somehow.
Breakfast was good buffet style.
Ceilings low. If you were 1.8 metres then you would be hitting your head on the ceiling. support columns in the middle of the room msant if it was dark then you could walk into them and hurt yourself. location well away from the Manchester centre
Lovely hotel in a great location. It was a flying visit so didn't have time to make use of everything but I would definitely use this hotel again.
Walls a bit thin - could hear neighbours next door and above, even the hair-dryer. And why is there always a tray full of flavoured stuff but only 2 English breakfast tea bags!? 4 please.
towels in room soiled.
Good location. Lovely bedroom in terms of design with a couple of exceptions!
The ceiling height. While the low ceiling and beams in the bedroom were manageable and added to the character if the room the bathroom meant it was very uncomfortable for my fiancé to take a shower. At just over 6 foot he couldn't stand up straight in the shower!!!! That is a really badly thought out design and would mean we wouldn't stay at the hotel again. The cleanliness of the bathroom wasn't great wait her (room 302). The wardrobe isn't practical with the hangers you provide either! Free WIFI didn't work!
Free parking area was all reserved. Bathroom not executive standard as per the room. Ceiling low, could not stand in bath and shower head below shoulder height. Poor tea making facilities in room Ironing board but no iron Room service vey late, expensive and poor quality of food TV channels limited Room was good but not executive
Concierge service for parking cars was excellent. Staff in breakfast were attentive and helpful.
Suite should have had 2 TV's only had one and a hole in the wall.. Room lighting very dark. Out all day from 9am and room not serviced when we returned at 5pm. Booking not accurate at reception. Bar area on night we wanted to use for eating was in a very untidy state with glasses everywhere and it was NOT busy
The rooms were really lovely .. Ceilings and all
The bathrooms were a bit cold and bare .. But adequate .. Needed some warmth though .. Both hearing wise I thibk and decor!
Polish, Romanian, etc, staff excellent, smiling, helpful
English staff opposite. Not a good example
Hotel lovely decor in fairly quiet location but still within walking distance of city centre. Staff friendly & onsite parking a plus. Rooms clean & comfy. This was our first stay in Manchester City centre & xmas markets are great & did not realise how many brilliant shops in easy walking distance. Will be back next year!
Bad start trying to check (4.40pm) in as hotel computer check in down, we did not mind waiting, but it got very stressful as people arriving & hoping to freshen up & eat etc, before concerts at 7pm. We gave up after half an hour & moved to the bar. Felt sorry for the receptionist who was left on her own to deal with angry guests & felt management should have been there to explain to the growing line of guests waiting to check in. Service in restaurant/bar slow at times. Room prices a little above average in cost, made worst by the fact Breakfast not included (£16.95) parking @ £16 a day. Supposed to be a mini bar in every room, but neither our friends or us could find it in our rooms? Need to pre book restaurants in city at this time of year.
Lovely hotel, would not hesitate in rebooking a weekend break there again.
Hotel is excellent, stayed here many times, for it is the only place to stay in Manchester!
The price we paid booking through this website, it is much cheaper booking direct.
The location is perfect as its only a short distance from shops, bars and restaurants.
I've stayed here a few times over many years and now feel some areas a looking a little tired.
Gorgeous hotel. Staff very friendly. Room clean and spacious. Bar and restaurant were excellent. Great location, 20 mins (slow) walk to the MEN Arena.
Minor gripe, parking was £16 for the night. Plenty of cheaper NCP's around but after a 6 hour drive we just parked up and went to the bar!
Wonderful characterful building a great setting
The staff at the hotel were excellent and very helpful and friendly. the hotel is ideally situated and short walk from the city centre and also near to the opera house.
the road leading up to the hotel was closed off and it made it very difficult in the dark when we arrived to find the entrance to the hotel.
Low wooden ceilings, lovely bed with soft pillows. Superb breakfast in bed and professional staff
The location, staff and general facilities were excellent. The room was particularly great with a wonderful comfy bed and all required amenities.
Paying for Wi-Fi is not justified. Most high street establishments (coffee shops etc.) provide free access
Not getting the newspaper we ordered.
Would have preferred the free Wifi to include your room, not just reception and bar areas
Contacted the hotel by phone prior to arrival and found them quite rude and unwilling to help but this could be down to both members of staff having a very poor grasp of English. Not good enough in a 4* hotel!!!
