Standing in its own grounds of four acres, the former Rectory is a charming family run country hotel. Traditional hospitality, personal service and individual touches will ensure that guests are relaxed and comfortable. The Amber Lodge is under new management and we look forward to welcoming you. The Amber Lodge Hotel is located on the edge of the Broadlands Village of Acle, mid-way between the fine, historic city of Norwich and the tourist attractions of Great Yarmouth. The Amber Lodge Hotel is ideally suited for sightseeing. Just 10 miles from the fine city of Norwich, with its magnificent 12th Century cathedral, splendid castle and picturesque cobbled streets. Also nearby are several National Trust properties including Felbrigg Hall and Blickling, once the home of Ann Boleyn. Sandringham is a short drive away. Alternatively, you could blow away the cobwebs with a boat trip or fresh water fishing on the famous Norfolk Broads, follow a nature trail or explore the unspoiled Norfolk coastline. Hotel Rooms: 10 We're sorry, but it is currently not possible to make reservations for this hotel.

Efficient but relaxed service, lovely building with cosy and comfy bar, friendly staff, very useful location - central to parts of Norfolk we needed to access, good sized, airy bedroom, very clean. We would definitely choose Amber Lodge again for a short break like this. Just a few touches would have made good into excellent - small things like a chair in the bedroom, somewhere to put shower gel etc. whilst in the shower, maybe a light on each side of the bed rather than just one. Maybe some fruit and/or yoghurt could have been on offer at breakfast. These are observations rather than grumbles.

Very close to where we moor our boat at Martham. Walking distance to some good restaurants. Lovely comfortable room with wi fi. The dining room where we took breakfast had a nice comfortable feel to it too. Nice grounds but we didn't have time to make use of them The bathroom didn't match up to the lovely bedroom. The bath had a crack in it, the jacuzzi bit didn't work and the overall state appeared worn and tired. I would have expected a much plusher bathroom to go with the bedroom

We received a warm welcome and had a very comfortable stay. The meals were home made and first class. We have no complaints and will stay again when next in the area.

We were made extremely welcome when we arrived. We were fortunate to have been upgraded to a superior room with four-poster bed at no extra cost. Always felt that nothing was too much trouble.

Leaving There are too many to list but to sum it up, it was unorganised, very low budget and looked like the owners were running the hotel into 'the ground'

The staff were friendly and very helpful. The whole experience was very enjoyable. The breakfast was plentiful and cooked to perfection. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. There were only three pillows in the room, could have used another pillow to have two each.

Both the bedroom and bathroom were spacious and clean. The four poster bed was comfortable. Waiter needs to be more welcoming and advise guests of the procedure for breakfast when entering the restaurant as the instructions in the room contradict what actually happened during our stay. The food in the buffet wasn't very hot and should be checked by staff, during our stay there was a problem with the scramble eggs which should have been picked up by the waiter and not by the guests.

Lovely staff, so laid back atmosphere. My daughter loved flying all the different raptors and learnt alot. What other hotel can boast a free, nearly 2 hour, raptor demonstration that a 6 year old can fly all kinds for free???? Also the staff were extremely helpful. The chambermaid was especially nice and friendly. The whole family came back relaxed with very special memories of the Amber lodge. The bar was not open !!!!

Very quiet and peaceful; the cooked breakfast & breakfast options were good. Very quiet and peaceful. Lovely location if you are looking for a quiet country side retreat. Reception was not manned - we arrived at 18.00 - keys were left on reception. There was no one to answer any queries. We did not see the owners at all during our four day stay. The entrance area was quite musty smelling; rooms were adequate but not thoroughly clean (spiders web across window, dust/mildew around windows) plug socket in room not working. Room was very dark, even with lights on. Bathroom taps quite grubby, toilet seat did not fit properly. Whole decor very dated and 'tired'.
