The staff are very good, the food is good and the beds are comfortable. Rooms are spacious. Come here if you would like a base for the local attractions in Somerset. This hotel is well worn in a charming way, it would suit people who like that rustic, old feel. If you have walking difficulty you should ask for low ground rooms.

I was only there for 2 nights, as visiting friends, but hotel conveniently situated for town centre and shopping. Breakfast was excellent. My only drawback was no view from the window - I was in Room 4. I can't say as I found anything I really didn't like.

easy to get to town centre and easy to find staff really slow and make excuses when things go wrong - and quite a lot goes wrong.

We stay fairly often & enjoy our stay. The staff are friendly & helpful. We like the ambience. As I had twisted my knee, the step up to the bathroom was rather difficult, and the toilet seemed rather low. Normally no problem though.

We stayed over night (b&b) after a family wedding held in the hotel. The way the rooms were set up for the ceremony and the wedding breakfast (dinner) and the evening disco was excellent. All the food was very nice too. Well done to all at the Manor Hotel.

The hotel has a quirky charm. The beds were very comfortable and the staff were great. We had to leave before breakfast and so they put on a continental breakfast for us. It is in a great location and I would definately stay there again.

Good location close to centre. Good quality and range of bar meals. On the second morning of two my shower was cold even after leaving the water running for 10 minutes or more.

The superb period building, ideally located close to the town centre; a very spacious and comfortable double room; friendly, helpful and professional staff; nice food, very good value for money. The bath water was visibly contaminated. We pointed this out to a staff member who immediately arranged for the problem to be looked at. Afterwards, it was improved but not entirely fixed. This wasn't a huge problem for us, but just thought I'd mention it, seeing as you asked. The water pressure was a little low for a decent shower. Understandably, this can't be helped if you're just relying on gravity to shift the hot water, and water pumps or power-shower systems would be expensive to install. This wasn't a major issue and in no way would put me off using this hotel again.

The staff were very helpful and the food was good. My single room was a bit small and felt a bit like a cell because it had a small high window.

Good decor. Just opened. Room did not have a wast paper bin. We had one good and one very poor meal on the night we arrived. The poor meal was tastless, had very soft chips and was poorly presented. So much so we did not dine in after that. The other meal was well presented and very good. Breakfast basics were basic and could do with a better range. Cooked breakfasts fine. The toast was made with too thick bread.

All of the staff were very pleasant and courteous. From the website, the photographs give the impression that the Manor House is located in the country, hence the reason I booked the room. However, the reality is different. It is in a built up area, next to a main road. My room looked in need of refurbishment and the shower did not owrk properly.

Very helpful and friendly staff and food very good Room was very dated by todays standards. Windows could not be opened for ventilation on the ground floor and it would have been better if windows had net curtains allowing us to open the main curtains during daylight hours.

“The setting in charming Montacute was exactly what we were looking for. The inn has a sense of history and at the same time concern for contemporary traveler's needs. Our dinner was excellent and the traditional English Breakfast was updated just enough. I also enjoyed exploring the churchyard next door and hiking St Michael's Hill.” Nancy, Freeland |
