i stayed at the Manor in October last year as we was on our way to Scotland for the weekend and wanted somewhere to stay on our journey, so we looked at the Manor and it looked really nice so we booked to stay, as been valentine weekend we came up to see my partner's parents, and as we have stayed before thought it would be nice to stay again and we did really nice weekend would really come back to the manor nice place and nice people.
The spa was nice and relaxing staff where nice and friendley Sunday lunch was lovley.
The only thing I dud not like about hotel is when I booked was for a romantic break for me and my partner to have a kid free night and when we got to peer room it was 2 single beds pushed together rather then a double wich was advitised when booking it felt lyk we where sleeping in separate beds nothing romantic about that.
Lovely setting and good Pool area, good breakfast also
The old features of the building made it an interesting place to explore The evening meal was good
Generally we enjoyed our stay but it was spoilt due to hardly got any sleep due to a very noisy wedding party which didn't stop until 4am
Had to try to find staff no one was available at reception
Nice room, decor, breakfast and big parking area.
Bad controls in shower, either too hot or too cold. Quite noisy, could hear too many loud footsteps and other guests.
Hairs in the bath, cracked window, tiles coming off wall, dust, someone walking in when we were in bed, no free WiFi in the room, staff were not friendly and out of date soap that was used.
Lovely food, lovely room, nice relaxing spa...
Food over priced,my food was good except for veg,a few courgettes,my sister in law had belly pork-pure fat, although the breakfast was good.
The building is beautiful - quirky and interesting. The room was spotless and the food was great in the evening. The pool and spa were a welcome bonus and the price was good
We complained at reception that our bed was so noisy we couldn't sleep. Every time we turned over the bed squeaked or groaned. We don't normally complain and have left several weeks before reviewing the hotel for the manager to contact us as she was not available at the time. However we have heard nothing. Given that the whole point of bed and breakfast is that you get a bed we are not happy with the lack of contact. Even an email to apologise would have been nice. Having read other reviews it appears that other people have complained about the same thing. I wonder if they had the same room? I had to go straight to bed when we got home because I had had no sleep!!
We liked the friendliness and at home feel. I loved the free use of pool and sauna.
The room needed a good hoover
breakfast was very good, plenty of choice . good sized room well furnished, staff very helpful. plenty of car parking spaces
stairs were to steep
Loved the character and the original features. Room was warm and comfortable and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Oh, and the food was fabulous. (Had evening meal and breakfast).
Pool and spa shut for refurbishment
Great room, price unbelievable! Everything was excellent. Lovely lounges to relax in at night or in the morning. nice atmosphere with fire and music. Good location, quiet but near all the shops
Wifi is only in lounge, not in room, but it definitely gets people out the rooms!
Really good experience at a historic building, really sympathetically updated to provide modern facilities, only downside was the wet side leisure facilities being upgraded, but it's great to see the continuing investment
No Wi-Fi code in the room
Difficult to alter heating in room. It was a bit chilly
Made to feel very welcome, very comfy bed and great bathroom ! shower and bath !
No wifi in the bedroom only in communal area.
Our 1st spa experience was lovley ,the girls who gave my husband and myself our treatments were lovely and very professional, when we explained that we had forgotten our swimwear they told us the nearest shops to buy them which we got In the sale (bonus) and we Loved our chilled swim and the whole experience. The rest of the staff we're very professional aswell. Our meal which came as part of our package was beautiful and my husband is still raving about the crispy chicken. (Mmmmm)
Although are spa experience was lovley, things changed in both bar's, although the 1st experience didnt involve us we watches a lady wait 35 minutes for her drinks order after returning twice to ask were they were and also a gentleman not wanting to ring the bell for service because he knew he would wait a while for an answer !!! Also the stable bar had a very helpful barman when he was there ! As he kept going to the main hotel for different reasons and was kept there for a good while doin jobs leaving the bar unattended , at one point leaving 5 couples Without drinks and alone in an unattended bar !!!for at least 15 minutes, Really unbelievable in this day and age
historical, warm and welcoming, open fires(gas) in communal rooms, friendly staff, very quite in rooms even when very full, good accommodation for a relaxing night, would have liked to stay longer to enjoy the spa
Bathroom was nice, bed was comfy
Bring bottled water! Tap water tastes funny and made us ill. Desperately needs floorboard renovation and windows, did not sleep a wink the second night due to the noise of the wind and trees being loud bashing on the windows, sounded like children were running around outside our door and knocking on it all night it was so bad, heard every movement the people above us made, very loudly! Out dated decor and carpet, floors just looked dirty. Windows were mouldy. Loose bathroom tiles. Paid for a deluxe room that was not deluxe! Bed frame was shabby.
The fish on the evening meal was gorgeous the facilities were closed hence the low mark for them
WiFi is only in selected places linked up on one table moved 3 feet and then lost signal
My room was massive and even had its own dining room! The hotel itself was almost like a museum, with its wealth of interesting features.
The floorboards in my room were unbelievably squeaky and the free wifi didn't seem to work.
Great leisure facilities, restaurant food is very good! The staff are great, very accommodating! Gorgeous room, I would recommend room 6!
Lovely old hotel, loved the historic features. Food was really nice and spa and pool area was great. Staff really helpfull and friendly.
A bit cold and draughty throughout. Could do with a bit more attention to cleaning in the bathrooms, a bit mouldy in the corners on the shower.
everything, especially the reduced price!!
no dislikes at all.
