the fassade of the castle. It did afterall convince my 8 year old that we are in a real castle (which is so totally not the case) No value for money. Compared to other hotels on the same trip we took, rooms were too expensive to what you got. the breakfast also needs improvement. worst is that this hotel promotes a castle stay - which it totally is not. around the hotel all is build up and you feel like you are on the edge of a business district. staff is less than attentive and the wine and dinner are again really expensive for the value that is received. Another guest complained calmly the next morning at the reception and the owner got even in an argument with him. Once the guest left, a : " don't come back" was uttered - in front of other guests. Not good.

Very friendly and helpful staff Double bed was 2 single mattresses put together which had a habit of working away from each other, a mattress topper or a proper double mattress would solve this problem

Location good as we used it asbreak travelling North. Majority of staff young and inexperienced.Breakfast staff awful, we were embarrassed how she dealt with French guests. Selection of cheese was actually just small wrapped cheddar portions, they had run out of yogurt, croissants and pastries - all before 9am. In bar the previous night, owner only spoke with Americans staying.

Quiet location. Spacious room. Bit tired around the edges! Arrived late Sunday afternoon to sound of r1 in reception area. Bathroom in our room in need of good clean. No vegetarian food offered on main menu. One choice was on the specials board but it had gone by the time we went down stairs. We asked for extra toast one morning~ it never arrived & the "waitress" never even acknowledged that she'd forgotten it.

Ambience - not really a 'true' castle but still a nice feel about it. Pleasant grounds and helpful staff.

Building attractive from outside. A number of the descriptions of the hotel on the site did not appear - no sherry or 'do not disturb' stuffed dog, a number of breakfast items not in stock. Hotel fine for a (slightly tired) 3 star, fairly good value option, but certainly not a good 'castle treat'.

The building is impressive, and fairly well maintained. The staff was nice, and helpful. The location is fine, nice and quiet, and not far from the town center. Perhaps in need of a little facelift inside, to keep up with the outer appearance.

The front desk person was the same for each day of our stay and she was very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. We were upgraded to the Tower Suite, a very luxury suite. The wait staff in the restaurant were very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was included with meal and excellent. Dinner was excellent quality and value.

Breakfast was very good and location was useful as a stopping point traveling north. Staff were fine and the price was reasonable overall. Castle is located in the middle of village - and is surrounded by modern houses which do not help the overall ambience of the hotel. Rooms have fairly tired decoration and ours did not seem very clean - not helped by the fact that there was carpet in the bathroom which is almost impossible to keep clean

Lovely ambience, very friendly manager, efficient staff. I travelled independently, although was meeting a group of friends there who had made a group booking; I was the only one to have booked through booking.com and not on a dinner, b&b rate. There was a noticeable difference in the standard of rooms - I was definitely in the cheap seats compared to the others. That said, the room was very nice, although a bit dark, being on the shady side of the ground floor of the extension. And the bathroom definitely needs upgrading; the jacuzzi bath didn't jacuzzi, the decor in the bathroom was dated, the grouting needing refreshed and there wasn't a toilet roll holder. If I hadn't seen the main house rooms, though, it probably wouldn't have occurred to me that mine was one of the cheaper ones.
