Staff were very friendly Food was excellent Very quiet and peaceful Located on beautiful grounds
Good views from the house at the front and nice setting. Would have been nice to have had better view from our room. Food may have been good but prospect of eating in large empty restaurant not enticing and we were not told about the separate pub which we would probably have tried rather than going out for dinner.
Scruffy bedroom with shabby tired furniture and no view carved out of a larger room at the back of the house. Cold bleak shower room with cheap bathroom suite. No bath and no heating in it. Forlorn entrance and reception and the need to go outside to access breakfast room. As we were only guests on quiet Saturday in October we were surprised owners didn't try to impress with better room. Limited breakfast menu although full welsh breakfast very tasty.
Friendly staff good food, peaceful surroundings, beatiful views, good location to travel to other places of interest.
Friendly staff Food Great view
The location is fantastic and it is a great venue. The hosts were pleasant and we spent over an hour at the bar talking to them about the history and plans for the mansion. I had seen posts on Booking.com complaining about the condition of the hotel but flaking paint etc add to the character of the hotel and there are plans for renovations in the future. The views of the river make it a relaxing venue and we enjoyed having a drink whilst taking in the views. There is a restaurant at the hotel which provides a great dinner and breakfast. Look past the condition of the paint on the walls etc and enjoy what the mansion house has to offer, great venue with plenty of private on site parking
The location was stunning. The food was excellent. The staff were helpful, friendly, and unobtrusive. A lovely relaxed atmosphere.
The premises - an attractive Georgian/Victorian building looked after well. Quality of furnishings and friendliness of everyone we had contact with.
Nothing of any significance.
Simplicity of the room, stunning view and local produce used in a delicious dinner (& breakfast). Friendly owners and staff happy to chat and talk through their plans for the hotel.
Needed a residence lounge area - But owners know this and are planning one soon.
Friendly staff Location
No one around to check out in the morning
EVERYTHING-THE STAFF-THE LOCATION- WILL BE GOING BACK AND THIS IS MY 2ND VISIT
The position is amazing Very good food at the restaurant
The grounds The house has great potential I have been told it is due to be renovated later this year. The evening meal and breakfast were excellent.
The house is run down. The rooms need updated.
Location and views all round Hotel.
The welcone The position The view The service The food
Size of bed room
duvets were quite thick so we were a little warm!
Lovely old mansion house with nice views undergoing restoration. Nice luxurious touches. Comfy bed. Good food
Breakfast only served between 9-10am I am not an early riser would have liked it a little earlier
Fantastic location, with great staff who were very friendly. Perfect for a seaside holiday with small kids, it would be a great place for anyone.
Although it's in a really beautiful location, with nice walks and close to the sea and main national routes, you still need to have a car to get there and to get around when your there!
We had such a lovely and personal welcome even though they were very busy. We were put at ease immediately. Breakfast was lovely too!
Lovely location, lovely views, beautiful garden, and tasty breakfast.
Would benefit from a lounge area for guests.
location evening meal variety and preparation friendly relaxed atmosphere
some more variety at breakfast needed a good deal of updating and general tlc needed, without losing the character of the place. Evening meal prices were rather high even for the good standard we stayed in 'attic' room which was cramped but didnt see others
The Manager was excellent.
Breakfast is timed at 09:00 to 10:00. This is far to late for business travellers. A breakfast tray can be arranged but it is so basic (choice of cereal and milk with orange juice): no warm drink. The relationship between the restaurant and the hotel is not clear - would it be too dificult to arrnage an earlier hot breakfast with them. Consequently - no point in using this hotel for regular business travel.
Location pretty good in nice grounds. Main hotel very nice. Staff great and very helpful. High standard of cleanliness everywhere. Breakfast was traditional English (Welsh) and was really nice - not too fatty, well cooked and very tasty. Room was relatively quiet except for a hum from below (we were on the top 'attic' floor) which you soon forgot about and wasn't unpleasant anyway
My main gripe is the room we were given. Paid for a superior room, but it was pretty damn small. It was in the converted attic and on one side of the bed you had to crouch below the sloping ceiling and concentrate on not banging your head on the beams when getting in or out. Smallish window. The bathroom was also tiny - I've been in Travel motels, like the F1's in France and even theirs were roomier. So, for a 'Superior Room' I was unimpressed - I hate to think what the 'Inferior' rooms are like. If I'd been staying more than one night I would have asked to be moved to another. The only other thing was that the dining room only appeared to be accessible by going outside the hotel, taking a wee 20 yard walk and re-entering. Not a problem for us, but worth mentioning - it was dry while we were there, but if it was chucking it down it could be inconvenient.
Not enough choice of products at breakfast. eg only orange juice served, an uninspiring selection of cereal. Why no Laver Bread? Dusty, unloved look of the hotel with lots of paint chips on woodwork which made it look dirty. A toilet should always have a sink in it for hand washing otherwise germs are getting spread into the bedroom and possibly further afield by having to open the door from said toilet into the room. Toilet/shower room is not suitable for larger persons due to the very constricted space!
Breakfast was good and dinner was very good. We would have liked there to be a lounge area to sit and enjoy the view
The outlook from the room was obscured by the fire escape and it was very basic
The views from the hotel and rooms are amazing, the hotel is going to being refurbished according to the new owner and we would be happy to return in years to come to see how the hotel has been refurbished. The breakfast and meals in the restaurant were very good and good value for money.
The guttering, the flashing and the flat roof all need replaced as a result there is water ingression into walls and ceilings
