The staff were most welcoming and accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. There is a good choice of dining and we were able to relax with informal dining in the bar which was very good quality and great value. beautiful interior preservation with stylish baronial yet modern fittings and furnishings gave a pleasant luxury Scottish feel. I am recommending this venue and facility to friends, family and colleagues.

Our room was beautiful with stunning views and a big fireplace. When we returned from dinner our bed had been turned down, curtains drawn and soft music playing in our room. My daughter was sleeping in a sofa bed (very large) and her bed had been made up and her teddy tucked in. These are the little touches that make all the difference. Excellent stay.

My sister and I booked Mar Hall last minute, never stayed before and we got a great last minute deal that didnt reflect in the service. All the staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. Our room was great very spacious and clean. The breakfast was buffet style with no complaints. I would definately stay there again.

the staff were very professional, attentive and courteous the building and furnishings were lovely The hotel room was spacious and had everything we needed the breakfast selection was excellent the staff in the spa were really nice lovely views across to the river clyde the ceiling in our room had cobwebs the TV was difficult to use when walking round the grounds, the back of the hotel was a bit messy. there was dog poo on the grass round the corner from the entrance the coverings over the chairs in the Cristal restaurant made it look cheap

Unfortunately pre boked afternoon tea and dinner were not on system. Dinner could not be served at preferred time however we were accommodated for both afternoon tea and dinner. Cointreau was requested following dinner - an orange liqueur was served with no explanation or offered as alternative. Morning paper was requested however not provided.

Excellent service, food and accommodation. We have twins (under 2), and staff couldn't do more to make us comfortable. We like a ground floor room which is spacious enough for 2 cots. The leisure suite is great and the restaurant food is first class. We'll be back. They often get the bill wrong. A small point and doesn't put us off.

Excellent views over River Clyde and golf course. We were really looking forward to visiting this hotel. Unfortunately, we felt a little let down. Our beautiful non-smoking room smelled of stale cigarette fumes and there was evidence of smoking on the window ledge. In saying that, the room was of a good standard. We felt that the dining room could have been better managed. The waiters were friendly, but the head waiter was dour and looked like he didn't want to be there. A smile would have helped! We also felt a bit conned. I chose lamb and asked the head waiter what it was served with and he advised me that it came with nothing. I ordered a side dish only to find it served with potatoes when it arrived. Whe they are charging £4 for individual side dishes, it can make it an expensive stay. The leisure facilities were good, but some of the gym equipment was starting to look like it was in need of refurbishment.

We spent Christmas, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day at Mar Hall and there was a good balance between being 'festive' and very relaxing. The staff were excellent, especially the new Operations Manager.

Odd configuration of room meant that the only place you could watch television was when in bed - which rather made the comfy chairs surplus to requirements.

This hotel was really beautiful, everything from the drive into the estate to the great hall was breathtakingly beautiful. I would recommend the Mar Hotel without hesitation. We went with a 3 year old and a 1 year old and initially I was worried that it would be a little too stuffy for children but the staff were lovely. My 3 year old son even got a specially made hot chocolate to have with breakfast from the French manager! Our room was big enough to accommodate a camp bed and a travel cot with plenty of room spare. The hotel is quite pricey but you get what you pay for.

Luxury Hotel but with 'down to earth' and 'friendly' appeal. Intimate but luxurious. They had a pianist there while we were there. Quiet in the evenings even at the bar.
