Marchwood Guest House is very comfortable and warm. It was snowing while I was there but it was very cosy inside. The hosts were charming and breakfast was very nice.
As the weather was very poor and the drive is fairly steep, I was afraid to drive out to find an evening meal for fear of not being able to return in the snow. There is nowhere to eat within walking distance though possibly you could do that in the summer as the village is only a mile or so away.
The owners were excellent and very friendly and I loved their dog!
The breakfast, the very friendly owners and their dog.
a couple of miles from the motorway you are in a different world. Lovely big house in extensive grounds. large warm rooms with super king comfy bed. nothing too much trouble, friendly hosts, good cooed breakfast
We didn't realise there was no bar or other meals available other than breakfast or we wouldn't of booked this hotel. It's not what you would expect after a long drive to the property?!
Great, personal welcome from Sally, great house - very quiet, super location, very friendly service, look forward to returning.
Remote quiet country location but still close enough to main trunk roads. Nice big rooms. Wonderful views across the valley. Good breakfast.
Only one, very minor complaint. At times the young dog was a minor nuisance, but most of the time he was fine.
Lovely comfy spacious warm room. Tasty breakfast.
The warm welcome we received by our hostess coming into the car park to welcome us.
The only thing I did not like was the fact we could not stay longer!
The welcome and comfort of the rooms, wanted to stay longer! Would really recommend this place, breakfast was delicious.
The fact we had to leave after only one night!
Views The hosts The dog the breakfast The room
We had a very warm welcome on arrival from a lovely family. The house was well situated with wonderful views, The bed was huge and very comfortable with spotless linen. Breakfasts were unbeatable, served in another room with a view, Better is impossible for the price charged. Terry and Hilary Eccleston

Owner attentiveness and thoughtful approach - picnic breakfast when we had an early start and bottles of water each day. Very friendly and relaxing environment. Perfectly cooked breakfast.
Wonderful hospitality, nothing too much trouble, lovely relaxing breakfast, large tasteful rooms, peace and quiet, is a true gem hidden in the countryside. Highly recommended, cannot praise enough. Thank you for a lovely stay.
A delightful B&B, tucked away in the beautiful rolling hills outside of Beattock, Marchbankwood House is easily accessible from the main road yet still peaceful and secluded. Our host were friendly and accommodating. Even the dog greeted us warmly and entertained us with a game of "fetch". We really enjoyed our one night stay at this B&B. Room was extremely comfortable, spacious and clean, en-suite facilities were also good. We stayed in a lovely large room at the top of the stairs, bed was very comfortable and free WiFi was available. Breakfast was absolutely delicious - it was cooked to perfection and there was a varied selection for all tastes We would recommend to anyone looking to explore the area.
