The pool, suana and steam room were what we enjoyed the most at the hotel. The bar is big but not enough tables and seats, it was always very busy. The restraurant was lovely, food was very good and reasonably priced. The pillows - they were not feather or very plump!

Lovely setting - just a pity they have building work going on at the front of the hotel and scaffolding blocks some of the lovely view. Very relaxing and comfortable with grat leisure facilities Scaffolding blocking the lovely view due to bulding works [this is not a complaint just a comment]. Workmen starting work at 8.20 in the morning, Staff could have explained about the building work on checking in and given the times they started.

Nothing at all stood out. The hotel was quite tired looking and there was a lot of external building work going on which took away from the trip. We were on an anniversary break and after returning from a meal at a nearby restaurant we went to the Arran Lounge for coffee and a liqueur. The coffee machine was switched off (at 10.30) and they did not have Drambuie or Baileys - pretty poor for a 4* hotel.

Staff were very helpful, even in the atrocious weather conditions, their service was excellent. We were down for a 75th birthday party being held locally, enjoyed our stay.

Liked the location - overlooking the golf course and the sea with views across to Arran. The standard of food in the restaurant was excellent and very well presented. Room was a bit small and we were down in what seemed the basement area looking out on to the back of some conference facilities - but the toilets or kitchen area! However we had all the facilities you would expect and a very comfortable bed. Felt that for the size of the hotel there could and should have been more than one bar or lounge for residents to relax in.

The charge of 6.50 /hr for internet access is rediculous. It's the highest rate I have ever paid. And considering that these days most hotels provide free internet (remember it's now 2012) it's a bit insulting. Purley on these grounds I will never return, and never recommend this hotel. In fact I will activley warn others to go elsewhere.

Extremely welcoming on many levels, especially the staff. The spa facilities were excellent and it was never overly busy. I didn't go for breakfast as it was £14, which I think is slightly steep.

Its location was reasonably convenient, there was car parking available, and the all-day snack facilities were useful. There was a distinct lack of rapport with quite a number of the staff (exceptions being the Concierge, Walter and one of the waitresses in the restaurant, Emma). There was no sign of senior management on-site. We complained to Reception that the extractor fan in the bathroom (Rm 29) was not working, where the one in Rm 27 never shut off. Also the taps over the washbasin in Rm 29 were loose, and a number of floor tiles were cracked in both of the bathrooms. On two days the tea and sugar supplies were not replenished (Rm 29), and the bottled water was not replenished in Rm 27. There was no safe in Rm 29 - we had to rely on our friends in Rm 27.

Nice hotel with good facilities. The rooms are modern and clean. Food was also very good. The majority of the staff are young and seem quite uncaring - I got the impression that they were "going through the motions".

At check in were were offered to upgrade our Standard Double Room to a Deluxe Room for only 20 pounds and we were so glad that we did. We had fabulous views of the golf course and the sea. The proximity to the golf course couldn't have been better. There was no provision for a continental breakfast option and everyone is charged for the full breakfast. I had coffee and was charged 14.95 pounds and my husband had fruit, a pastry and tea and was charged 14.95 pounds. Service in the bar area for lunch left a lot to be desired. We ordered a soup and a sandwich and had to wait more than a half hour before being served.
