The staff were helpful and understanding. E.g. When I asked if I could change rooms due to disappointment with the first room they were fine. Very poor standard of decor in the rooms. Very dated furnishings. Poor standard of fixtures & fittings e.g. Bathroom. Strong smell of cooking oil throughout the hotel so much so our cloths smelt of oil the day after we left and we didn't even go in to the resteraunt. Better hotels in the area for same price including breakfast too e.g. Imperial, Caister old hall, pier hotel, cliff hotel - all much better.

On arrival we were offered a room upgrade. This allowed us a sea view which was much appreciated. Breakfast was excellent and served eight till eleven which allowed us to have a lie-in. Nice bar and terrace for evening drinks. This is clearly an old building with its nooks and crannies but has been renovated to a high standard and desrves its four star status. Lots of car parking and I managed to get my car at the back of the car park underneath the side window of our room. Car parkung is allowed for full days on arrival and departure allowing for plenty of time in the town after check-out.

Good location for seafront. Staff friendly and helpful. Room clean and reasonably well equipped. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the corridors have a slight smell of fried food but this doesn't permiate into the bedrooms. One the night we were there, the bar/club opposite had a karioke night and it was pretty loud. However, this finished by about 11pm and didn't effect our stay - of course, it was midweek at the end of the season so could be worse in the height of summer.

Good location. Nice breakfast. Free car parking. Clean room. Wouldn't say it was 4 star, but it was a cheap room rate. Breakfast was extra and a bit pricey but was very nice.

Amazingly quiet for a seafront location. Very comfortable bed. Tthe smell of the frying fat used at breakfast seemed to permeate through to the landings and corridors and stayed there! I'm not a cooked breakfast fan at the best of times. Some Flora instead of butter would have been good too.

The staff were fantastic. They were very helpful and polite. The walls are very thin - I was kept awake both nights by a man snoring in the room next door. The bathrooms are not as nice as the rooms, probably wouldn't class it as 4*

This is in a great loaction and the staff were very freindly on arrival, I would saty at the hotel again. The only problem we found was that the walls are very thin and we were woken by the people in the next room in the early hours of the morning

Fantastic location, close to all attractions and near the beach. Free parking was brilliant. Also appreciated the fact that we could check in until 11pm. Other places we looked at you could only check in until 9.00. Cord in bathroom was broken it was a long reach to turn fan/lights on.

the weather was nice sunny, but the wind off the sea made it very cold. This did not dampen our visit. the staff were very helpful, kind friendly and obliging. booked for one night, stayed for two. we ate out in the evening at The Regent restaurant, again a place that the food was great, staff could not do more for you. overall our stay was great even if the weather was not the best.

This is the first time i have actually wrote a reveiw for the Marine Lodge. All i can say is that if this hotel had any faults my family and i would not be returning yearly for the last 15 years for long weekends and midweek breaks at the Marine Lodge. All the staff are friendly, Everything that you need is within walking distance from the Marine Lodge ideal location. cannot say what i liked the best because it's all good, we have never had any problems, always made welcome.
