The website said the hotel was 1.3 miles from Oxford; I think that is a bit conservative and it's more like 1.5 to 1.6 miles from the center
27 April 2015
Self catering in room if required friendly staff
26 April 2015
The smell of smoke all in the building and right outside front door.
25 April 2015
Friendly professional staff

Smelt of bacon and eggs and though provide a very good selection of cereals and coffee tea, the hot breakfast was poor and as it was served in room you were woken for it.
Excellent bed and clean
25 April 2015
The mattress was very hard and bed covers very tacky and overused. We had a bad sleeping experience!!!! The shower was not working properly and caused us extra unnecessary stress.
Location was excellent and so was the customer service we had. We were welcomed and always treated with a warm friendly smile!

Breakfast was served in the room, which sounded good, and there was a fridge in the room, which also sounded good. In the event, my supposed-Continental breakfast turned out to be two warmed-up croissants and scrambled egg served on the same plate. And the two bedrooms we were in (that is another story) smelt of fried food. Also, the fridge was ridiculously noisy. That, plus the very hard bed, meant i got very little sleep.
The hotel is an easy two-mile walk from the city centre.
19 April 2015
House very smelly with kichen grease smell, and room insulation poor. You can hear all other rooms' water pipe sound.
Location is convenient, but rather noisy at night.
17 April 2015
The hotel was good value and the staff were helpful and friendly.

This is NOT a 4-star hotel in terms of comfort & style - thin pillows, small towels, water stains on the ceiling, finishing are simple, decor is dated - but it is OK. I booked early so the rate (125GBP twin room) was acceptable (it is Oxford afterall) but it is not worth more than that (IMO).
The location - 2-miles from the heart of Oxford & 7-minute walk from Summertown which has great restaurants, wine bars, grocery stores, shops & bank. Free WiFi - would drop occasionally but strong signal (no probs watching NetFlix) Kitchenette in the room.
10 April 2015
Only scramble eggs available.
Room is spacious and nicely decorated. Good strong wifi. Felt pampered to have breakfast served in the room. Nice dog.
5 April 2015
Breakfast is OK (served in the room) - bathroom is a bit old and with a not so nice smell - it was clean overall. Compared to other comparable Locations it seems to be expensive - maybe a not so nice side effect of being in Oxford
Location is central in Oxford and stuff is extremly firendly

Our suite was spacious, clean, comfortable and very quiet. Staff very pleasant and helpful and it was a treat to be served a cooked breakfast in our room the next morning. Will definitely return. Thank You Marlborough House.

Loved the kitchenette Very spacious Food in the room
10 February 2015
Decor a little tired, and bathroom could do with some modernising, though all functional.
The hotel - which is really a large B@B - is about a mile and a half from city centre on a main road, with regular buses in and out. We had the 'Guest Suite' which is very large with excellent kitchen facilities. Comfortable bed. Breakfast brought to your room which was fine by us but some might find a bit odd!
9 February 2015
Kitchenette in the room.
5 February 2015
Everything, breakfast served in room, best tea making facilities in any hotel I have stayed in and probably the largest room ever.
3 February 2015
We were surprised that staff were hoovering / cleaning outside our door and in the corridor on and off for about an hour on Saturday afternoon when we were trying to read and relax!
Very helpful staff, clean room, good facilities, good location.
