We were in Oxford for a family confirmation service and chose the Marlborough house hotel because it was near to the church. It was however easy to drive into Oxford or alternatively use the bus which stopped outside the hotel. Also convenient for exploring the area and particularly the lovely countryside pubs! The hotel is situated on the main road into Oxford in a leafy residential area but the windows are all double glazed and we slept well in a very comfortable bed. The room was spacious, nicely decorated and the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean as was the rest of the hotel. The room included a round table and two chairs for dining or using as a desk and the furniture in the room provided ample storage space..The kitchenette was much appreciated, with drinks, including a bottle of white wine, fresh milk, and jams and small packets of cheese in the fridge. There was also a choice of cereal and a bottle of red wine, and tea coffee sugar etc. We chose a cooked breakfast (no extra charge) and there was a vegetarian option. This was brought to our room at the time chosen. We stayed one night only but will definitely return when visiting relatives in the area. An excellent base for touring with so much to see. Don't miss the Ashmolean Museum and do visit it's roof restaurant (inside or out) with it's excellent range of dishes. Eating outside on a warm day was delightful. There is even a grassy area with deck chairs! No dislikes but just a helpful comment for future gusts. Our room was on the top floor and there were two flights of stairs to negotiate. However our baggage was carried up for us and we loved being high up. There is no lift but you can request rooms on the ground and first floors for those who cannot easily use the stairs. The young man on reception was very courteous and helpful and offered to carry our bags up for us. We are both in our 70s so this was much appreciated.

The buildings are good quality and the suites are really nice too. Cleanliness was a bit lacking, cobwebs in corners, crumpled cushions and we had a couple of major ( yes major) problems showing very poor organisation and management( something like Fawlty Towers) eg. A stranger had the key to our room and we found had been given the same room as us, he literally walked into our room at 1030pm using his room key. Management was not around after 8pm And more.......

We were upgraded to a family room. Beds were comfortable and room was large. Parking is a bit tight and only really holds 5 cars before you start blocking people in.

The nice touches they provided is a joy to a new arrival. Juice and milk (half litre) were provided free and so were coffee and a selection of teas. Imagine walking into your room after a long drive and being greeted with all these refreshments. We ended up extending our stay.

-I have friends living in Oxford, outside the city center. The Marlborough House Hotel was close by, and offered the best price. -The full English breakfast was fantastic. -Loved having the kitchenette--I brought leftovers home one night after eating out, and was able to refrigerate and later reheat them. There are also dishes in the cabinets, and silverware and other kitchen tools, including a bottle opener, in the drawer. -The staff was very helpful. When I couldn't figure out the toilet (hint for room 12: while I was staying there, I had to manually fill the tank until it would flush), the staffer who brought me breakfast graciously explained it to me. When I wanted to settle my account the night before an early departure, it was taken care of right away. -The B&B also provides a hairdryer. Look in the drawers if it's not immediately apparent--I only discovered it on my last night. -Very comfortable bed. -I had a friend staying with me for one night, and the price for an extra person was only 15 pounds more than for a single bed.

Our room was lovely - clean, spacious and comfortable - and the member of staff who checked us in and out was polite and helpful. Breakfast was served in our room, but this was not a problem because we had a table and chairs. We felt it was a bit expensive (but everywhere in Oxford is pricey!) but with the microwave and fridge in our room we were able to save a bit of money by eating in. The location was great - just a 10 minute bus ride into the centre of Oxford - and there was free parking too. Would definitely stay there again.

The mini kitchen was useful. Free parking outside the room. Just by bus stop into town. The duvet cover was too heavy to be comfortable. The shower was handheld. And the bath was chipped. They did not have two keys for the room, which was inconvenient.

The room was large and well appointed in the main Having ordered my breakfast for a specific time as requested it did not arrive, and the second day when it did arrive at the right time it was not what I had ordered, When I raised the issue with the manager I was basically told it was my fault = I had a telephone so why did I not use it!! I was not offered any apology and when I asked for a discount on the bill this was refused as they had already taken the money from my credit card. I found the whole experience upsetting and unpleasant.

Very lovely room in nice neighborhood. Very gracious innkeepers. It was a fairly long walk to downtown Oxford, although the neighborhood was lovely and there is a regular bus for those who prefer not to walk.

Amazingly friendly welcome, with a member of staff taking me to my room to show me all that it had to offer. A very comfortable room with everything and more in it to make my stay perfect. Everything was thought out very carefully with generous complitmentary tea and coffee items, biscuits, cornflakes, and the microwave was a brilliant touch. The public rooms, too, were warm and comfortable and the staff that I met were absolutely lovely. A real gem of a B & B giving 5 star service.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large and very clean with a kitchenette. The room was cold with no adjustment. The TV was small and the remote did not work well. The location is beyond comfortable walking distance to the Oxford City center, especially with luggage. However, the #6 or S3 buses were across the street.

All was fine and excellent value for money. Not a complaint but a suggestion. When Breakfast is due to be served 0730 to 0800 suggest most people will hope to see it closer to the earlier time rather than the later time. We were due to leave at 0800 and it was a scramble.
