Spacious room Central location Everything very clean
No room service nor telephone so every time you wanted anything you had to go down three flights of stairs. No staff on duty after 10pm and no way through from car park to hotel after 10pm.
Room good size, comfortable, clean, modern bathroom.
Make sure you get down early for breakfast, things get taken away well before cut off. The woman made us feel like we were an inconvenience.
What a wonderful place to stay a 15th Century Coaching Inn full of character with very helpful and friendly Staff the room we were in was very comfortable spacious and quiet ( it was at the back ) We had an excellent evening meal across the road at the Kings Arms recommended by the Proprietor and the visit was rounded of with an excellent breakfast. We would certainly stay again if in Woodstock
Well located for the village and Oxford, good bedroom and large bathroom and shower. Excellent breakfast with very obliging waitress. Very pleasant staff and good to have free on-site parking.
Nothing apart from the overhead shower which had no directional adjustment, and no soap/shampoo shelf.
Excellent location, very welcoming and knowledgeable staff, Very quiet room even though on front of hotel.
Superior double room very pleasant but slightly let down by the shower which took 10 mins to run hot then was very hard to control temperature wise. Also would expect two hand and two bath towels.
Met in a welcoming and friendly manner, with good advice proffered re local eating possibilities, and travel facilities.
Hotel built in 15th century as a family house. The present owner is a direct descendant. Recently refurbished and providing a relaxed and hospitable environment bang in the heart of Woodstock and with its own car park. Breakfasts full English and to die for. I would definitely come again.
The interior was furnished in dark brown leather making the already dark medieval interior feel gloomy.
Large comfortable room with all mod cons. Excellent breakfast.
Attention to detail, welcome, spacious room, excellent breakfast
Pleasant welcome and no fuss checking in Comfortable room cheerful staff good location good breakfast well heated good parking
nothing, it was all good
Great for visiting Blenheim Palace, room very good and clean, bathroom huge. Breakfast on Saturday and Sunday excellent, replaced unwanted items with something else i.e. egg instead of sausage, staff excellent. Would recomend this bed and breakfast to anyone.
Not really a valid dislike but Monday breakfast, they didnt offer to exchange the unwanted items for some reason, still excellent breakfast though.
Spacious quiet room, spotlessly clean.
No full length mirror.
everything, warm welcome, comfortable room and fantastic breakfast.
Nothing to dislike.
Staff where extremely helpful
1. My wife and I both suffer from Arthritis and we asked to be allocated a room with minimum stairs. We were allocated a lovely, spacious room across a courtyard from the main building, which was ideal. 2. Parking is not a problem! 3. Our room was beautifully appointed and well equipped - very quiet and extremely comfortable. 4. We were able to be joined by our daughter for breakfast (at a VERY reasonable price) on each of the days of our stay - a real plus, because it was her birthday! 4. We will certainly be back. This has to be the most comfortable and caring B & B that I have ever stayed in!
We were made very welcome and given the run of the place including front door keys. Good Bed and Bathroom Beautifully kept Grade One listed building. The front reception room has a very old marble fire surround that had been etched / signed over the ages one dating back to 1786. Breakfast was great.
We had a road side bedroom which was very picture postcard during day time, a bit noisy at 7 in the morning but after a very night out it was not a serious problem!
Great hotel, beautiful rooms very very comfortable with a touch of luxury. Great breakfast and excellent hosts
The building was lovely and rooms clean.
No atmosphere, very unwelcoming. Breakfast poor, room average not worth 175.00 pounds. It seems the owners just want you in and out ,stayed at much better B and B for less and had a quality breakfast, the Marlborough should not be classed as luxury.
The staff were fantastically welcoming, helpful and friendly. The experience of entering the main hall and reception area was like walking into a renaissance mansion in Rome, only better.
Age and history of the building Very Comfortable bed Breakfast Great off road parking friendly receptionist
Small sink and powerful cold tap which if you turned on a 1/4 to far meant you would get a wet skirt or trousers as the water redirected over tthe edge of the sink. Room 3 is secondary glazed but this does not stop the constant noise of the traffic especially on a weekday morning. Could not order breakfast before 07:45 on a monday morning. Bill not made up for departure
staff was kind
old, smelly, outdated, very bad shower, and way too expensive for what they offer. price should be half.
Ground floor location. Excellent bathroom, Excellent breakfast, Excellent hospitality
Room was cold no heating on. Television wrong position needed to be moved and raised. Had to walk across courtyard to main building for breakfast(raining)
From the moment we arrived it was apparent this was going to be a perfect place to say. The greeting, service and fabulous breakfast were first class.
Room 10 at the back of the building was more like a junior suite - very spacious! It was also well-serviced and clean (within the limits of an ancient building that must be a never-ending job to maintain and is never going to be spotless). The bathroom fittings, though, look new - very nice! As others have said, some rooms overlook the road and will be noisier, but that's what you get with a hotel/B&B on the main drag, isn't it? People who live/sleep on main roads, or near railway lines etc, won't be bothered at all. We specifically requested a quiet room and they came up trumps! Positionally, it's ideal for all that Woodstock/Blenheim has to offer. We stayed 3 nights over the August BH and the breakfasts were good - the usual cereals etc in buffet-style; otherwise just ask for what you want. Didn't see any problem with not having a menu as such; other B&B's we've used have been the same. As long as you think of this establishment as a character B&B, not a hotel, you won't be disappointed. It's not cheap, but you pays your money...
Not a major gripe (because you can always block others in and move when asked!) but the car park isn't quite big enough at peak times (fine otherwise), and long-term parking in Woodstock isn't easy. There are some unrestricted places on the road right outside their car park but the nearby free public car park is only 12 hours in any 24. How the other Woodstock hotels with no parking at all get on I don't know. Pity the local council doesn't issue car park passes to hotels as in some other towns. But I reiterate that this really isn't a major problem and won't affect you at all 99% of the time - just a comment, really.
Historic quality and ambience. Good amenities and excellent breakfast.
Recommended restaurant was poor.
