Room was good size and well furnished. Hotel in good location. Very clean.
No chair in room so had to sit on floor to do make up etc. Bathroom very plain. Breakfast was poor
Cleanliness Staff very friendly and responsive Breakfast very good
Very spacious and comfortable suite, the staff were very helpful in organising taxis, dinner reservations, etc. I wish we could have stayed longer.
My room was beautifully appointed and looked just lovely! It was small (single room) but very cosy and comfortable. It almost looked like an Edwardian historical recreation! The staff were helpful, the breakfast delicious and the location was terrific (about a 10 minute walk from the city centre but in a really quiet area). Highly recommended!
Close to the city whilst being relaxing and making us feel a million miles away, thanks
lovely comfortable bed and quality pieces of furniture around the hotel good breakfast, location and staff
poor internet connection (broken in room) and wi fi intermitant
Great location. Friendly staff and a lovely hotel. We had 3 nights in the loft suite which was stunning. 10 minutes walk to the shambles. We will definitely stay here again next time we visit York.
The car park is a bit small especially if you have a large car.
Staff very friendly and accommodating. Especially the lady on reception. Breakfast superb. Lovely room - loved the decor
There were a few noisy guests but not the fault of the hotel. Quite a lot of dust under the bed. Only discovered this because I put my case under the bed and it came out full of dust.
The staff are very helpfull and cheerfull

Not much info on check in, room a tad shabby
Our deluxe room was spacious and airy. The furniture was old style an in keeping with the house. We never used the bar but the lounge area looked lovely. The bed was large and comfortable. Shower was quite large with a great power washing head, very easy to use. Nice array of coffee, drinking chocolate and biscuits. Breakfast was beautiful, good quality ingredients with great selection. The location of the house was approximately a 15 minute walk to the shopping area. Nice garden at the back for smokers.
Our bathroom was a little small, with poor lighting and no ventilation. The bed pillows had no protectors and were stained, didn't check mattress after that, was afraid to! The runner and matching pillows on the bed needed a good washing. Parts of the house looked shabby, e.g. ceiling wallpaper falling off in lounge area, wooden floors downstairs need resanded, however the staircase was being repainted during our stay so it's possible they plan to redecorate these areas.

Lovely atmosphere and decor. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable, it had all we needed. Loved the bathroom and roll top bath. Bed looked good and the sheets and bedding were top quality (important to me). Breakfast was good (but the bacon wasnt crispy!). Would stay again.
No handwash or bubble bath
Rooms were nicely decorated. Good breakfast
Bed was very soft. Lots of noise in mornings
The breakfast and the friendly staff.
Too much furniture in a small bedroom.
Spacious room, tastefully decorated, quiet location, easy parking
Floors were slippery, only bath, no shower, lots of noises at night, sounded like glass being thrown into recycling bin, overpriced, breakfast too late
Character Location Facilities Parking
Location is good.
Inside the room is very hot and the fan is very noisy due to July reason.
Location and vintage style.
Location was excellent for the walk into town. The staff were fantastic. The breakfast was delicious. Our whole stay was lovely. We will be staying here again...just a bit of advice for anyone who is booking, if you require a shower then ask for a bathroom that has one!! Our bathroom was very large and nice but only had a roll top bath.(room 513)
Having to pay for parking at £5 per night is wrong. Seeing as though we were guests in the hotel and not just visitors.
Can't fault it!
Location Old World Charm
Might be the best English breakfast I've had, Best sausages and mushrooms with out a doubt. Good location, good service
Small room, small bed - I'm short and so bed size was not an issue, but if you are taller than 175 cm I'd ask for a room with a larger bed.
Convenient to city.
Would have preferred if evening meals were provided. No or little use of the bar and lounges.
