Score from 115 reviews Wonderful
It felt special immediately. We, well myself, before my partner arrived, were greeted with a very warm Christmas greeting. Warmth, Style, that's both the decor and the wonderful people providing excellent service. Very special. Feel very lucky to have woken there on Christmas day.
Not a thing.
Car parking and a short walk to the city makes this a great location the breakfast was great too
A very soft bed, we like a firm bed not their fault
The Hotel character
Having a wedding on when guests were there
Staff, facilities, location. The perfect chose for a weekend getaway.
Ambience and polite friendly staff. Nice walking distance from the heart of York, so quiet location. Good individual room. Good breakfast with plenty of choice.
Pillows too plump!
location room staff
fires not lit in december
Walking distance to the Minster and shops just 10 minutes Hotel was lovely. Bedroom was spacious and very clean and nice and warm at this time of year. Breakfast was good
The staff were very freindly and helpful.
Parking was very limited and didn't expect the extra cost, suggest adding parking to the price of the stay.
the suite with sauna was great!
The hotel was welcoming and emaculately clean and comfortable
Really good location. No need to worry about the car, left in in their car park for £5.00 per day and 10 mins walk into York centre. Room really nice, bed comfortable and breakfast was very good. Would definitely recommend. We have stayed here 3 times, if you are feeling flush the loft suite is lovely.
Nothing negative to say about it.
The easy atmosphere
No soap basin in the shower.
The room was lovely, a real treat to have a 4 poster bed and a roll top bath! The staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast tasty and a good variety. I would recommend to anyone!
Only negative is that food is not served in the evenings. My partner was ill and could not leave the room one evening and room service would have been ideal in this circumstance.
Good location, close to centre. Good cooked breakfast - cooked to order & plenty of it.
SUNDAY AM On top floor in attic room (518) so needed to keep value windows slightly open. Woke up by night staff filling exterior bottle bank in the early hours for 15 mins. Woken again by hot water boiler problem at 7am (in landing store cupboard adjacent to room door) Had to call reception for them to attend and fix.
The space in the suite was good and the location was handy for the city centre. The bedroom and lounge area were very good.
It has a kitchen but no practical things like dinner plates, forks, mugs, or instructions on how to work the oven. Why have a kitchen but lack all these things for guests who want to simply heat a pizza up? The kitchen had floor lights that stayed on all night ! The separate toilet and wet room are poor compared to a roll topped bath in other rooms.
Unable to park at Hotel
Location and accommodation was ideal. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, staff very attentive.
Lack of hot water both in evening and early morning was little disappointing.
Very helpful and attentive staff when we had a puncture, and shower problems
Location Room Very very clean
Shower very hard to work No plug socket by the bed for phone charger
the unique and individuality of the rooms and the cheerful and helpful staff
There is nothing not to like
good hotel and the staff were excellent and most helpfull..
nothing to dislike
Rooms were kept immaculate, clean towels every day, tea making facilities and biscuits. Loved the balcony we had
Thought the rooms were a bit small for a 4 poster, also didn't like the " carpet like" draw curtains, so heavy- maybe that heavy as the French doors and windows were only single glazed. Also, we thought the full English breakfast was much to be desired...... Fatty bacon, rubber sausages etc in fact I took to getting poached egg or bacon butty and even then it was full of fat! Also, the tea wasn't that hot out of the pot! This was a recuperation break, paid for by my health insurance, but if we had paid for it ourselves, we wouldn't be very happy, bit too expensive for what you got!
Lovely and warm, nice furnishings, good choice of food for breakfast.
Cost at the bar !
The staff were very friendly and helpful .The hotel was beautiful, very welcoming and relaxing. Hopefully we will enjoy another stay in the future.
Friendly staff, The traditional feel of the hotel, Safe secure parking on site, Cracking breakfast served at a reasonable time for the none early birds of we were.
Only had to look at our rooms bed and it squeaked and groaned and made you feel it was ready for retirement, but this is the only minor gripe we had with the three nights we stayed.
