we asked to be moved on the first of our three night stay as there were many loud, drunk guests shout and slamming doors. Fair enough there were events going on at the hotel but we were not part of them so should have been given a room elsewhere. Our 'kingsize' bed was in fact two twin beds with a mattress topper on the top. In the first room the topper was thin so there was a dip in the middle of the bed. I asked a member of staff about this and whilst he apologised and in our next room the topper was better, he said it was the 'design of the beds'. I have never come across a kingsize bed that is designed that way! There is no air conditioning and you cant open the windows. Although the catch in our second room you could open so that sufficed. When we ate in the restaurant all the steaks were off the menu leaving quite a limited choice. We also ate in the bar and my husband had to send his chicken back as it was hard and dry. Pretty underwhelmed with the whole place.
swimming pool , gym , room , great surroundings .
booked family room , arrived never had a family room , but was sorted out.
The hotel and staff were lovely with nothing too much trouble. The hotel was clean, comfortable and quiet with beautiful grounds. A wedding was in full swing when we arrived and apart from a few guests wandering about for us to notice no noise or disturbance was evident.
Booking late we were unable to sit in the main restaurant which is understandable. We ate in the bar and found the food choices disappointing. We expected at least a couple of dishes where we could have plain food with vegetables. What we got was a choice of pizzas and burgers really. A very nice lamb burger with chips but not what we were expecting. A shame the menu let down a beautiful hotel.
The swimming pool and the breakfast
The location - but you can't blame them for motorway noise, it's the West Midlands
The location plus the staff were fantastic and very helpful, the food was brilliant, it was very child and dog friendly, we had a 4 day stay with a 10 year granddaughter and a 3 year Labrador, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, our room in the courtyard had everything we needed and more. We will definitely be visiting Speech House again in the very near future.
Having to go home.
The staff and night manger
The staff, amazingly helpful, very impressed!
views space and design of the building variety of food available at breakfast
very busy and noisy not relaxing at all 4 weddings on at the same time
Reception staff put us in a quiet area of the hotel which was good as there were 4 weddings taking place on our first night
No chef on at the omelette station for breakfast on the Sunday morning
Staff, facilities, pool and gym. As always Marriott beds!
Rather like a rabbit warren and lifts were not working - breakfast mediocre quality and ambience - very noisy with lots of kids - could have a family and a quiet area
excellent facilities pool all to our selves every evening
breakfast the same every morning
Absolutely top hotel which, whilst catering mainly for golfers, was still very well organized for families and children. Great breakfast and good facilities - very impressed. Please God, will visit again.
We found the whole experience enjoyable and relaxing and would definitely stay again.
Everything was perfect for a night away from home,
We weren't allowed to walk around the golf course.
Staff in the bar were very friendly and polite Food in the bar was good and was well presented
Slightly tired decor particularly in the stairwell/corridors, not a major criticism but apparent after a while since I last stayed at this hotel
Golf facility and gym
Restaurants bland bar uninspiring
Wonderful hotel and location. My wedding was held there. Guests loved it.
Nothing no negativity from me
Getting lost around the hotel
I booked the Saturday as a treat for an 18th,graduation,birthday. My husband played golf with the birthday boy and myself and my two daughters had a facial. The front of house receptionist left a bottle of wine in our rooms which was a lovely surprise. A great weekend.
The only negative was that there were no robes or slippers in the spa and we were told they had run out. I thought considering we had payed for three facials we would be entitled to them.
Very attentive and helpful staff Nice leisure facilities Grounds well kept - lots of flowers Clean and well organised breakfast Comfortable bed Duty Manager did listen to my complaint about the dirt in the room and did give a discount Room service - efficient
Dirty room - lots and lots of dust and dead skin cells! Not cleaned for 3 days - not sure what housekeeping does! Pillows very flat had to ask for firm Oak Grill very expensive and not a great choice on the menu
Facilities and grounds
The room we were allocated smelt of cigarettes even though it is a no smoking hotel and the restaurant and bar area were dirty and we had a 50 min wait for our meal.
Grounds where lovely, bed was awesome.
Price of food, not enough selections for a Gluten Free meal.
Customer service was excellent, rooms clean, food very good.
Noise late at night from other groups of guests. Golf breaks!
The beds were very comfy ! Breakfast superb
Lovely hotel great location golfers paradise
The main restaurant was fully booked for a golf party day out and we had only one option which was the cafe by the leisure club.
