    I love everything about this hotel. Couldn't fault anything. Room was lovely swimming pool AMAZING. Can't wait to go back again. Such a lovely break.

    Was nice to take my wife away, the hotel was clean and looked the part from the outside. The staff were all polite and helpful.

    We were told we could use the pool and not to worry as towels would be provided. Assuming they would be in the pool we went down there & after looking found no towels so my wife had to use an emergency phone as the pool is unattended and someone brought us some down. It wasn't explained to us we were supposed to go to the lesuire centre reception beforehand. Also the rooms had no air conditioning only a mini fan which we put on the drawers only for it to fall off and smash, we told the lady who brought room service and she was lovely about it but said there was no more available for us so was a uncomfortable night as it was extremely hot. Also we had a choice of 2 rooms and choose the one we were told was at the quiet end of the hotel however we could still hear party music. Also I booked a superior room assuming it would be well 'superior' but I've had better rooms on a p & o ferry! The only thing superior was the king size bed the rest was very basic, I was quiet disappointed as this was a treat for my wife and we've never been able to get away before having a young son and it was nothing I expected from such a highly rated hotel and a superior room! Won't be staying again. Also when at breakfast people were asking for poached eggs etc and we didn't want to incase we were charged extra but nothing like that was explained to us, breakfast was included but there was a price list for it to the room but we weren't told of we could have that and pay a small fee or if we would have to pay full price ect. A definite lack of information provided.

    The location beautiful veiws so peaceful

    Breakfust quality on cooked items could be improved a little I requested poach egg thought it was a golf ball but the rest was very good

    * Lovely location and grounds. * Great swimming pool and jacuzzi, clean and relaxing, long opening hours. * Comfortable, quiet rooms. * Lots of places to sit and relax inside and outside. * Tasty and efficient room service. * Fast wifi (after you've paid an absurd amount for it, see dislikes). * Friendly, courteous staff, very efficient check-in and check-out.

    * Wifi costs £15 per day for hotel guests but is free in public areas for visitors to the hotel! Absurd policy and total rip-off, should be included in the room rate for all hotel guests! * Housekeeping problems: put in laundry on Friday morning, didn't get it back until late Monday due to Housekeeping negligence. No apology or recognition of inconvenience offered. Towels not always replaced. Old pillowcase left on table in room after changing sheets, etc. * Look and feel: dated decor and furnishings, obvious wear and tear, scuff marks and stains, peeling paintwork and rust in places, slow and often out-of-service lifts (quicker to take the stairs), etc. * No aircon. and room windows cannot open wide, meaning uncomfortable rooms during hot weather (fan provided which helps somewhat). * Get the impression that the hotel side of the business comes second to weddings, business functions and the health facilities.

    The overall experience was very good

    The room was nice and clean however it is showing signs of age. a little dated in its style.

    If you are looking for something a bit better than normal before flying this hotel was good. We had our two young children and were given interconnecting rooms. The rooms were a good size and comfortable beds.

    The pool was great but the changing room floors weren't very clean. There were old sticking plasters and tissues on the floor around the pool.

    The staff in the dining area for the evening were pleasant.

    Coffee took me to ask 3 staff before I received it, By which time I had finished my breakfast. There was no air con in my room. I asked for a fan. This was requested by bar staff whilst I was there. It never arrived. Room was excessively hot therefore. No mini bar. Bathroom outdated as I think the whole building is. Staff agreed the building is dated and old fashioned. Value for money is poor.

    We couldn't claim our Marriott points as we had booked through booking.com We've stayed here a few times over the years but rooms are getting a bit shabby now

    Reception staff very pleasant. Booked into a double but had requested a twin. Reception accommodated us and had our twin room. Nice size beds and comfy too. Breakfast good nice choice.

    Heathcliffes restaurant. Service slow. Staff ok but could be better. Meals very overpriced. Fillet of beef ridiculously priced. Ordered chicken stuffed with mushrooms and harrogate blue. Unfortunately, only got the chicken! Slow In taking dessert order, slow to deliver dessert. In the end, we gave up and had no dessert. Perhaps front of house needs more customer service focus.

    the quietness and comfort of the bedroom. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff with special mention of Wayne in the bar who, whenever he spotted us relaxing on the terrace or in the lobby would present us with glasses of iced water, which in the warmth of the days were very much appreciated.

    there was nowhere to put the hand towel near the basin in the bathroom and that there was no bedside table on one side of the bed.It was a two double bed room but there was room for a bedside table. We rearranged the funiture so that the big table became the bedside one.

    I failed to read her name tag! She's the lady incharfe of the spa/pool/gym reception. She has the smile if an angel! And she helped ask the spa ladies for a squeeze if nail-remover and cotton pad for me - when I had ruined my nail varnish and felt untidy to attend a wedding that way. It may be a small favour on her part but huge to me as I managed to enjoy my day without having to be self-conscious of the untidy varnish, which was removed. I have thanked her but please acknowledge her great attitude :)

    Having to ramage through our emails to find proof of the rate that was confirmed but was not what the reception said when we checked in :(

    Large room with comfortable bed, tea/coffee making equipment, wide range of TV channels. Excellent breakfast. Zest Bar provided drinks and bar meals service til 11pm. Full range of leisure facilities on-site. Large free car park.

    Noise of heavy bedroom doors banging shut in the morning and wedding disco noise at night.
