Pretty much everything.
Toilet flush in room 409 was not very effective. Possibly a blocked drain outside the building.
Beautiful surroundings - impressively maintained golf courses and parkland. Original building, dating back centuries with flagstone floors, huge stone fireplace and panelled rooms. Every room appeared to have a view. Very good breakfast. Friendly staff
Tired looking carpets throughout. Poor shower. Overpriced and very average food in Zest bar
First impression was magical. Reception could not have been more friendly or helpful. Room spotless, large and most comfortable with all usual equipment of a 4* hotel Breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have ever experienced
Hotel car parking mixed with golfers' car park - lots of coming and going.
This was an anniversary present to us and we had a wonderful relaxing child free weekend. Everything was lovely. The room was great with a , very comfortable bed, it over looked the 18th hole. the pool and gym were great. staff very friendly.
Having to leave would liked to have stayed longer
I thought it was a beautiful hotel in an idealic location . The food was amazing and the staff were lovely .
In our room in the lakeside village which was meant to be a double bed room we had 2 beds that pushed together and both me and my partner kept falling down the gap all night :(
A unique setting with unique views. Cosy rooms.
You can open the windows only for a crack.
Excellent facilities and service
Very friendly staff, superb surroundings, quality furnishings.
The fact that the bedroom was too hot and even though the window was open, it was still quite uncomfortable
Reception staff unhelpful. Bad damp smell in bedrooms. No air conditioning. Window opening maginal.
* The pool and ladies changing rooms were very good (can't comment on the men's!) * Setting was lovely * Room spacious with plenty of storage space. * Breakfast was very nice, with plenty of choice.
* the golfers - they took over the bar and terraces, and treated the hotel guests as intruders. * Food in Zest was nothing special.
Friendliness of staff; peace & tranquility of surroundings.
Pretty main building and surroundings - my friends from outside the UK were very excited about it. They were also pleased with the leisure facilities. We had somewhere to be in Bristol early the next morning, and this was an excellent alternative to staying in Bristol itself. Breakfast was very good and the staff were friendly.
The spread of the rooms across the site was less convenient on the rainy days we were there. The staff got themself in a bit of a confusion about our rooms, which couple had paid for which, and what they had debited from our cards which was not a hugely smooth experience. As other reviewers have said, I felt the decor was a little tired, and also that the Zest restaurant was quite expensive for somewhere that was showing TV sport whilst we were eating - it was pleasant and relaxed but too pricey for such en environment.
Friendly staff, very comfortable room and excellent food in the restaurant with emphasis on local produce.
Very creaky floorboards in room and corridor so if needing to come in late or leave early could be disturbance for other guests
Location, layout of hotel, facilities. Friendly staff
Very soft mattress
golf course very good breakfast very good
no air conditioning only a very small desk top fan.
Views Architecture Good breakfast General day staff excellent Landscape- golf course pretty Checkout 12pm
Nightstaff- not the best personnel skills. Reception carpet dirty. Rooms- No Aircon (listed building the excuse). Hearing the early morning golfers inevitable.
Distance to public facilities
Friendly reception staff Lovely building and grounds Excellent breakfast
Pool/Leisure area - needs a refurb, small and very tired looking. Rooms in wing annex, again very tired and no air con and at £200 p/night a fan in the wardrobe is just not good enough. We were on the ground floor and the window only opened about 2 inches, so it was very hot and stuffy!
Checkout spoilt the whole experience
Was told when checking in that I needed to pay in full as using a debit card and an extra £50 on top to be charged against the room just incase we use room service. When checking out and expecting the deposit returned the receptionist charged me for the full room price again. I explained the situation she then called a manager who was extremely rude. Terrible customer service! Shocking!!
good location, nice setting. Fish & Chips in casual restaurant was excellent.
Room absolutely stifling! 4 star Marriot Hotel with NO air-con. Window only opened 3 inches (Health & Safety) however we were on the ground floor !!!.Reception staff said there was a fan in the wardrobe !! THIS IS A DISGRACE No mini fridge/bar poor bathroom needs an urgent upgrade
