This historic country inn has delicious food and luxury rooms. It is within a few miles of the famous Celtic Manor Resort, home of the 2010 Ryder Cup. The Old Barn Inn dates back to the early 1750s.
Score from 271 reviews Superb
In 50 acres of stunning grounds, this beautiful manor house combines charming original features and period detail with contemporary comforts and superb relaxation and spa facilities.

Set in a 17th-century former farmhouse just metres from the banks of the River Wye, Parva Guesthouse is less than a mile from historic Tintern Abbey.
Score from 179 reviews Fabulous
Starff was not ready to serve customers. Some were drunk when he came to my room for clean the room
the room, the leisure facilities and the breakfast was excellent too. Staff very helpful and friendly
Beautiful original building Parking Grounds
Poor bar and restaurant atmosphere. Food was not good
Nothing to dislike, from the beginning to the end of our fabulous weekend stay.
SO MUCH I COULD SAY THE BOTTOM LINE IS WE ENJOYED EVERYTHING
very average meal, over priced . 4 of us had a meal and bottle wine =£175. NEVER AGAIN.
Brimming with character, refurbished to high standard, accurate 4 star rating, GPS co-ordinates to the drive entrance (very useful if arriving at night as the hotel is a few hundred metres from the entrance)
I didn't pay for a longer stay!
We had a double room which was considerably spacious in a quiet part of the hotel. There was a wedding on the second night and we were able to sleep soundly. The bed was very comfy while breakfast was well catered for. For the price we paid and what we got it was value for money.
We were going to the rugby international in Cardiff and it is just generally a bit awkward to ge to if you aren't driving.
In separate building which had next door guests up and down stairs and banging doors until 4am. Getting wet on way to dining room.
Wonderful buidings & surroundings. Good room, good bed, great value.
Lack of aircon, both restaurants were booked full with many non-residents.
I found the hotel's location and the architecture of the old hotel beautiful. I also thought the breakfast was superb - one of the best I have ever had in a hotel. The leisure facilities were great too. We had a very pleasant swim in the morning.
I would have preferred a room in the old part of the hotel. I would also have liked mushrooms and black pudding with the breakfast, but (that having been said), the breakfast was great. One of the members of staff (on reception) did not have very good English and was a little curt!
The staff are friendly, cheerful and helpful.
The hotel itself needs refreshing and modernising and the quality of the evening meal in the bistro/bar was only passable. The food offered in the Sunday breakfast buffet was low-end and included powdered scrambled egg. The dining room carpet and windows were grubby.
Very pleasant room in the Lakeside Village, super comfortable bed and pillows, excellent quality and choice for breakfast
No courtesy umbrellas for guests caught out by change in weather and staying out of the main building. Long queue to check out.
Comfortable and clean room with a pleasant view.
Lack of information. Main restaurant only open Friday and Saturday for dinner in Autumn but this is not made clear. Notice at reception to say that Morgan restaurant closed this evening leaving guests to expect it will be open the next evening. Website shows two restaurants but when look closely it shows only Friday and Saturday for dinner. This could be made a lot clearer. Facilities not explained clearly, ie I didn't know of driving range until day of leaving. I wouldn't recomend to friends ( nor to customers. as a coach operator)
Practically everything and look forward to an opportunity to return
Lack of parental control of children in breakfast room.e.g. Child climbing out of window with no response from adults.
feather topped matress
Staff at checkin were helpful and location was good. Breakfast was excellent but would have liked some tasty wheat free bread rather than the tasteless white option I was offered.
Bathroom was far too small for two people. Nowhere to put wet towels and toiletries. Bedside lights were covered in dust and complimentary tea/coffee tray was half empty...in fact there was no coffee. Food in two casual restaurants was not of a good standard.
really friendly staff, in all areas of the hotel, from reception, spa all the way to the gardeners,,,, really clean, nice room, comfy bed, nice bathroom, could have done for with a few more teas/coffees... (they are available if asked for) spa, was lovely!!! will defiantly be back, soon!
having to pay extra for a z-bed, this wasn't mentioned during booking. also having to pay for wifi!
Nice setting and location, generally staff where helpful and polite. Rooms in Lakeview complex were nice.
Food in Zest restaurant was poor.
The bedroom was cosy and clean. The Morgans restaurant where we had breakfast was good and the choice of things for breakfast was the best we have ever had. We would go back just for the breakfast.
The walk from our bedroom was arduous because I cannot walk far and we did not know about this when booking. It was raining so that did not help. Morgans restaurant was fully booked for the evening meal so we had to eat in the other restaurant. Our experience was not good. Our table was dark and the waiter did not understand English very well. So when I asked for plain hake and vegetables it still came with dressing all over it. My husband had finished his meal by the time mine was served. On paying we complained and all they said was they would take it up with the chef but obviously the chef knew. Perhaps a reduction in the bill might have been in order.
Well looked after communal areas and grounds, great staff, good breakfast and dinner, comfortable beds and a lovely 'plush' feel.
Ghastly great big picture of 2 Marriott men in the main foyer - why?? Looks ridiculous in such a beautiful period area. Could hear the man in the next bedroom quite clearly talking on his phone...and the person he was talking to! Bedrooms need better insulation maybe?
Good location for racecourse Good food Nice bar Nice room Comfy bed Breakfast was lovely
Food was a bit pricey-evening meal
The breakfast was good. The bed as good, although a King would have been better than the Queen size bed. Front desk staff I had was good, although there was a chap there with others that needed a retraining in customer relations.
The leisure dining area was very noisy. The young blond girl who seated us seemed to think we were 2nd class citizens and firstly placed us in a dark obscure corner. When we objected to that, placed us next to a table with a screaming kid. When asked about another table she said there were no more, although most of the restaurant was vacant with only 5 or 6 tables being used. Her attitude put us off our meal, and we would not come back because of that treatment.
