The kippers for breakfast The owner that came and siad hellow and made himself know to us The maintenance man that gave us a valve compressor and tuning gun he had but no longer uses in his workshop. It was a bit over what we'd normally like to pay when away rallying

The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. They promoted other local tourist attractions e.g. the honey from Chain Bridge Farm and the settingwas ideal for those who want to stay out in the country, rather than a town. The manager was more than accommodating when another guest requested cheese and biscuits which were not on the dessert menu. Its hard to pin point the actual reason, but the feel of the hotel came across as being a bit tired. Maybe the flock wall paper brought back memories of our own childhoods, but something was missing to make this a 10 out of 10 experience.

Location and historical value of the building. Proximity to the boarder. Ave age was over 50, the ambience sometimes felt like a retirement home.

Thank you we were going to e-mail you anyway and found you had sent us this, we had an excellent stay the only thing it was too short as it was only an overnight stay on our way to family in Scotland, it was excellent in all ways, if i would have anything to say it would only be the pillows were a little bit hard for me but everything else was excellent. Many thanks we shall certainly use you again and recommend you to others Carole and Jim

We were running late. Telephoned Hotel and discussed arrival time. Chef stayed on duty another 1 hour, so that we could have a meal. Friendly staff, nothing too much trouble.

I love the location and the hotel itself. It's a lovely old Georgian house which is the type of hotel I like to stay in. The food is fantastic and couldn't fault anything during our stay. Would definitely stay there again.

The hotel offered the cheapest accommodation in BoT booking as I did on the day of stay. Breakfast choice included honeycomb straight from the frame and fresh fruit. One member of staff very helpful (Bruce) Decor very tired. Food poor either badly over cooked or undercooked. Breakfast coffee not freshly filtered was old and undrinkable, tablecloth dirty. Sea view was distant over other facilities. It took 20 mins to check out because no one could find the paper roll for the card machine. Staff appeared to lack standards and training

Very friendly welcome from the owner and staff - like a real country house. Extra service much appreciated - E.G. mug of free coffee and a chat in the bar on return from Berwick at midnight. Short taxi ride from station so very convenient for Berwick but very quiet and secluded. Comfy beds and very quiet so good nights sleep. Great breakfast to see us off in the morning - would visit again

I loved the location and the hotel was a beutiful old building which had recently been putchased by the current owners who were finding their feet and I think that it probably neede a bit of refurb in the main rooms but the bedrooms were fine and the view from the room lovely and tranquil.I Really enjoyed the stay

The evening meal was OK rather than superior, although due to a late meeting we arrived just as the restaurant was closing, and the quality of the meal somewhat reflected that.

Owners and staff were helpful. The bedroom occupied was generous in size A little colder in room temperature for bedroom and all day lounge than one would want on however there was no problem in turning up heating though it took time to build up the heat. Stay was 1 night/1 full day beginning of dec. 2011
