Very friendly welcome from the owner and staff - like a real country house. Extra service much appreciated - E.G. mug of free coffee and a chat in the bar on return from Berwick at midnight. Short taxi ride from station so very convenient for Berwick but very quiet and secluded. Comfy beds and very quiet so good nights sleep. Great breakfast to see us off in the morning - would visit again

The staff very very helpful I didnt like the menu , there were only 6 choices for evening meal , 5 of them were food cooked in wine the other was cooked in pepper sauce none of which I like , we asked about a steak and were informed we would have to pay a £9 each supplement for one , the following night a few farmers came in and were offered steak for £21.50 , why were we getting charged an extra £9

Location and local environment. Draught beer was a little flat / pipes seemed to requuire cleaning as there was a residual taste in the lager!

Easy to find and a good overnight stop for our trip to Scotland form Norwich to spend Christmas with family. We didn't get the twin bedded room asked for but too tired to do anything about it! Perhaps the evening meal was a little pricey but due to the location it was the only option for us.

I loved the location and the hotel was a beutiful old building which had recently been putchased by the current owners who were finding their feet and I think that it probably neede a bit of refurb in the main rooms but the bedrooms were fine and the view from the room lovely and tranquil.I Really enjoyed the stay

The evening meal was OK rather than superior, although due to a late meeting we arrived just as the restaurant was closing, and the quality of the meal somewhat reflected that.

Owners and staff were helpful. The bedroom occupied was generous in size A little colder in room temperature for bedroom and all day lounge than one would want on however there was no problem in turning up heating though it took time to build up the heat. Stay was 1 night/1 full day beginning of dec. 2011

Hands on for service from Robert &David [Brothers/Owners] Nothing was to much trouble. Hotel some areas could have been warmer, bedrooms nice and warm. Some areas in need of a refurb. But I understand this is being dealt with as the brothers have only had the hotel 3 month'S.

Food, comfy bed, close to main road but nice and peaceful Room very small for a double with only one bedside cabinet. Cracks in bathroom floor. Lots of cobwebs in breakfast room. Bar a bit chilly.

Nice location, nice people. Think I got it on a bad day for the food as the eyebay prawns hadn't been cleaned properly and I got the revenge of the dodgy prawn!. I can't be too critical as other people were eating and seemed to be fine. Just my luck.

This hotel is very dated. It is owned by two brothers who have grand ideas for the place but no financial clout to realise their dreams. On the first night of our stay we dined in the hotel resteraunt. My wife and I tried the Sea Bass. This came on a bed of crushed new potatoes. All I could say about it was that it lacked taste and imagination, just fish and spuds really! Breakfast was just passable. The bacon shown the grill to colour it and the mushrooms fried to a crisp. On our second day I tried the kippers and that was all I got! No brown bread, no lemon, no parsley to garnish what a disappointment. My wife tried the scrambled egg, well what a disaster that was. It looked like the chef had tried to do an omelette in a dirty frying pan, made a mess of it and passed it off as Scrambled Egg on Toast . For Pete's sake sack the chef and get a proper one! There is no internet at the place so taking my laptop was a waste of time. For our last night we decided to dine out. All the pubs / resteraunts in Bewick have finished serving by 21:00 and you;ll be hard pressed to find anything decent in the town or the surrounding area. Bewick upon Tweed is a mere shadow of it's former self a quant little seaside town on the Scottish Border. If you are thinking of going there don't, save your money and book somewhere with a bit more life in it. R.I.p Bewick upon Tweed!

Relaxed, friendly, lovely position. The very small portions of food, breakfast menu and what you got being very different especially the cold, uncooked sausages. The owners friend holding a phone conversation outside the door of my room at 2am then banging as many doors as he could. Small bed and pillows being very old and lumpy.

The hotel was the venue for the wedding of the son of old friends of ours. It was an excellent setting for the occasion, and we were treated like honoured guests. Our room was very comfortable, and the wedding ceremony and the festivities afterwards were beautifully staged. We travelled a long distance (from Coventry) to attend the event, but it was well worth the long drive. The staff were very helpful and attentive.

We found the sitaution ideal we only stayed one night on our way back from Scotland. We enjoyed a walk along the coast path. The room was very comfortable. I would have preferred a walk in shower but I did not ask for that so it was my msitake. I was glad the caravan site was almost empty as it would not have been so quiet and peaceful had the caravans been occupied. The beakfast was very good and we enjoyed it. The evening meal was poor . there was achoice and we chose lamb I have never tasted tough lamb before you could hardly cut it and certainly not chew it. The vegetables were dull and watery. We had an icecream in a tub for dessert which seemed a bit strange but was very nice.

The location and the settings and the hotel looked gorgeous . it was perfect for nipping over the border into scotland and ideal for berwick on tweed The room was very noisey not from other guests but from the staff and the kitchen fan . but to be fair the hotel owner tried to sort our problem and because no more rooms were available he did not charge us for the saturday night , because of this we stayed and had an amazing week-end ( thank you hotel manager ) but be warned if you stay try not to get room 8
