Situated on the tranquil North Hill of Minehead, Marston Lodge Hotel has lovely panoramic views of Exmoor National Park and Somerset’s rugged coastline. There is home-cooked food and free Wi-Fi. Ideal for exploration and relaxation, the elegant house was built around 1900 and retains much of its original elegant style and charm. Most of the comfortable and bright en suite bedrooms have panoramic views. The hotel is among the first private residences built on Exmoor’s North Hill. Guests are just a 5-minute walk from the beach or the shops and bars of Minehead’s town centre. The West Somerset Railway is a 10-minute walk. An extensive refurbishment has brought a new level of luxury to the Marston, including new, stylish tiled bathrooms. A delicious breakfast is served every day using local produce and the Lodge’s own free-range eggs. Location perfect. Owner an amazing guy very attentive. Breakfast started too late. The only complaint. I went to work early and breakfast doesn't start till 8.30 am very disappointed as my partner said how wonderful breakfast was. She spoke how fresh the produce was and choice of bread and home made jam was excellent. I was unhappy haha. Great hotel

Outstanding location, magnificent views. Attractive building style. Well designed garden, wonderful patio. Free range chickens. Balcony seating area. Extremely helpful / friendly hosts who go out of their way to ensure a pleasant stay. Totally recommend staying here. Twin bed room - Eclectic mix of decoration in bedroom clashed and not to my taste. Well presented bathroom not fully functional due to size. Minor considerations in the overall scheme.

Very friendly atmosphere and really feel at home without doubt. Lovely place, decorated with beautiful antiques which add character. Freshly cooked breakfast by the proprietor, Alex. We had the priviledge of having the free range eggs from his hens every morning. Alex also informed us of how to get to the remote areas of Exmoor by pointing out on the map. Without him, we would never visit those places. He has made our weekend break a super one. He certainly deserves an award delicated to the tourist industry. Highly recommend anyone who wish to visit Minehead to stay at Marston Lodge. Truly a gem place. Thank you Alex.

Comfortable hotel with a very friendly atmosphere. Local knowledge of the owner (Alex) ensured we made the most of our short stay. Good location frmo which to explore Exmoor and the North Somerset coastline. Facilities in Minehead were limited (bear in mind mid-march is out of season), though plenty of options a short drive away.

What a great place to stay, with views across the harbour and bay on one side, and across the moor on the other side. Very comfortable, great attention to detail, spotlessly clean and oh so peaceful. The warm reception from the owner was very welcome on a cold rainy January night, as was the gin and tonic delivered to my room. Breakfast was good and freshly cooked to order, with plenty of coffee and toast on hand as required. If you're in the area and want to feel cosseted, do stay here!

The hotel is in a quiet location above the town. Room 10 was very comfortable and had fantastic views of the sun rise, the sea, beach, headlands, Exmoor and the steam railway. The hosts really made us very welcome. Breakfasts were delicious and dinners outstanding. The hotel has a wonderful selection of modern and classical paintings and there is a very comfortable and homely lounge.

Alex was very welcoming when we arrived and showed us to our rooms. The rooms were excellent with great showers. My super king bed was great as I am 6'4". Breakfast was excellent and Alex showed us on a map what sites we should visit and what to avoid. Was very helpful. A short walk to town to restaurants. Lovely meal at an Italian restaurant called Fausto's.

Wonderful location high on the hill overlooking the resort. Far enough away from the holiday camp, but near to the shops and resturants at the top of the town. The hosts were friendly and helpful, but respected your privacy. No noise at all from the other rooms. Hotel very comfortable and the food and service excellent. Far better than a 3 star hotel I stayed in recently. Lovely walks right on the door step. This area of Minhead really is a hidden gem.

A real gem of a place and found by luck. We hadn't expected much as it was very last minute but we were very pleasantly surprised. The hosts are extremely friendly and helpful - guiding us to places or routes we might not otherwise have found. Always there to help if you need. We really liked the pool room and bar room which has an honesty bar. It was great to mix ourselves a G&T and play a game of snooker or another glass of port when we returned from a yummy meal out. I felt so comfortable I was lounging around in my PJs! You can also have afternoon tea. We had this in the sitting room area which no one seems to use which is odd as it is very comfortable. The freshly baked Victoria sponge was delicious. The breakfasts are also yummy - and very generous! We certainly started our days with a full stomach... The room was fine. Nothing special decoratively but very comfortable and met our needs. Perhaps a bit too warm. It was nice to use the balcony off the upstairs landing. Our room overlooked the garden rather than the sea view but that was fine as it's a very pretty garden and we didn't spend much time in the room anyway. The only real negative comment I have is about the bathroom. Cut out of the room it is very small but that is fine as it is very clean with good water pressure. It is only that the soundproofing isn't good. You can hear everything. But that all said it wouldn't put me off staying in that room again as it had twin beds which suited us and everything else was so lovely.

Fantastic! The building is beautiful in and out, as are the surroundings. We felt 'at home' immediately we walked in the door. Breakfast was gorgeous - cereals, juices etc plus full cooked (or variations of depending on your preference). A great start to a busy day of sight seeing. The owners were friendly and informative and certainly are familiar with the area- we got to see some of Exmoor and surrounding areas that we would have simply by passed if Alex hadn't suggested alternative routes to the obvious.. The house is full of character and wonderfully peaceful. Our room at the top with windows to 2 sides had views over Minehead and beyond and the sea. Lots of great pubs/restaurants around and, finally, we slept soundly waking refreshed.

It was our first stay in Marston Lodge and we felt very comfortable there, right from the beginning. Great ambience (House and our Room) very friendly reception by the owner Alex Mendoza and his family. Alex shared a lot of valuable local inside relative to our coatpath walk, the visit to Exmore and recommendations for our further travels through Cornwall. Great breakfast, too! We can only highly recommend the Marston Lodge and would be glad to stay there, again. Uwe and Eva, Cologne

We thoroughly enjoyed our short break with excellent hosts, who helped us explore more of beautiful Minehead and the surrounding areas. Marston Lodge is set in a beautiful area that overlooks the sea and their own beautiful gardens.
