Location was wonderful. Not only did you have the tranquility of the countryside and being a couple of minutes walk to Chesil Beach but you were also very close to Weymouth, Portland etc
Only negative, and I had to struggle to thing of one was not having free wifi. Wifi was available at a cost.
A quiet, peaceful place to rest
5 of us stayed for the New Year in the 3 bed cottage. I have never been in such a well equipped place. Everything was perfect, we all loved it.
Stayed here with my parents, husband and son for a short break in the Penthouse. The accommodation was fantastic with great layout and amazing views from every window and very well equipped. Everywhere had a relaxing feel and everyone very friendly, this includes all the wonderful animals around and my son particularly fell in love with the pigs. Whole area has loads to do for families or couples and the accommodation is outstanding and deserves its ratings. Definitely worth a return visit.
The accommodation was excellent and in a good location. Farmyard animals and activities provide extra interest. Views of Chessil Beach and English channel.
Hard to find local restaurants.
The house was well equipped and we all particularly liked the open plan living area and of course, the wonderful friendly animals and new laid free range eggs! George and Mildred, the well fed pigs, were delightful. We will be back.
The facilities were excellent, everything we needed. Even fresh farm eggs and milk on our arrival. The farm animals were a hit with the children. Very spacious (we stayed in the three bedroom apartment- 'the penthouse'.
We stayed in the cottage attached to the b&b for a short mid-week break and loved everything about the place! Comfy and spacious en-suite rooms, great kitchen and living space, private garden and easy access to lovely walks and fantastic views.
.Stayed in 3 bedroom house. Very clean and comfortable. Loved seeing the various animals roaming freely. Jane an excellent host. Very helpful with ideas for restaurant etc..
No signs on minor local roads to help find the farm. On arrival no signs for reception. Also needs to make the entrance more appealing. We were met by corrugated sheds and thought we had made a mistake. Also we were looking for Martleaves Farm and it is only signposted as Swallows Rest.
The animals, the kitchen and bathroom facilities. The comfort of the beds. The scenary.
Parking was a bit of a squeeze.
Got a massive thumbs up from my three children. They loved every minute. Stayed in the penthouse, excellent facilities and the views are wonderful. The children fell in love with George and Mildred the pigs. Highly recommended, will come back.
Amazing place that we have all said we would love to come back with our families! This was too good for a business trip, we felt as though we were coming home after working.
We stayed in the bungalow;well furnished and decorated with a well equipped kitchen. Lovely location with outlook over Chesil Beach with the large garden containing several pet animals.Well run by a very obliging couple, a pleasure to stay there.
Beautiful location. The farmhouse had everything you could need. We had 2 4 month old babies with us on our trip, we had plently of space for their travel cots in the bedrooms. There was lots of living space which was great! We had our own private garden plus free usage to the main garden which had the farm animals in. Very close to the coast. Only a 5 min drive from Weymouth seafront or 10 min drive from Portland.
Coming Home :(
Interacting with the animals, fantastic views and viewing platform, setting very nice, grounds kept very tidy, excellent accommodation, great facilities including washing machine, dish washer, good sized fridge, great beds, warm welcome, nice touch of fresh free range eggs from the animals on site, can't recommend enough
This sounds picky because this is a really nice place but the accommodation we stayed in has two flights of stairs (one outside) and if you were elderly or have mobility issues this could be a problem but it wasn't for us and you do get rewarded with fantastic views because the elevation gives you a great vantage point, sadly the sofa was uncomfortable when you sat on it for a little while and made it difficult to get comfortable
The beds were very comfy and was very cosy for a weekend away, the under floor heating was nice on the feet and the surroundings were beautiful...Will definitely return.
The shower took a while to drain away.
Kids loved the pigs. Made to feel at home would recommend to friends and family.
The owners of Martleaves farm were very friendly and made you feel at home.
It was a great little bungalow and I'm sure in the summer it will be even better. Having our tv/DVD players in each room helped having young children. The beds were very comfortable and the underfloor hearing was great. The owner was very helpful and gave us eggs and milk. it was really useful having sugar coffee teas washing up liquid etc there for us.
It's not really what I didn't like but more little things that I think would help . The bungalow needs a coat stand of some sorts. A little storage out side on the ramp for dirty wellies would be helpful. Because of having young children I wasn't keen on having a glass coffee table and it got in the way really.
The cottage was modern and cosy and comfortable. Thermostat controlled underfloor heating in each room made our February stay a lovely experience. I would imagine a summer stay would've equally enjoyable with 2 patio doors and rural/distant sea view.
