The room looked rather tired. The sink was cracked. The carpet worn and gapping at the door. Rather worn and used in general.

Friendly, welcoming staff and a calm relaxed feel to the whole hotel. The design of the hotel was original and all facilities fitted the African game lodge feel.Close proximity to Marwell zoo was a bonus as this was the focus of our visit. The room was clean and extremely comfortable and its situation at the extreme end of the hotel meant that you experienced the full beauty of the woodland setting.A Return visit is a must!

Room was big and clean. One problem with the window was quickly solved by the staff. Nice swimming pool. Free WIFI. Service in the restaurant quite slow (even if good)

The location and theme of the hotel was very pleasant, loctated in a wooded area which was quiet and relaxing. The room was of average quality but tired. Dined in the bar upstairs for our evening meal which again was relaxing, but the food was pretty average. Good buffet breakfast with plenty to eat and the staff were very helpful. Based on other hotels that we have stayed in during our UK trip, our room at this hotel was overpriced and I guess that because it had a pool it generates the extra cost. However in our opinion the quality of the room is far more important. In addition we thought the food was only of average quality and was not reflected in the cost.

Hotel in serious need of a make over, furnishings and fittings dated and in many cases shabby. Poor selection on Restaurant menu, bar meals poor value for money, chose to eat out rather than at hotel.

Nice clean hotel in a pleasant location next to the zoo. Good for families I would think. Expensive food, poorly prepared. Poor draught beer selection. All beers were chilled. Not a bar for anyone who likes beer.

Good location, iteresting layout. Restaurant staff were very varied, some very helpful others seemed to barely understand what was required. Decor now needing refurbished. Having stayed here on a few previous occasions we feel that things are looking a little past their sell by date.

For the price, the bedroom and bathroom were sub-standard. I mentioned my dissatisfaction on departure but the staff made no attempt to gather feedback on how they could have improved my stay. The breakfast room was too small and had insufficient staff for the number of guests. We had to wait half an hour for a table, even though there were empty tables waiting to be cleared.

The Zoological park is within reasonable distance, nice and queit grounds. Very relaxing. Really need's a shop nearby for walker's and long distance travellers who don't really want to go out once their in. No public footpaths leading to the mainroad, which is very busy at all times. No cashpoint at hotel or zoo, Taxi's if you don't drive cost a fair amount of money (and more if you need to get to a cashpoint). One to recommend only if you can drive and have your own car. Food I wouldn't say is up to standard for an "award winning" restaurant. Average at best,

breakfast. idea that there was a gym -2 running machines in a tiny room does not make a gym, esp if you're paying nearly as much as you do for a holiday inn.

The staff were very helpful The rooms were over priced, the flooring was squeaky, the dining room closed at 9pm and were fully booked. Didn't know you had to book a table as staff didn't tell us.

The dining room closed quite early (9pm) and the bar meals were a lot more expensive than in the dining room.

Friendly staff, helpfulness, food excellent, though fish and chips was a bit of a disapointment. My room safe was out of order. The room fridge was out of action. Both items had notices stuck on them with printed wording to inform me of this fact. I thought this was a strange thing because all that needed to happen was I could of been allocated a other room,to save the hasstle.

I was visiting family in a near by village so location was important. The hotel was in a quiet area so no traffic noise. The hotel reception area was welcoming and the staff courteous and helpful. My room was warm and there was a very comfortable bed! I arrived after dark and was disappointed in the morning to find a view of 2 portacabins, one in a state of disrepair. The room would have benefited by a comfortable armchair - it did have a small upholstered 'bedroom' chair and a cane work settee but neither were made for lounging in! Also the walkways were cold enough to necessitate a coat when walking between bedroom and the main hotel.
