Very friendly staff, good size rooms with high standard of furniture. Excellent breakfast. Good location. Half decent wifi and can also get a phone signal (important for business).
Decor looks tired and badly in need of refreshing in some areas. Despite this fact I'd still choose this hotel over some of the chains out there.
Warm friendly helpful staff. Interesting and unusual layout of hotel accommodation. Pleasant swimming pool with nice warm water / hot tub, great time spent relaxing after long journey. Comfortable, clean, spacious room. Food was good. Only there for one night but would love to go back and stay longer.
Glass connecting walkways between accommodation blocks were rather cold ( Late November )
The staff are all really friendly, the venue for my friends wedding reception was great, food lovely.
The bedroom was dark, very dated. The bathroom looked like it was fitted in the 70s! The TV didn't work at all, the wifi was intermittent and very poor signal. The quality of the bedroom (friends had similar rooms) was not fitting with rest of hotel.
Very comfy beds, Great breakfast, Staff were very friendly, Great room
Bar was expensive
£99 for a room for the night, this included a full english breakfast and use of the heated pool, sauna, steam room and much more. the room was a little dated but the bed was by far the comfiest i've slept in. complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee. for a extra £2.50 our breakfast was bought to our room for us to enjoy as we wanted, we didnt use the hotels eateries but the menus looked lovely. there was a wedding reception during our stay and everywhere looked fabulous for the happy couple. lovely area, we went into Winchester to do some Christmas shopping, they had a lovely market in the town and everything felt so festive. we would definitely return again :)
Great location with easy access to motorway but very peaceful. Brilliant building with views of the woodland setting from the walkways between each safari- type lodge. Great choice at breakfast.
Bar meal menu quite short and the restaurant was quiet so little appeal to a solo business traveller.
Excellent staff service Comfortable room Bathtub could hav been more cleaner
Smelly corridors with uncleaned carpets
The location hidden in wood land
A limited selection for breakfast
Built in a forest is a very good experience. You dont need to travel abroad to live in a forest for a few days.
Good location. Excellent venue for a wedding
Unfair cancellation charges, be aware they apply the policy strictly even in the case of unavoidable illness causing room cancellation.
Nice room, friendly and professional staff. Room service was quick and reasonably priced.
Location was a little out of town.
Sky package and large TV in Room The food was the best I've ever tasted Clean and spacious rooms Good shower SKY SPORTS!!!!
Restuarant prices were a bit steep, however the food was amazing. Hallway to the rooms was freezing! You may need a coat in the winter months! I am being picky as this hotel was brilliant.
Very spacious rooms friendly staff
The bed was comfy and the design of the hotel was interesting, to make it look like a safari lodge.
Rooms could've done with a bit of updating, the bathroom was very 70s and could have done with an overhaul. There wasn't a huge selection of snacks for the bar, and the food they had was quite highly priced.
The restaurant was very good I had a wheat and gluten free menu, with a lot of choice which was a big bonus for me. All the staff were very helpful. I would certainly stay here again and would always recommend it
The bed was uncomfortable. The mattress had seen better days, the pillows weren't much better they did seem concerned when we mentioned it on checkout.
Very attentive and helpful staff during set up and wedding breakfast.
Good service at bar and reception.
Room although clean really does need a makeover. Basin had crack running all through it. Been a long time since I've seen flooring on a bathroom floor.
Wonderful quiet location and quirky being constructed in the manner of an African lodge. Location with Marwell Zoo being next door is fantastic as the reason for our stay was to take our 5 year old grandson to the zoo.
What's not to like?
Breakfast & Room. However, due to the events of my last night at this hotel, none of this was worth it !!
On my last night at the hotel (23rd October) it seems that some students had been booked into the hotel. I arrived back at the hotel at 8.30pm after a particularly hard day and wanted a good nights sleep ready for the next day travel/ meetings. Unfortunately, from 11 - 2pm approx. students were continually drinking and swearing directly outside my room and running up and down the metal fire escape stairs located outside my room . I did try and contact someone at the hotel but unfortuantely no action was taken until 2pm. I stated all of this to the girl on the check out desk when paying for the room but felt it had been a complete waste of time. I am often in winchester on business looking for quality accomadation. However, due to this event I wouldn't ever consider staying at this hotel again.
I booked a twin room (a double bed & single bed) as I was travelling with my grown-up son, but when we checked in we were given a large double (and were told we'd been upgraded to 'executive'). We went back to reception and were told all twin rooms were taken, and the best they could do was to put a z-bed in our 'executive' room. They did only charge us for a standard room, but I did not expect to have to sleep on a z-bed. Consequently I'm not sure I'll stay there next time I'm in Winchester.
The setting, the peacefulness the comfort The easy parking The swimming pool The breakfast
having to book out
Just so convenient for Marwell Zoo. At the end of the day just a short walk back to the hotel. Halloween stuff for the children in the pool and lounge. So nice to be surrounded by trees and to watch the squirrels. Nice food and a nice relaxing room to sleep in..
The staff were very friendly and keen to help. Even when the children were tired in the evening, they were friendly, understanding and helpful.
Room was really nice and it had a massive bed, just nice for chilling out and not to far to travel to from home. Food was really nice and staff really friendly.
We arrived quite late and were greeted warmly. The rooms were very clean, beds very comfortable, and the staff could not have been more helpful! Lovely breakfast buffet next morning. I would highly recommend this hotel!
