Plentiful & varied breakfast. Helpful & friendly staff. Bearing in mind it is a 25 minute walk from the town centre, Masson House has excellent bus connections - although in the rush hour it is almost quicker to the centre.
Mattress felt as though it was well past it's sell by date. As there was no shower tray in the bathroom, the whole floor was wet after a shower including by the toilet & wash basin.
Clean and basic
Location convenient for our weekend as we needed to be up early and be at the commenwealth pool next door! The staff were very friendly and prepared breakfast for our early start. Will definitely be back to stay.
It was a little bit expensive!
Staff: very helpful and obliging; Value for money- excellent for Edinburgh Breakfast- first class
Only criticism was the bed / pillows. We stayed at the Masson House 2 years ago and bed etc. were fine. Had the feeling these were now a bit over used and probably due for replacement.
Walls are bit thin.
en suite extremely small and no separation between toilet and shower.
Location perfect for dive comp at the pool flexibility with breakfast excellent. Staff v helpful and friendly
Wet room, but not a major hassle
The price of the room was very convenient. The room and the shower room were very clean and cozy. The hotel is in a quite new, well maintained and clean structure. Very good quality breakfast available in the morning and included in the price, with a wide choice of food. Good location, about 20 mins walking from the city centre, ortherwise very quick and easy to get there by taxi as well. Very quite neighborhood. I would definitely recommend it if you don't want to spend much but have a very good stay.
The DVD player was not working. The shower room was very small.
Everything was clean, the bed and linen were very comfortable. TV , wifi ,shower pressure and towels were all good. Location excellent for visiting student in Pollock halls. Breakfast excellent.
The bathroom felt like being in a caravan mostly due to the Lino type flooring. The wardrobe doors were flimsy and came off their runners.
Staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was super.
The bathroom was very small and a bit claustrophobic.
Great breakfast A good price Loads of availability Free parking on the Pollock Halls site Friendly staff on 24 hours a day wi fi
Bed too soft for my liking The 'wet room' shower room was a bit poky
Quiet, comfortable, coffee ,tea, kettle in room !
Didn't know this was a Conference Centre of university, made me feel a bit strange. Location a bit far out, difficult to find. Got lost at night in grounds, not well lit or signposted !
Pleasant helpful staff, quiet location and convenient for bus into city centre.
Room was a little small and the 'Wet Room/Shower is in need of an update. Central heating radiator noisy throughout the night. May be associated with a very hot water supply causing radiator and header line to expand and contract periodically.
Poor bed. Very small shower and toilet. Mould in the shower TV that worked intermittently Worn carpet
Excellent breakfast Very good for buses around Edinburgh Comfortable room (for one) Nice setting for walks Car parking facilities Excellent base to visit Edinburgh and well-priced
Noise from students outside late at night on Saturday night
Good helpful staff on reception. Excellent breakfast choice. Good location.bus stops outside hotel.
Walls between bedrooms thin could hear people in next room talking. Wet room not such a good idea as water soaked onto floor and had to use towels to soak up excess water. Slight damp smell to room probably because of problem with wet room .
Helpful & friendly staff on reception, at tables and in housekeeping. Lifts and good access to bus stops makes for easy travelling/sightseeing even for the less mobile.
Suggest making reception area or part of breakfast room into more of a lounge area for residents - although guests can use central catering facilities & bar so not essential. Shower room could do with a lick of paint but was very clean :)
The room was clean Great to have free wifi Lovely breakfast Great location
The room was noisy due to walls being very thin! I could hear my neighbours talking and watching tv from both sides. I did not sleep well due to the noise. Bathroom very small. One can get bigger rooms for the same price.
Location, parking and bus stops nearby. Good restaurant across the road - Salisbury Arms. Good beer bar nearby - Southern Bar in New Clerk Street.
Not really a hotel atmosphere as no lounge area or bar.
The location is excellent, very close to city centre and a cheap taxi ride away. The rooms are clean and spacious, great for one night.
The walls between rooms are quite thin so if you need a good night sleep it might be hard to come by.
Staff friendly only £6 into town centre , breakfast great. For the money cannot be beaten if you just want somewhere to stay
good position and good breakfast!
price is too high
The staff were so friendly and helpful. They were very informative about the area, transport and places of interest to visit. The catering and household staff were equally as pleasant. I'd emailed that I wasn't keen on lifts so could that be taken into consideration when allocating a room, and it was! We were nicely placed on the ground floor. Thank you for acknowledging that, not like The Ship in Addlestone Surrey who blanked my request and didn't even follow up my email wen I complained. So well done Masson House!
That we hadn't booked for longer, but will do next time!
