location, scottish breakfast,staff
No special discount for parents visiting their ward at the Pollock halls, I wish if there is a 10% discounts for parents and relatives visiting their near and dear at The pollock halls.
One waitress was terse
Great parking and a short walk from town. Lots of nice pubs and eateries nearby and close to Arthur's Seat.
A little noisy with students coming home late at night but not any worse than a busy street
Located precisely where I wanted to be, with good food near to hand, helpful and courteous staff. In the midst of a life with many demands and pressures everything was simple and easy.
Clean and comfortable. Very convenient for settling in new university student. Tasty breakfast. Convenient parking.
Only complaint, kettle not working and no one get back to me to sort it out. Therefore not able to have much needed cup of tea.
Staff Accommodation Breakfast
Would have liked a couple more pillows, asked but none arrived, small matter we survived
breakfast and quite friendly, helpful staff
background noise from the corridor detracted from a good night rest
Very good breakfast with friendly staff. Good desk for working and wifi facilities. Reasonable location 20 minutes walk from the centre
Slightly small rooms and no eating options after breakfast. A bit anonymous, apart from friendly breakfast staff
The room smelt of mould & damp. The fan in the bathroom did not work! The sink was blocked immediately. The mattress quality was dreadful - lumpy! For £90.00 a night it was very overpriced! If you want breakfast before 7.30am forget it! All up overpriced & poorly maintained.
Breakfast was great!
The tall, slim gentleman steward at breakfast made me very uncomfortable - Could do better with his choice of words and make the start of day pleasant.
professional management, excellent staff, wonderful breakfast, most safe and secured location, great value for money
There is no discounted offer for long stay customers who want to stay say, for more than 10days. This is not something that I did not like, only a gentle advice.
Very quiet location. Comfortable clean room with all you need.
A little bit out on a limb in terms of location, entails bus or taxi use.
The rooms were clean and big, comfortable, well equipped. Well varied breakfast. The place is well connected with the city centre, as well as closer the nature, closer the Arthur's Seat.
Excellent service at reception desk with plenty of help and support regarding local services and amenities. Breakfast was of a very high standard. The food was very fresh and delicious and service was excellent.
The room although perfectly equipped was on the small size. The accommodation is on a university campus so can be a bit noisy.
This was our second stay at the complex in 5 years and was excellent on both occasions. Was interested to find that a number of performers from the Tattoo were staying on the campus
The room was hot at night due to the heating being on and although the radiator was turned off the flow and return pipes running through the room kept it hot. Does the central heating have to be on in August?.
Poor soundproofing of rooms Wet room rather than separate shower
each year there has been different things that have changed , when we first went you paid for wifi , now free , the choice's of breakfast are great , from a scotch roll to haggis with all you can imagine in between , each as much as you like and all ways fresh fruit to take away
Breakfast was great - frankly, the only part of the stay I enjoyed. Despite the cooking being done for a mass of people, the quality was brilliant, was a buffet so portions were not restricted and the staff in the restaurant were friendly and very helpful. There was also a good variety to choose from. In future, if I could have had slept in a room that wasn't in a student hostel (which is what Masson House is) but come in for breakfast, I most certainly would! Without doubt, the restaurant and the quality of food and the pleasantness of the staff is the only reason that I am giving any positive comments about the stay.
Was travelling with a colleague - we had booked two double rooms but when we arrived to check in, we found that one had be downgraded to a single - no-one had bothered to contact by any method (phone or email) us to let us know. I got the double and subsequently felt really sorry for my colleague who got the single as the double room was so cramped, there was barely enough room to move the chair back from the desk in the room to be able to sit down to use the desk. Doing any work at that desk was ruled out! The shower/toilet was effectively a wet room - no shower basin or enclosure - only a curtain so, once the shower had been used, the floor of the entire room was wet. Again, OK for students, I didn't enjoy it and wouldn't want to do that again!
Too expensive for this poor access, meals and accommodations.
Breakfast good but very busy
No parking guaranteed so had to find alternative parking. Hallways very noisy at night.
