Our stay was lovely, the room was a good size, bed was comfy, TV and free WIFI was a bonus. The bathroom was fine. Breakfast was definitely the highlight of the hotel for both of us, the range of food was amazing and we didn't have to eat for a while after! would definitely recommend and would stay again if ever in Edinburgh again
I can't think of anything negative.
The accommodation is located quite far from the city centre. However it gives a good view with huge moutain at the back. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The hotel has great value for money. It is within the University of Edinburgh premises but we went during the holidays so it was very quiet. The rooms are spacious and well equipped with blow dryer, kettle with tea and coffee, tv with a lot of channels and a safety case. Also, the hotel is very well heated. The staff are very friendly and helpful. And the breakfast is beyond expectations with delicious warm and cold options.
It is a bit far from the city centre, but the bus links are very good and you can also walk there in about 20 minutes.
Affordable and close to transit to allow for easy commute to Royal Mile. Very quiet area with lots of stores around. Loved the Abbey Bar that was a few blocks away
Walls were thin, neighbours were very noisy however reception/security was quick to respond to concerns. Bathroom a bit tiny
Breakfast WiFi staff
Small rooms / bathroom
The staff and breakfast are excellent. We stayed for Hogmanay and were very comfortable. Would come back purely for the showers. Holidays hours for the breakfast (ie later than usual) is a great touch.
Nothing that wouldn't make me come back, great value for money
Location, comfy bed, good breakfast.
Room was quite small.
The staff were lovely. Very accomodating. Breakfast was great easy access to city centre bus routes. Went for hogmony stay. So price was more then usual. But perfect for our stay..
The breakfast is excellent. Staffs are very nice.
Room are too small. Double room is single room size.
Plentiful & varied breakfast. Helpful & friendly staff. Bearing in mind it is a 25 minute walk from the town centre, Masson House has excellent bus connections - although in the rush hour it is almost quicker to the centre.
Mattress felt as though it was well past it's sell by date. As there was no shower tray in the bathroom, the whole floor was wet after a shower including by the toilet & wash basin.
perfect Scottish breakfast
cold water and hot water are separated from two taps. It is not possible to use warm water from the taps over the wash basin. Quite inconvenient
Clean and basic
Location convenient for our weekend as we needed to be up early and be at the commenwealth pool next door! The staff were very friendly and prepared breakfast for our early start. Will definitely be back to stay.
It was a little bit expensive!
Staff: very helpful and obliging; Value for money- excellent for Edinburgh Breakfast- first class
Only criticism was the bed / pillows. We stayed at the Masson House 2 years ago and bed etc. were fine. Had the feeling these were now a bit over used and probably due for replacement.
Walls are bit thin.
en suite extremely small and no separation between toilet and shower.
Location perfect for dive comp at the pool flexibility with breakfast excellent. Staff v helpful and friendly
Wet room, but not a major hassle
The price of the room was very convenient. The room and the shower room were very clean and cozy. The hotel is in a quite new, well maintained and clean structure. Very good quality breakfast available in the morning and included in the price, with a wide choice of food. Good location, about 20 mins walking from the city centre, ortherwise very quick and easy to get there by taxi as well. Very quite neighborhood. I would definitely recommend it if you don't want to spend much but have a very good stay.
The DVD player was not working. The shower room was very small.
Everything was clean, the bed and linen were very comfortable. TV , wifi ,shower pressure and towels were all good. Location excellent for visiting student in Pollock halls. Breakfast excellent.
The bathroom felt like being in a caravan mostly due to the Lino type flooring. The wardrobe doors were flimsy and came off their runners.
Staff were lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was super.
The bathroom was very small and a bit claustrophobic.
Great breakfast A good price Loads of availability Free parking on the Pollock Halls site Friendly staff on 24 hours a day wi fi
Bed too soft for my liking The 'wet room' shower room was a bit poky
Quiet, comfortable, coffee ,tea, kettle in room !
Didn't know this was a Conference Centre of university, made me feel a bit strange. Location a bit far out, difficult to find. Got lost at night in grounds, not well lit or signposted !
Pleasant helpful staff, quiet location and convenient for bus into city centre.
Room was a little small and the 'Wet Room/Shower is in need of an update. Central heating radiator noisy throughout the night. May be associated with a very hot water supply causing radiator and header line to expand and contract periodically.
Poor bed. Very small shower and toilet. Mould in the shower TV that worked intermittently Worn carpet
