Warm welcome. Nice warm room, with easy temperature control. Very clean room and shower room. Soft thick towels, and the Pears guest soap was lovely. Generous with the tea and coffee, and even had hot chocolate, which not many places do. Loved the teapot, and the teabags were nice and strong! The bed was comfortable if creaky! I had a really good night's sleep. I can't comment on breakfast as I only had yogurt and toast, but that was very good The Mayfield is a magnificent old house, but is let down by it's dated decor.

Location was ideal and the parking was useful. Also a good full English breakfast was provided. Decor and furniture a little dated although needs to stay in character with the building .

A warm welcome from the host...very attentive and produced a decent breakfast The b & b was difficult to locate particularly at night as the sign-age was very small and the property could only be accessed from the rear.

The owner was incredibly welcoming, gave advice and directions about local landmarks / places to eat and directions to the location of the university college that I was visiting for an interview. Although I did not take breakfast, the owner offered to begin breakfast preparations early to match my departure time. Room was excellent value for money, more a double room than a single! Nice, quiet and comfortable. Could not fault my stay.

The room was really warm on arrival on a bitterly cold day. Very comfortable bed and two easy chairs, useful as we didn't go out in the evening as planned because it was so cold. Good breakfast.

This was my second stay at Mayfield, and it didn't disappoint. My room was a spacious double, even though I booked a single, so it was lovely to have a large, comfortable room, with a large comfortable bed! Tea, coffee and hot chocolate in abundance and very good biscuits. Ensuite was very clean and shower was great. A thoroughly welcoming place which made me feel at home. The room could have done with a couple of lamps, as the only ones were integral with the headboard, and the room was a bit dark with those on, and too bright with the overhead light on, when I was watching tv or reading. Beware of turning round in the carpark. I scratched my car on the steps!

Breakfast was good. Room good size and very clean. Locatrion excellent - just 10 mins walk from Cathedral Front of hotel not main entrance. Your site needs to be clearer that clients should go to the back of hotel - the point size in your information on this point needs to be larger and bolder.

The staff were friendly and helpful and although the bedroom, No. 2, had dated decor which is due to be replaced this winter it was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very enjoyable and cooked to order. It was very convieniant for the Historical area which is very worth seeing. We will definately use the Guest House when we return next summer.

We received a very warm welcome from David the owner. Our room was comfortable, clean and warm. Breakfast was excellent. Location was just right for us, only a short walk to the Bail Gate and shops. Although the car park is small, we were still able to park our transit van without any problems - parking on the street is for residents only. If we have to be a little critical, the decor is rather dated and larger towels would have been appreciated!
