The staff were excellent, the food good, and the room good.
Young, helpful and friendly staff Good facilities: nice bar, good food. Comfortable beds, spacious room Very pet friendly
Rooms on front a bit noisy Couldn't get TV to work
Lovely decor in the restaurant and lounge area, great starters, desserts and high quality service
Slow service at breakfast, poached eggs were poor
Nice location, lovely food and a good atmosphere.
Grindleford is a very small village with limited places to eat.
A lovely spacious room with tasteful furnishings. Delightful garden.Ideal location for visiting local places of interest. Efficient, courteous and friendly staff, discreetly attentive . Excellent menus.Superb cooking!
Stunning location, attentive staff, comfort, food, clean, everything was perfect. So lucky this was our choice for our nights stay whilst touring. Go on treat yourself !
Excellent food. Lovely surroundings and delightful garden. Helpful pleasant staff. Ultra clean room and powerful shower. Wonderful midweek break
Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent restaurant for evening meal, good breakfast, good bar food. Good rooms and beds if you get the right ones... The rooms are decorated in a modern style which forms a pleasant contrast with the slightly severe exterior of the building.
There is great variation in the size and comfort of the rooms. The hotel is located on a fairly busy road and there is some traffic noise that gets through if your room is at the front of the building. The windows are a bit small which makes the rooms a touch gloomy. We asked to change our room as we are light sleepers and the staff arranged this quickly and without fuss for us. The new room was much quieter but also larger and slightly better equipped.
Beautiful villages close by to visit

This lovely hotel is very traditional and well complimented with some contemporary decoration, fixtures and fittings. We ate dinner in the restaurant, our meals were lovely and well presented. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
this is not a criticism, but a very minor point to say that there isn't a lift, and some rooms like ours are up two flights of stairs. However, we would not like to see the hotel ambiance compromised by having to accommodate one.
Friendly staff, clean & comfortable room. Amazing breakfast. Had a room at the front of the hotel which was not noisy as one would think.
Bed a bit too soft.
The quality of the fittings and furnishings; the attentive staff; the excellent food (we don't eat meat)
The noise in our room from the very large extractor fans under our window
We enjoyed our stay verymuch, food was excellent, we ate in the bar, location lovely, staff very friendly.
Nice location, quiet, well looked after
Staff we're very helpful. Relaxed ambience. Good breakfast.
Child's bed that had been requested wasn't in place on arrival but staff were apologetic and provided bed immediately.
Not a lot
No lift. Cracked washbasin Handle broken on bath tap The dullest bedroom we have ever stayed in
The staff were very helpful & friendly & the gardens were lovely to sit & have a drink. We had dinner in the restaurant which was absolutely fantastic - a real treat.
We were pretty disappointed to find the hotel directly on a fairly main road. However, don't let it put you off, as the hotel more than makes up for it.
We found the staff very keen to assist in whatever way they could. The facilities were good - the building is not young, but has been decorated in a very thoughtful way with great care. That care showed also in the dining room where the food was lovely and there was great care being taken in the presentation and the way in which things were done. When such great care is seen in the décor and presentation and also in the way the staff dealt with guests, it gave us a great sense of being carefully looked after in a very nurturing environment. The Maynard had everything we needed, set up nicely and run very carefully and well, with attention to detail at every step; we loved it and will stay there again next time we visit the area.
We fell in love with The Maynard when choosing the venue for our wedding last July, and after the most perfect day it was only right we went back for our 1st anniversary. We stopped in the suite again, evoking happy memories of the big day, with the beautiful view of The Maynard's gorgeous grounds from the window. What's not to love about The Maynard? Stunning hotel building and beautifully-maintained garden, fantastic attentive staff who make you feel special, and some of the most amazing food you will ever taste! Its location is excellent too, with Padley Gorge and the Longshaw Estate close by, and Hathersage is only a short drive away. There may be cheaper hotels, but The Maynard is worth every penny, so treat yourself!
Excellent food, very nice staff and excellent location fo the Peake District.rooms comfortable.
location, all services
The Bath. The check friendly staff. The excellent food. Easy parking. Spectacular views.
Good food Dog tolerant Great walks from the hotel door
Wi fi intermittent Door keys had to be reset several times as stopped working
Brindle ford. The views of the surrounding countryside were beautiful. Can't fault the young staff, efficient, and very polite.
The bathroom. Pretty to look at but not ver practical!
View from our room. Crisp bed linen. Our breakfast. The dining room. Large comfortable bed.
The decor was hideous. The W.C. didn't flush and we had to complain. Too late and tired to change rooms so had to use the staff W.C. out on the landing. We were given £20 off our one night B&B of £160, but had to ask for some compensation, it was not offered. It could be a very nice large room if the tired un matching dreary decor was updated. Not what was expected for £160.
