Location wise is the best
It is a horrible hotel and will never stay there again at all, the price is not really cheap compared to the poor facility, the room like a prison with damb carbet and poor matress in addition to the disgusting bed cover and sheets, breakfast so bad as well
Our room and whole guest house needs a bit of upgrading
value for money, located in heart of city within walking distance of all theatres pubs and restraunts, friendly staff an overall good place to stay.
The staff was very helpful when we found that we had left medicine on the airplane. The breakfast was excellent. They minimized the number of stairs we had to take. They gave us good directions.
The climb up the hill from the theatre district should be noted in the advertizing. It's brutal. It's hard to get to sleep for an early start the next day when the theatre lets out & everyone goes to party outside our windows. Room & bath were nice but the carpet was gross!
Close to town
Lots of noise from the street. Shower was not powerful. Room was slopping
Well located for the SECC. When I had a problem, I received help quickly. Staff were relaxed about guests overshooting the 9.00 am cut off for breakfast
I was happy with everything
The room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was really good.
The only thing we didn't like was the state of the carpet on the stairs it was filthy and stained and really let the place down.
The staff, especially Ms. Anna , Ms. Eva and Mr. Said. They were very helpful and friendly. The hotel location is very close to many restaurants and the city center. Morning breakfast is open buffet and enough to get you started.
Changing the price of the rooms every weekend and sometimes changing the room as well. Although I stayed about 10 days, the price of the room was not fixed.
Perfect location, good value/money
Poor decorative state both inside and outside room. Shower didn't work. Cracked basin. Urgently needs renovating.
Our stay was just for the one night. Rooms were lovely and clean. Staff were great as was the breakfast. Location was spot on for where we wanted to be. Would definitely stay again and would most likely recommend to others
Near to train station and shops Comfortable double bed (for a single room) Price Cleanliness Friendly and helpful staff
Reception staffed 24 hours. Early breakfast every day, including Sunday. Speedy and cheerful service at breakfast.
Location awkward for SECC (on the wrong railway line). Steep steps at entrance.
good location for food and city center. clean. and too rich breakfast.
Pleasant staff. Good breakfasts.
Very very tired decorative order and common areas not possible to really clean (eg ingrained grime in carpets). Echoing common areas and thin doors made late night guests an unavoidable nuisance.
Good location, room, breakfast and friendly staff. Would stay there again.
a very friendly place close to SECC close to pubs clubs places to eat
My parter and I were throughly impressed with McLays guesthouse and it proved to be better than our expectations. We were really happy with the service and impressed with the wifi and TV facilities, also the bathroom. The price was slightly higher than expected but we understand it was a busy weekend. Also the parking was brilliant and so cheap. We would definitely recommend McLays and will return.
Central location Good size clean room Good breakfast Friendly helpful staff
I was a small room but comfortable. I thought the breakfast was excellent and I had time to get my things in order and leave at the designated sign out time.
Second time we've stayed here, both times for a one-night stay to attend an event nearby. Location couldn't have been better for what we needed. Quiet street but still pretty central, same street as Glasgow School of Art. Friendly, helpful staff (on reception). Large flatscreen TV in room, as well as tea & coffee making facilities/kettle. Outdoor area at front of hotel is lovely, with lots of flower tubs and seating area. I missed breakfast so can't comment on that this time!
Building is showing its age and, to put it nicely, would benefit from a refurbishment. There's a lovely old staircase but it needs some t.l.c. It's quite a big hotel inside and is like a rabbit warren of rooms.
the location was good
very disbedding dirty, shower dirty, floor tiles in bathroom broken, had a problem opening & closing curtains, outside the front of building looks okay, inside leaves a lot too be desired, would not stay there again,
Friendly Breakfast staff and good breakfast. Asked for en-suite before arriving and was given one as most rooms share facilities.
Room bit small but adequate, Bed too hard and noisy
Grumpy receptionist, room was cold, beds uncomfortable, next to the kitchen and we were wakened by staff very early, the dining room was cramped, unable to move between the tables when carrying cups, bowls etc. Floor sticky, whole place needed a good paint
The staff were so helpful couldn't do enough for us.
