The breakfast was ok
Most of us hardly sleeping because of the terrible noise
Parking just outside the guesthouse Friendly staff
Staff was friendly, location right near charing cross
Overall condition, comfort and hygiene of facilities
Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was a great size and for being in the city centre was very quiet.
The ceiling was pretty low, caused difficulty when trying to shower.
Location of accommodation was ideal.
It was a dive. Would have been better off bringing a tent and pitching it on Glasgow Green. Staff inhospitable, room substandard, cleanlininess abysmal (mould on shower curtains). For the price it was terrible.
After a full working day and then travelling for 5 hours, when i arriving the receptionist made me feel like she'd rather me not be there, i felt unwelcome. Rest of the staff were nice but this initial experience got it off to a baf staff. I decided to have an early night as i was tired from travelling, at around 10pm.. At 11 i discovered my room was opposite the back of a nightclub. The thin single glazed windows did essentially nothing i could hear and name every song.. i did not sleep until 3am resultantly felt tired for the rest of my short stay in glasgow.
Good breakfast Close to the centre
No close parking places. Dark , dismal decor Noisy Holes in wall Kettle didn't work Shabby in appearance
the helpfulness of the staff and the location
the cooked breakfast being served so quickly that we had hardly started on the cereal etc
The room the shower didnt work properly the room wasnt clean
Clean room, Attentive, polite staff, Wi-fi availability and connection, Quiet room to study in, Close to city centre, Welcome tray, Massive flat-screened TV
Stairs Nobody to help carry luggage up the stairs, Head boards continually banging on walls, No desk lamp - difficult to study in evenings Dowdy brown room decor made room a bit depressing
It's close to other small hotels on Renfrew Street, so you can try other places close by without lugging your suitcase all over the place.
Awake until 3 am because the hotel sits opposite a club that is very loud. Had to share a bathroom. Carpets really need to be cleaned!
Great central location ideal for the shops in central glasgow. room spacious with good sized TV
Very tired and filthy corridors leading to bedrooms, ensuite bathroom was I poor condition although clean enough for a budget hotel
It was a quiet and clean
A bit far from the center of town.
Close to other small hotels in Renfrew street.
Carpets were dirty. Terrible night's sleep, as my room was across the street from a club that stayed open until 3 am. I had ear plugs in and a pillow over my head and the t.v. on low to try for some quiet.
McLay's Guest House was great for what it was - a guest house. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. It was quiet and restful.
It felt a bit like staying in a dormitory with private rooms. The elevator was ancient. Many of the rules were clearly designed with a younger traveler in mind (think college aged). So it was a few steps removed from a hostel - which wasn't what I expected.
Nice breakfast, not too expensive
Uncomfortable, dark room
The building is too old.the room is too small also the breakfast is rubbish customer service is poor.
proximity to School of Art ease to city center with a few minute walk.
mold in the bathrooms street noise (used ear plugs and was fine)
The bed is comfortable. At first, I thought that there are two double beds and our four will share them. It was surprised for us to find there are four beds.
It's too noisy at night. I didn't sleep for the whole night because of the noise from the bar nearby.
Staff good. Food OK.
The shabby decor. The noise of music etc at night until late
I had two different rooms and both were pleasantly furnished, with a homely character. Break fast was ok - you could talk with the guys ore girls in the kitchen to prepare you what suited you (amongst the things they had). The girls at reception were friendly
There was no major problem with this guesthouse, just some irritations. First, to use the wifi you get some little vouchers with long numbers on, which you have to type in. They should work for 24 hours (which is mean enbough) but often they stop givving you access after a few hours, or simply because the system has logged you off after a period of not using the net. This is a real pain (especially if you have to get some work done), and totally unnecessary! It's also annoyingThis is something you definitely need to sort out! why not give guests the password and then let them get on with it, like everyone else does? In one area a water pipe makes a lot of noise whenever the nearby toilet has been flushed - that could be sorted out, too. The lady in reception was friendly and helpful, but a little irritating treating adult guests like children. May be she doesn't need to teach adults (some of whom probably have more knowledge of electric and electronic equipment) how to use a microwave oven. That said, the guest house is friendly and pleasant, the rooms are good. It does, however, lack of a common area where people would meet, have conversations, etcetera.
It was handy for city travel, great value for money and nice polite staff. Would happily stay again and will be trying to book next week as I am up on business again.
Central, breakfast good
Lift not working, difficult finding parking,
