The rooms are outdated. The windows are also oudated (no double glazed) which allowed the cold to come in. The beds are too firm. Breakfast was fine, but the area for breatfast was too small.
Good central location with plenty of tea/coffee, etc in room.
Stairwell was very dirty, breakfast wasn't good and the dining room smelt very greasy.
Good location. Great friendly staff. Very helpful. 4 in a room comfy beds plenty of space just what we need for a cheap weekend break.
Breakfast lounge was basic to say the least. Along with the breakfast and the nine o'clock finish. Witherspoon s ashort walk away godsend .
Location and breakfast ok
Its in great need of restoration would be great for stag/hen doos or when working away
Location. Breakfast and nice And warm room ,as it was a Particular cold night
Was a bit wary after reading previous reviews but I had a lovely single room on the ground floor. Comfy bed, nice big tv, good shower, toiletries provided. Breakfast good. WiFi good.
A bit out of the way, didn't realise how long a walk it was from the station! Room very hot, luckily could just about open the window. Inconsiderate noisy people coming in at all hours, therefore poor sleep. Why can't they just be quiet coming in. Maybe there should be a notice put up to remind people that others are sleeping.
Stayed here while getting a passport sorted and the facilities were excellent. We arrived at 1am and had no problem getting checked in at this time, the staff were very pleasant! We had breakfast which was great cooked well and served quickly. Parking was no issue we were provided with a voucher so we could leave our car there and the room was great!! Beds were extremely comfortable the bathroom was very clean with plenty of hot water! Overall this was a great place for us and we'll definitely be coming back! We had a wonderful experience and a great nights sleep too!
Clean, comfortable room. Free Wi-Fi. Helpful, friendly staff Lovely home cooked breakfast Good price
A bit of a walk from city centre
Quality of breakfast, if in slightly cramped conditions. Room good esp. overhead light in bed, though a touch cold in high cold wind, even with good heater.
Cutlery awkwardly placed behind occupied table at breakfast Too easy and distracting from sleep to hear late night telephone conversations next door How do you lower the blinds again?
It was in a safe location 1.3 Kilometers from Kelvingrove Art Museum. The breakfast was hot and good-one fried egg, baked beans, toast, ham and a sausage with coffee, juice and tea. The wifi was good throughout the hotel. Front desk would call a cab for you if needed.
The room was quite cold. Even after they fixed the heat I had to sit under the blankets in the room just to stay warm. The mattress wasn't very comfortable--it felt kind of old--slightly lumpy with dips in the mattress, not firm, not soft. Not the worst I've slept on, not the best.
Property was very run down and in need of an upgrade. Room was small and lacking in nice décor. Very noisy guests in adjoining room arriving back to guest house at 4.30am
Near city centre and staff very pleasant
Everything was lovely, a lovely welcome on arrival, very good service at breakfast, (breakfast was awesome ) !!! Put us on for the day !!! Staff very helpful when we needed anything, I.e direction,s to places, also for where entertainment was ,
The stair carpet badly needs ripping up !!!
Friendly staff very polite and helpful Breakfast good value for money
A bit out of the way and property was a bit dated but staff and value for money more than made up for it
Low price Clean Breakfast included Nothing which made it bad
For the money the things I would complain about are not worthwhile. The place is good if you just want a cheap clean place to stay
The Price and closeness to city
The single room was very compact and the Sat. night rave music endured till 3 a.m.
The hotel is very very dated, even though the price kind of reflects this by today's standards it is still very poor.
Friendliness of staff and the location of the hotel considering the reasonable price.
The mattress was uncomfortable and room a little basic. .
Good service and good room!
easy access to shops
attitude of receptionist on reporting faults.there was a terrible smell of sewer on ground floor close to restaurant.better breakfast at battersey dogs home eg bacon and sausage under cooked.i have traveled and used hotels and guesthouses in the uk and the eu with my work and i rate this acomodation as one of the worst.
We were through on a night out and McLays is a great place to stay, great value and nice and central. It does the job. Def be back.
The breakfast on Sunday could finish a little later
Location and friendly staff
Shared bathrooms, very dated and needed a big makeover/renovations
