Able to support and help us out
Beautifull renovated old farm.
Clean, comfortable rooms. Quiet countryside location. Good large garden with tables and seating. Good parking. Well equipped rooms and kitchen.
Two lovely, child friendly dogs but they poo all around the garden. This is a shame because the garden is a very nice but you have to be careful where you tread!
Wonderful place,love the friendly dogs.
Felt as if the holiday started early Lived up to other feedback
Owner was extremely kind and friendly. Made us feel at home.
Lack of facilities in room, not even a wardrobe! Sink not big enough for a shave.
the charm of the building and the grounds
reception by the landlady was fairly cool
I thought the cottage was set in lovely grounds and very peacefull
Host was friendly and talkative. Felt compelled to mingle and interact with other guests. Room was small but comfortable, full of character with wooden beams and doors. Continental breakfast was included with typical choices. Quiet location, large grounds to wander around. Very clean and tidy guest house with modern facilities but enough character to make it quaint.
Was sent a text message asking if we could arrive by 7pm, we felt a little obligated to break up our activities to check-in for 7pm. Parking can be a problem, when we arrived the car park only had two other cars in it - the car park is only big enough for 4 vehicles (despite there being at least 13 rooms). There is space for another 4 vehicles on the lane leading to the property, just before you turn into the driveway. Not sure if this belongs to the guest house, but we needed to park here as we went back out after arriving and when we returned at around 10:45pm, the car park was full with three other cars parking up the drive. There was only one space left in the bay of four on the lane, but felt lucky as there are more rooms than car park spaces so bear this in mind.
I liked that we could take the dog.
No internet access. Staff not on hand to ask questions during the stay. Breakfast was a shock self service free for all in kitchen and only toast and cereal on offer. Cooked breakfast had to be ordered in advance but was never really offered when we booked in. Thought £80 a night for what we got was expensive if it wasnt for our dog we would not have stayed here.
Location and look
Smell of damp and unclean floors
Lovely comfortable bed.
From first entering the room, there was a urine smell coming from the en suite. It had no window but an extractor fan. Nauseating.
-Quiet location close to Bristol airport, Wells and Glastonbury. -Very good value for money -The amazing garden -Do-it-yourself breakfast on the terrace
Lovely location with the opportunity to sit outside and enjoy the sunny weather. We did this for breakfast on both mornings. Although breakfast was a do it yourself affair we were aware of this in advance and had no issue with it.
Car park was a little tight but luckily we were able to fit in. You do need a car to get there unless you used a taxi.
Couldn't find iron
Great for airport and much better than the usual airport sleep anf fly. Really liked brekfast at 4am. Lovely old building
Being told I couldn't collect the key before 1730
The friendly welcome and ability to have access to the kitchen to have an early breakfast to catch the plane.
There is nothing which we did not like.
Overall excellent B&B. I stayed in room 10 - very good bed and nice en-suite facility. Annette was very helpful with check-in (thanks !).
I liked the Location and the grounds, there were a few things about the place I didn't like that I'm not going to mention here because its probably mainly my grumpiness as I approach 50. However, the Holiday in or whatever corporate nonsense it is down the road can be twice as expensive as Meadow Cottage and has no where near as much character, is no where near as comfortable or pleasant.
Hand wash basin was so small it was unusable and make sure the friend you take with you is a very close one. The bathroom in the room we were in offered no privacy at all.
We stayed two nights with friends (another 3 couples) to attend a family wedding in Bristol. All four rooms were very different in decor and were very charming. The thatched cottage was set in beautiful surroundings which are accessible to guests. We enjoyed eating our self service/self cook breakfast in the sunshine on the large patio. No cooked full English on offer in the self service kitchen but plenty of cereal/yogurt/muffins/crumpets/toast etc we prefer to stay in places of character rather than the large chain hotels/b&b's.
We didn't have a wardrobe in our room so had to hang our wedding clothes around the room. A minor point as we were staying only two nights and the other rooms in our party did have wardrobes. Our ensuite was on the small side with a very small basin but again some had larger ones and for two nights was adequate.
The surroundings are pretty, as is the building.
Service is non existant. We have not seen anyone at late check-in - OK, so far so good - but neither at check out. No service whatsoever for buffet breakfast. It was not just help yourself, but "do everything yourself". Very frugal to say the least, just boxes full of cereals, nothing English - we'd say "scrappy". Not in line with the price.
Comfortable room and facilities
Shame people helped themselves to the breakfast supplies during the night which meant no orange juice available for breakfast.
A nice old building and help yourself breakfast.
The room smelt of a cleaner that might be used in public toilets. It was very strong and despite spraying some perfume and opening the windows the smell persisted. At breakfast there was no sign to say help yourself, just the other guests, if someone from overseas visited they would be very confused.
