Sense of staying in a Jane-Austen hotel, with history all around. Excellent reception and breakfast. The smell of eggs, sausages and bacon in the morning is nearly suffocating in the whole building.

The proprietor and staff were so very friendly and welcoming - nothing was too much trouble for them. It's a lovely old building, completely modernised inside without spoiling the appearance or 'feel' of its historic roots. Sound proofing should be improved - the room next to ours was linked by a locked door, through which we could hear word for word the occupiers' entire conversations. There is a simple remedy for this: they can put doors on the walk-in wardrobe/storage areas of each room (the linking door is in the wardrobe area), thereby separating the two rooms by a series of three doors, not just one.

We were attending an intensive short educational course in Glastonbury and wanted somewhere quiet, comfortable, and a little way away to relax between sessions. Usefully there was a handy Post Office

mrs Chapman has an excellent manner and was very welcoming. The breakfasts were good.but please see below. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet-the ensuite bathroom was adequate The hotel charges 5 star prices without 5 star facilities-the port and sherry on offer allowed us one small glass each withou being topped up overnight. The packer teas were not replenished overnight.glassses did not match-if you want to charge 4/5 star prices the facilities should be of equivalent standard. The access to the room was nor particularrly user friendly.
